Ravens Forever Linked To Tim Tebow

27 posts in this topic

"The Ravens will forever be linked as the other party in the highly controversial Tebow deal. " -- James Walker, ESPN

This is an interesting development I hadn't considered at first. I'm gona go way out on a limb and say we got the better end of this deal. A draft that could put us over the top could also be Josh McDaniels' demise... Time will tell. :baltimore-ravens:

Or we got a good deal and the Broncos got someone that will help their franchise in their future. It could be win-win.

Unless Tim Tebow develops into a winning starter for the Broncos, the Ravens will end up getting the better end of the deal by default. For Denver to have given up so much for a project of a player, that doesn't seem too sensible. Sure, the kid has a lot of upside in some coaches' eyes, but until he can become a good passer, he won't be anything more than a gimmick player in the NFL.

Remember, even the best mobile Super Bowl-winning QBs didn't win a championship until they developed into better passers.

The only way the Ravens are linked to Tim Tebow is if he is actually on the field when the Broncos come to Baltimore this seeason.

And the permanent link is that when Terrell Suggs sacks him... Tebow will forever remember the pain.

I am rooting for Tim I know he will turn out successful his work sheet is just to awesome for him to completely fail the guy doesn't know failure, I would take him before alot of QBs around the NFL.

I don't see why Tim Tebow is so controversial.

I found a very interesting article that suggests there should have been very few questions surrounding him: Tebow

From I've seen of Tebow's workouts, he was throwing behind, overthrowing, underthrowing guys on the run like crazy. I'm not sure correcting his throwing motion will be enough to overcome his inaccuracy. He'll probably be a good wildcat quarterback at best.

Regardless of how good Tim Tebow does in the NFL we STILL got the better end of the deal. It's not like we were looking at Tebow to draft him. So it's hard to compare who got the better "deal" or "won" this trade.

I was ecstatic when we got a 3rd and 4th again, and we did what we had to do with the picks.

Unless Tim Tebow leads the Broncos to the playoffs in 5 years from now and they somehow beat us the "link will" forever be irrelevant.

I see what you're getting at but I disagree that it's not an easy comparison. They traded for a player we traded for players. They valued that player equivalent to what they could've gotten for those 3 picks. With those 3 picks we got players who could make an impact. Compare the impact and you can see who won the deal. On paper, if immediacy of contribution counts for anything, gotta say we're front-running at this point.

Haha, and if you add in the constant drama they're going to face when Tebow throws in pre-season or when Orton has a bad game I think we're definitely going to end up with the better deal. :baltimore-ravens: :baltimore-ravens: :baltimore-ravens:

The Ravens are forever linked to the ridiculous deal that the Broncos made, perhaps. Honestly, the "legend" of Tebow will either go down as "The Broncos traded three picks for one of the biggest sleepers in the history of the Draft." or "The Broncos bit on the greatest college quarterback, and sacrificed a large chunk of a deep draft on a first round bust". When all's said and done, and no one's going to really mention the Ravens when it comes to the trade for Tebow. If he's good, all that's going to be said is the Broncos made a fantastic decision. If he's nothing but a gimmick or back up, then you'll just hear how the Broncos made a huge mistake on the bust.

However, Raven fans will remember it as the Day Ozzie Robbed Denver.

Haha, ATD, forever the pessimist. Can't blame you though, that's what being a fan of sports in Maryland does to ya. Yea, regardless of what happens with Tebow, we mugged 'em.

I'm not really a pessimist about it. I'm just saying, with all the fanfare Tebow's earned since college, any talk in the future of the deal is going to be all about him, and how he did or did not make it in the pro's when Denver made the great/poor decision to spend three high value picks on him.

I'd prefer that Tebow becomes a bust. It would be funny to see that because after all this hype about him and the trade that Denver made with us for that pick, I would laugh so hard to watch blow up in their faces. It would be delightful if we end up contributing to him failing miserably in Denver.

And come to think of it, who doesn't think Tebow would've been there by the time the Broncos were back on the board at 43? Mccoy and Clausen didn't even go by then.

Broncos I think overreacted and pretty much gave us one of the best drafts of recent years. They will forever be second guessing that decision, and wondering who they let slip through their hands with those other picks.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills really wanted Tebow. They might have snagged him before Jimmy Clausen and McCoy.

Haha, stupid owners.

the other area to look at is the moral aspect of tebow can he help be a moral compass in the locker room
I love Tebow the person, he is a very good guy coming out of college and was a great player in college. So I wont say anything about if I think he will be good or not.

That being said noone is going to care about his moral compass or leadership abilities if he can't start and be an effective starter. I know he was such a great player and leader in college but that won't translate to the NFL if he doesn't have success on the field. In short players don't listen to backups/unsuccessful starters.

The Broncos panicked and showed their urgency to pick up Tebow, in return we get Kindle, Dickson, Pitta. That almost doesn't seem fair.

I wonder how far he would have dropped if the Broncos didn't grab him with a first round pick. Maybe they could have gotten him in the 5th or 6th round, or even signed him undrafted.

Ahhh, Denver. Making the offseason fun. How long until they drive this quarterback away after painting him as the future of the franchise?

i dont like TEBOW!! HE IS NOT NFL READY AND I HOPE HE HAS A HORRIBLE CAREER

Eh, it's one thing to not want a guy on your team. It's another to wish ill on a guy that is a class act and deserves a chance to achieve his dreams. It's not his fault the ESPN hype machine has been following him around forever. He's not cocky or obnoxious and obviously leaves everything on the field every game he plays in. Lighten up.

Uh, does anyone remember who we traded up with to get Flacco? And if so do you care? There's no link. There are dozens of trades in every draft. We didn't want Tebow, Denver did. This is the basis of this and every trade. We got players we want and they got players they want. No wins, only hits and misses.

Somebody on the Radio today said that McDaniels and the Broncos believed that the Patriots were going to draft Tebow.

IMO, I know the Patriots wined and dined Tebow quite a lot with his visit to NE. But c'mon Broncos! Did you really think the Patriots would draft Tebow in the first?!? Patriots front office over the past few years have proven smarter than that.

What's even worse the Broncos could've had him a few picks earlier, but instead threw away the majority of the draft to pick him a few picks later.

They got scared.

I agree with this 100 percent. While I wouldn't want him on my team as I feel he isn't going to be that great in the NFL. I would never wish ill will on a kid like this.
