PIU? I like that. The only one I remember hearing is Marine U.

You know (and this is still vaguely on topic), you will have the opportunity to take Navy Institute courses. Basically they are like CLEPs: You get the book and schedule the test. They help your career and can count as college credit. You'll undoubtedly be forced to take the "personal finance" one as soon as you get to your first unit.

I've taken MANY Marine Corps Institute courses (Intelligence/Counter Intelligence and Counter Terrorism were my faves).

I will definitely have to look into those, do the Navy and Marines have the same Institute courses; being under the same department and all?

not to be random.. but the first time I was registering for classes here, they had a class called Weapons of Mass Destruction.... needless to say I was like wth? lol

I live in Joppatowne so I'm have to take the 35 bus everyday to UMBC. I wish dorms weren't so expensive.

No... this is bamboo under the fingernails... fall semester course schedule : molecular biology, genetics, proteins, ligand protein, energy transduction and biochemical integration, membrane / bodily organization and motility, targeting and vesicle trafficking, membrane signaling, cell signaling LASTLY... two months of general lecture. Mother of god *facepalm*

That's it? :P

And they all came with labs, conference and independent study. right? :th_consoling2: its brutal. Genetics used to make my brain hurt and I did not go above 400 levels and it was 20 years ago--they have learned a bit since then.

Nope I love Biology and Chemistry, I am weak in math so chem labs hurt-- I still would not mind going back after my kids are done college. I took 2 biology classes just cuz--my kids call me a nerd and shake their heads in disgust. :Cool_408:

They all come with labs and conference- not so much independent study unless you're counting homework. 20 years ago they didn't know 5% of what they do now in genetics. Heck, breaking the dna code kicked the door open to a whole new world of study.

I'm fantastic in biology, not so much in chemistry. My biggest problem is mentally calculating metric to a.s. for dosage calculations, etc. That hurdle took me a while. After a while you get pretty good at rounding figures in your head though, becomes second nature.

ok warden and your in pa right , do agree the pa school system has issues , especialy when dealing with kids who are either behind or of higher IQ?

Reason I ask is the latter is why I gave up going to further my education the system screwed me up bad lost transcripts from LIU , they even misdiagnosed my IQ at 112 last year redid the tests and hit 144 . I think I won't go to a standard college maybe a bible college thinking about doing what Ray Lewis did a few years ago , taking up some form of ministry

The Navy and Marines may have similar courses but they are note shared. But there are a lot of things/organizations with names like NAVMAR (Navy-Marine) and there may just be a NavMar Institute or something like it. I'm sure things are a little different from when I was in.

It is second nature, I cook in metric which makes it a pain to share recipes lol The genetics my son took in HS absolutely fascinated me to the point I did a ton of reading on line. Maybe I'll go back to school and be a PharmD, if I can get though the math. My mom has an off the wall cancer and I am fascinated the way the OCN has come up with the "drug cocktail" and its working with minimal side effects. The science is incredible.

I sent in my application, references and lor's to Rockefeller University for my post-doctoral fellowship in neuroscience today. They only accept 15-20 candidates a year so hopefully I hear something back!!! I want to postpone my neurosurgical internship/residency a few more years so I can get in to a clinical research study and (hopefully) better my chances of getting in to a top tier surgical program.

*fingers crossed*

Hard to believe... I've been in college (without a break) for close to 8 straight years. I've even done summer programs for all 8 years. UGH.

[/quote]

Yeah, I understand that. I really wanna go to Loyola, but UMBC is a lot cheaper. We'll see... Also, parking at Loyola is just horrible. :34853_brickwall:

Villa Julie/Stevenson grad!

I had a great Junior year with the dorms overlooking the old Ravens practice fields, before they moved into the castle.
