Favorite Food To Eat While Watching Football

71 posts in this topic

We all have some favorite foods to eat while watching out Ravens do what they do, wings and pizza are obviously up there. But what else do you guys love at home, restaurant or bar. One of my favs is oysters.

Must have the worlds most complete food:Nachos--real nachos not the ones with that slimey con queso crap--real cheese, beans, salsa, corn and chicken on home baked chips with sliced avocado.
Steamed shrimp is always good, crab balls, crab dip, pulled chicken Barbe q with homemade sauce, black bean baked beans, crab quesadilla's
I like good food and love to cook but I don't eat a lot of red meat so for the others I make chili, pulled beef, pulled pork or sloppy Joe's pig in a blanket what ever I see in a magazine. Wash it down with my secret Sangria recipe.

At the stadium it is Ostrowski's sausage, sauerkraut, a pasta dish I make and whatever else I feel like.

I am a really, really picky eater so I take and make what I like and try to make it as healthy as possible.

I'm partial to Wegmans, my family loves their ground beef and steaks and everything is so fresh there.

Since I don't eat the burgers and steak's I can't the difference, but they can actually tell the difference from meat from Wegmans or Truth's and BJ's and FoodLion. They still eat it, but grumble while doing so lol

LOL! I can always tell the difference from the smell. Meat fed too much antibiotics and other junk has an off-putting smell when its cooked as opposed to the fresh, clean smell you get from the grass-fed cows.

I can't get meat that close to my nose--it makes me gag--even the good stuff. Its strange--I know. Like I said before, I avoid processed food as much as I can. I only eat Chesapeake bay crabs and have to steam them myself because I got sick off of them in HS and that was a looooong time ago. :oldwiseman:

The guys I tailgate with steam crabs at the lot for the first home game every year, I bring cranberry chicken salad lol

Those little Hotdogs cooked in the sauce is nice. Pick them out with a tooth pick. Normally I cant even eat during the game. idk if anyone else gets the same feeling but I get nervous and my stomach gets into knots. My friends that are fans of other teams wonder why I get that way. Their just not a true fan Like I am. A bag of salt N' vinegar chips and a coke, and im ready. Dont like going to sports bars either because I hate being around drunk people.

Nope have to eat before or after, usually after. I would choke if I ate during a game.
Want something good you can do with the little hotdogs or meatballs? Mix jarred chili sauce and whole cranberry sauce together in a crockpot, add meat, cook until it bubbles--never a left over. Sounds gross but is awesome.

Its almost like a sweet and sour / savory taste. Its very good. Mom makes it for the games sometimes. A simple Hotdog cooked well on a charcoal grill is great. I hate when people microwave hotdogs, lol.

I'm a seafood guy, so I usually fire up the grill (no, doesnt matter if it's 25* and snowing out) and throw on some round salmon steaks and shrimp splashed with lime.
My brother and sister in law will come over sometimes and they make the wings or bring subs for everyone.
I pretty much avoid veggies like the plague on gameday, lol...Sunday is when the kids go off to see their mom, so I get to be lazy all day and eat like a man is supposed to

Gigged is to get written up for a small offense--its a nautical term. So Gig'em would be to give someone a warning as I see it in the use. A gig can also be a rowboat or a way to catch fish.

Since even Mod2 has gone off topic (quick, lock the thread!), I figure I'll get things straightened out in this (now bizarro) thread:

If the game isn't on tv here, then I'll go to a bar with DirecTv that has some pretty good burgers. If I can watch it from home, I'll usually grill some brats and have some chips or nachos handy.

When games are close, I become a nervous eater and will just eat anything that's around. Games at my parents are the worst because they always have a ton of people over and make a ton of food. I'm sure I've put on a pound or two from just one game over there.

I'm one of those who can not eat during a game. I like to enjoy my food and I can't do that and focus on the game at the same time. Also, I'd be in danger of throwing food at the TV if I see a bad call.

If I get real tense, I might gobble M&Ms. Chocolate seems to help calm me down.

ha yeah, my mother works at the Whole Foods downtown and my best friend works at the one in Mount Washington section of the city. They always rave about how fresh they keep everything. I like to go in and get lunch off the hot bar Saturday and heat it up for the game Sunday. Only problem is during the ride back home on the 35 bus it smells so good to refuse haha.

I frequent the hot bar at both locations. That's some good eats.
