Ravens Vs. Jets Week 1

48 posts in this topic

I was just thinking about the team that we have put together through the Draft and Free Agency, and all the hype on the Jets D after getting Cromartie, Jason Taylor, and Kyle Wilson.

I think it would be hilarious if we came out and dropped 40 points on them in MNF Opener. I know it sounds crazy, but it is a statement game for both teams and it wouldn't surprise me if put up some serious points on them.

I think our Offense is going to be as dominant as our Defense has been the past 10 years. I can't wait to see us take the field!!!

I think we can drop 40 on them our offense is better and remmeber what Sanchez looked like when our starters were in the preseason game, there is a force coming down on Sanchez that he will not escape

The Jets aren't the big bad wolf that everyone keeps acting like they are. Buying the best players on the market and trading for troubled but skilled players doesn't make a good team. Look at the Redskins and Raiders. They throw money at the best available and they haven't won too many games in the last decade.

Like the OP said, the game will be huge for both teams for similar and different reasons.

Cam might already know what he's going to throw at the Jets but if we could switch bodies, I'd use Dickson and Pitta heavily.

Dickson hasn't played a down yet but I know the man can stretch the seam which would clear space in the middle for Q, Mason, Pitta and Rice.

I'd also try to isolate Cromartie on Q and throw screens, curls or slant his way. Cromartie doesn't like tackling WRs you'd dub "physical" so I doubt he'd want any part of Q.

I'm so excited for the season.

Agreed, and the media-at-large seems to forget that we're a pretty good football team as well.

Good point, Cromartie might try to tackle him if Boldin has no momentum going at Cromartie, but Bolding running full blast at him Cromartie wants no part of.

Nope.

He's supposedly a good press CB but Rex's schemes won't change Cromartie's dislike for contact.

Like Q said once(probably hundreds of times), "You ain't physical enough playboy!"

Not likely, if you're a Ravens fan, you know this contest will be 10-7 or at best 17-13. Remember, this is a Rex Ryan/Rick Pettine ( remember them? ) defensive team in the early stages of evolving into a dominate 46 scheme ( remember that? ) against a Cam Cameron offense evolving into Cam's old San Diego open offense. The final score won';t tell the true story of this game, the hitting will. A coaches' game. Superior game plan and turnovers determine the winner in a close low scoring contest. Ta-da!!

If the Ravens dropped 40 on the Jets defense in their own stadium, their brand new stadium, on the season opening Monday Night game...

Yes, that would be funny.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jets defense completely shut down the Ravens offense, and possibly even score on some turnovers. The game could be very ugly for the Ravens. And if that happens, I doubt you'll find it funny.

No way we score 40 on them. Lets not forget this is Rex. Only Manning seems to score that much against him. Remember, the 07 Patriots couldn't even score 30 on that below average defense.

I don't see their offense being anything special, or at least not until Holmes comes back. The defense on the other hand will be lethal. They were #1 last year, with only one corner, and no premier pass rusher. I don't think they've upgraded much for a pass rusher, but the corners will make it a lot easier to get pressure.

I predict we win, but it will most likely be a 10-13, or 12-9 slugfest.

While I agree that scoring 40 probably won't happen(would be awesome though). I seriously doubt there D is shutting us down. I think we win by ten, no clue what the final score would be. If I had to guess would say 17-7(us).

Flacco is the key to this game. He didnt look good last year(at least late last year) against the blitz. He took too many sacks. That couldve been due to his injury or lack of quality receivers which wont be an issue this season. We all know Rex likes to pressure the QB but if Flacco can get the ball into the hands of our playmakers early on and often we'll be in good shape.

Dont forget, our offense has been able to practice against Rex's schemes. Im sure he will switch it up a little, but I am also sure he will throw some familiar ones out too.

To be honest, I think the Jets jumped the shark and got Jason Taylor too soon.

Now that Adalius Thomas is available, I think they would much rather have him instead of Jason Taylor. Now there's really not any room for Adalius. I was really looking forward to him playing for the Jets, and shutting up all the Patriot fans who say he was the reason their defense sucked.

But either way, their defense is getting Kris Jenkins back. And in Week 1, they will most likely be very healthy compared to later in the season.

Rex is coming after the Ravens for passing over him for the head coaching job. He probably doesn't have much against Harbaugh, but I'm sure he has some animosity for the organization. It will be an all out effort, for sure.

And... not that this has to do with how the Ravens offense does. But we don't even know if Reed is coming back. People can speculate, but the fact is... we don't know.

This will absolutely be a statement game.
Everyone I know who is a fan of the NFL agrees that the Jets appear on paper to be the team to beat.

I think everyone is also wondering what Boldin is going to do for us and Flacco.

That would be funny, but isn't this the team that held Drew Brees without a touchdown? Unless Peyton Manning dons #5, I don't think we're scoring 40 against them.

To be fair, the Bills didn't allow a TD pass from Brees either.

I cant see either team going over 20, and I can only really see one team maxing out at 17. Sanchez would have to have improved greatly in his looks to be able to score with his arm IMO, and Shonne Green is a back that plays exactly into our defenses hands, single cut north and south physical runner. On offense we have to exploit their LBs and FS in coverage especially with our TEs. The Jets were so determined to stop Clark in the AFC Champ game last year they were subbing out LBs in their nickel Ds with a backup safety.

Sucks that it has to be the first game of the season. Both teams have lots of new pieces and there wont be much room for experimenting. It would have been nice to open up with the Browns and throw all the rookies in there to see what they can do.

I know what you mean but have to disagree. I'm happy both teams are playing each other to kick off the year.

A lot of people believes] the Jets are a juggernaut now because of their seemingly "great" acquisitions. The Ravens made one of the bigger trades in the off-season and had a top-notch draft according a lot of "experts".

Both teams look like play-off teams in 2010 and can make a statement with a big win to start the season.

This game will be 17-13 or something like that. We are going to run the ball against them, their run defense isn't that great.

The Jets offseason was scary, but I still remember how they were 7-7 and only got in because the Colts and Bengals rested their starters.

Should be a tough defensive match-up. Probably low-scoring and close. I wouldn't be surprised if it went either way, Rex Ryan has done a fantastic job of putting together a talented team.

jets smets, like twoo said these guys arent the big bad wolf everybody crowns them to be. we have mr. ray rice on our side, we had a outstanding draft imo, and we made a huge trade for boldin. jets are a good team, but i am not that sold on sanchez. he is going to have to do some type of damage to our defense and i dont see that happening. they are not that good to depend on there defense the whole game. they will have to make some type of noise on offense, and with our defense looking like a top 5 defense this year i just dont see it happening against us.

17-7 Ravens. I don't see many of the Jets moves besides Holmes as "upgrades". I do think they are a good team and will make playoffs but I think most people are overrating them. I love the offseason moves we made(trade/draft) and think we upgraded our team significantly. You don't have to sign big named players to make an impact, imo.

Either way it will be a hard hitting and fun game to watch. Also will be very good for whoever wins to start the year off with a big victory like that.

This game will definitely show what both teams are made of. The pressure is on the home team - Jets, and also on Mark Sanchez. I expect to be a SLUGFEST, very much like a Steelers game. Ravens thrive in games like these, so I certainly like our chances.
Putting 40 points on them is a stretch, I would be happy with 25-27 or even less, as long as we win.

Q is the man!
Elite player, great personality, a great teammate, a fierce competitor.

And Sizzle's strongest competition as ugliest dude on the team. Maybe the offensive MVP in that regard??
