Ramon Harewood

Stumbled upon this brief, yet informative article by ESPN's Len Pasquarelli about our raw 6th round pick Ramon Harewood. Didn't see anything else on the top two pages, so thought I'd share the link. The kid is promising, could be a chance he could develop into our right tackle of the future if we don't keep Gaither past this season...

I think we should give him a couple of chances to prove himself.

He's going to get his opportunity, just probably not this year.

Harewood is still extremely raw. He's got the size and the strength, just needs to work on his mechanics a bit more. Could be a force on the offensive line, but it won't be for a while.

The boy is no dummy. I wonder what kind of conversations he and Matt Birk will be having?

All in all, I think this kid has alot of promise for such a late round pick. He has all of the physical tools, he just needs to get the NFL speed down

Ramon Harewood will be a premier player if we give him patience to allow him to learn our offense. He's a pretty smart guy, so it shouldn't take too long for that to happen. He also has all the physical tools you look for in a lineman. Anyone know why he wasn't drafted earlier??? I mean, Mike Iupati is in the same experience pool as this guy, and both have pretty much the same athleticism.

First of all this pick surprised me because it's not like Ozzie to take physical specimens even as projects, remember a few years back when he took Cousins and Hale over (Saints LG) Carl Nicks? Like Harewood he also possessed very rare size/speed numbers and was able to go on to become one of the best guards in the NFL while Cousins/Hale remain buried on our depth chart. Harewood may be a little further behind on the learning curve but his potential is as big as he is.
