you know what would be cool if we were able to trade for asante samuels from the eagles
So you switch from Nnamdi Asomugha to Asante Samuel? Why stop there if you could take Darrelle Revis too? This is not Madden, and you can't have every superstar in the league.

im just saying we need help in the DB area of the defence
Well, we do need some help, but we actually don't need a starter in the CB position. With a good pass rush, Foxworth and Webb should perform adequately. They stepped up their game with experience with Mattison's schemes, and a year working with him should do wonders.

All we need is a good, servicable corner that can step up when his number is called.

JUSS ANSWER THIS Y R U GUYS THINKING SO NEGITIVELY TOWARDS THE TRADE WOULDNT YOU NNUMANDI ASOUMGHA ON THE RAVENS JUST THINK POSSITIVE AND WE MIGHT JUST GET HIM. OZZIE WILL KEEP THE FANS HAPPY AND THE PRE-SEASON IS FAR FROM US RIGHT NOW SO WE MIGHT GET HIM JUST THINK POSSITIVE BECAUSE WE COULD USE HIM ON OUR TEAM FOR SOME CB HELP.
SO Ozzie's job is to make the fans happy? I dont think so. He can careless about what we think.

Although Nnamdi is a great player, he is a corner. Gaither has the potential to be a perrenial pro bowler at LT. Considering that the Ravens have finally found their franchise QB it's really important to keep him protected. Now I do think Oher can play LT, but my doubt is whether or not any of our other backups are ready to start at RT. Cousins looked really shaky against the Steelers and our other players in that position are pretty inexperienced as well.

If Ozzie does make the deal, I'll be excited to get a great corner but I think LT is a more valuable position.

I don't know about all that. The fans do pay him his salary and all by actually attending the games and buying the merchandise. If we stop going, he stops getting money because he'll eventually get fired.

With that said, I think that the moves he's made have seriously addressed the biggest concerns for the team. Personally, I'm pleased.

I also see the Ravens remaining intact and don't see a lot of trades but who knows. I just don't think they plan on messing with the mix too much. Just a few tweaks to the recipe are all we need. We've made two playoff appearances and did great against the Patriots. We just failed to put points on the board at times and that really hurt us.

can we get nnumandi asoumgha?? he is the ultimate missing puzzle for our team really he is the ultimate shutdown coner that will help out our DB situation. if we trade gaither and a 1st rnd pick and even troy smith then we can get him wearing purple!!
I don't post often, but I had to point this out. This is one of the worst trades I could imagine for ONE player. Trading gaither and maybe a 3rd or 4th for aso is one thing, but trading gaither a first and troy is the most lopsided trade idea I have ever heard of. Please do not take over Ozzie's job, and if you do get into the NFL go to the browns. :th_snapoutofit:

That is the characteristic of the best GM in the league, always thinking the best for the team and not for pleasing the fans.

but we never know what is going to happen right

Right, anything can happen. For all I know, an alien might abduct me. This trade might happen. Roethlisberger got consent.

But where is the CREDIBILITY?

How about

Bills get:
Gaither

We get:
McKelvin
2nd or 3rd round
McKelvin is one of the few young talents they have.

Gaither is a young, quality player too but I don't see that deal going down.

If we didn't change a thing about our team, we are easily better than the team we had last year. YES I would love to see us pick up a CB to help stop the exploitation of our secondary, but BELIEVE me when I tell you it could ALWAYS be worse. We have one of the most successful franchises in NFL history... The Ravens are a relatively young franchise with alot of sucess in its short 14 years... Be grateful that our front seven is shaping up to be our best unit ever AND we dont have an offense that has to RELY on the leg of the PK to win games! With all of that said, If we do manage to get Aso, I to will greet him at the airport!!!

Err, no. Real fans wouldn't stop watching, supporting or otherwise investing in the Ravens just because Ozzie isn't concerned with pleasing us. You're making too direct a link between Ozzie's actions and fan happiness. It just doesn't matter and I'm glad it doesn't (the last thing I want is Ozzie giving a crap about what we think). There are a million things for Ozzie to do and fan happiness is 1,000,001 on the list.

We'll be happy because he does his job well... it's a passive relationship and we are spectators, not participants.

The Raiders just drafted two offensive tackles, one of which is pretty equal to gaither as far as athleticism and "talent", but raw in skills.

The Raiders are not the best dept. in the league, but they would not give up their best corner for an offensive tackle who has no where near the track record of NA.

Simply put, this deal will never happen, except in Madden, which is seemingly how people base their trade logic.

I hate to be critical of fans of my own team, but come on now, think about it. Gaither is worth nothing to the Raiders in comparison to NA, and troy smith does not sweeten the deal either, he is a 5th round pick with 2-3 games experience.
Totally agree with this post. Gaither is better staying. sure we need a corner, we also needed WR LAST YEAR. The Ravens will be fine the way it is. I would expect we pick up some CB after the first cuts...

I could be wrong but I think the the Raiders have replaced Davis with a look-a-like. Their draft was too solid and the trade for Campbell too sensible for Al to still be in charge.
I heard league sources report that Raiders management had an intern lure Al into a closet with a box set of Matlock reruns and had a guy smother him with an ether-soaked rag for 3 days.

We can all post what trades we'd like to see here, but in terms of predicting, it's just speculation and wishful thinking. I don't think NFL insiders have any info, much less us.

More activity will be on teams cutting vets after the draft and other teams picking them up.

The Ravens will be fine by the season opener. We'll probably sign a veteran that can still play as insurance for Washington and Webb, just as long as it isn't Frank Walker. I just hope Webb and Washington can make full recoveries.

I think he cares about making the fans happy, absolutely. The way he does that is by separating himself from our wants, and doing what he does best. Making sound football decisions and constantly evaluating/bringing in players that will fit the Ravens mold to ensure team chemistry and a successful product on the field. That includes going against the grain in some of our opinions, allowing the EXPERTS around him have input into the decision making process, and lastly, doing what REAL LEADERS do. Making the tough choices, even though at the time it may not be evident or popular to the masses. His track record speaks for itself. And if I'm not mistaken, he's made a lot of fans happy in the process! In him we trust, right? Hell yeah, I do!

So we seem to have a split crew about who would do this and who wouldn't. I don't want to hear the same crap that everyone is saying. We know this isn't Madden but we as fans need to do something to pass time in between off-season and the way most fans to that is talk about their team and the possibilities of what they can do.

So who would give up our Franchise LT for Nnamdi, I most certainly would.

Not I. The key there (to me) is franchise left tackle. Our Line plays really well together, and getting rid of Gaither makes Oher move to LT, creating uncertainty at the RT. However, I do fear contract negotiations with Gaither for sure. I don't think he's going to like the sound of "right tackle money".

RT @ek1320: You said strictly rumor about Nmandi to BLT but heard it again from Ravens employee. Still hearing nothing? ... Not happening.
