Who Has Verizon Fios

22 posts in this topic

I've heard I can actually get the NFL Sunday Ticket via DirectV, but as a customer of Verizon Fios. I'm looking into it, but I figured I'd ask around, thanks.

wish we had it but it hasnt come to my area yet,I am pretty sure you can get sunday ticket through direct tv tho

That's what I have, but FIOS is probably better quality and I think a bit cheaper (minus the Sunday Ticket). Plus you can consolidate your bills (usually lessening them) by packaging House Phone, Cell Phones, Internet and Cable into one bill.

If I was a Jets or Giants fan, I could save myself all sorts of money each year on misc. crappy charges by Directv.

I have both DirecTV and FIOS (don't ask, long story). NFL Sunday Ticket is not available on FIOS, but the Redzone Channel is. Verizon sells DirectTV, but I think that is a separate product from FIOS. If you find out that DirecTV programming is available through FIOS, please let us know.

I'm still in the midst of trying to make sense of this:

FIOS Sucks. I hate it I want it gone but I lost. Their customer service is non-existent, the TV is down just about every night, the DVR is tiny and crashes a couple time a week and they do nothing about it.

Wow. I will take that into consideration. I just found out that it's not available in my area anyway. I still want to see what they offer. I heard I could use my existing equipment.

As most of you know I am on a lot at night Fios wants to be called when I'm having an "issue" but if the TV is not working and the internet is not working it also means the phone is not working because they are all on the same line and at midnight I am not banging on my neighbors door. I also posed the chicken/egg question if all this is down how am I supposed to call? Up until I got blackberry my cell was usually dead in the bottom of my purse because it only liked its car charger and so I had no cell phone to call on so they said they would get back to me and no one ever has.
The channel line up is beyond messed up, you have to memorize 1 tier of non-HD channels and another for HD and not all channels are in HD. My bedroom TV still has knobs so needless to say it does not do HD.
I could go on all night about what I loathe about FIOS.

I wholeheartedly disagree. FiOS has been nothing but a dream and the only disadvantage in comparison to DirecTV is that NFL Sunday Ticket is not available, but as others have stated, the Redzone channel is more than adequate.

Once FiOS is available in your area, I highly recommend you make the switch.

I won't do it until the Sunday Ticket becomes an option or I find my dream home in the Pittsburgh market.

I know the story is about phones but the rest of the service is the same in my experience.

I guess I've been very lucky with my FIOS. I had some internet problems with it early on, but since then I've had remarkable little problem with that, the TV, or the phone. (I hope I didn't just jinx myself.)

On the other hand, the channel lineup does suck though the picture is crystal clear. I much prefer the user-friendliness and customer service of DirecTV, but the product is not as reliable in my area. I tend to lose HD when storms are approaching and then the whole package during bad weather. DirecTV was out for a couple of days after the big blizzard last winter but FIOS kept chugging along.

I can say that was a positive, for some reason I now have no HD for WJZ and they will look into it JUNE 10th! We changed out the HDMI cables, checked all the connections I have a feeling its the box.

We've had no issues with FIOS either. I would absolutely die without it for internet. Though the one bill thing, we have Verizon for cell, local phone, and internet and we get two seperate bills. I would ditch them for the cell but I have never, ever had a dropped call or no coverage and I have travelled extensively.

I love Verizon for cell--my Blackberry rules and when I worked as a home care nurse I had coverage everywhere but 1 little dip in Manchester. Never had any problem in Deep Creek, the Outer Banks or the Florida Keys. I wish I could be as happy as everyone else with the FIOS part ;-( I seem to get the inept customer service people, the no shows with service calls, the faulty equipment and the kind but did not know the difference between Cat 5 cable and co-ax installer.
