Ahhh I love the fact Penn lost! Never really cared for him much(as skilled as he is). I love Frankie Edgar to, ever since the WEC days.

Brock is probably going to beat Carwin but he better not try to strike with him. Carwin just isn't big enough to stop the takedowns.

I personally am not a fan of Brock Lesnar and don't think he belongs in the UFC. He gets you down, puts all his weight on you and that's all he is capable of doing simple because of his sheer massive size.

He has not stood up and traded with anyone! The moment he even thought about it in a fight was against Mir and it almost ended quickly which resulted in him taking him down.

The only UFC tools he has is his wrestling, again the only thing that keeps him alive. The Heavyweight limit of 265 is too much and it creates too many mismatches. Considering that Lesnar walks around at AT LEAST 280 pounds while most other are walking around 220-240, for this reason the Heavyweight limit should be around 240 IMO. It just seems stupid.

If Lesnar did not have his sheer strength and size he would get demolished in the UFC, this is the only reason why he does not take a pounding.

He hasn't traded with anyone? he retired Herring by breaking his eyesocket with his first punch and knocked out Couture to win the title.

Try again.

PS: Mods: Why was the name of the thread changed? I mean I know when you say MMA the phonetic sound is with an "E" but it still looks like bad grammar.

eg

An apple? - correct

An Mixed Martial Arts Discussion thread? - incorrect

Agreed, as much as I don't really like Lesnar he has traded in a few fights. If you can take people down you stick with what works(imo of course). I do think that he is just too big for anyone in the heavyweight division but again that is not his fault either. He cuts to make his weight just like many others in other divisions do to. He walks around at way more than 280, Mir was at 264 at his last fight and is nowhere near as big as Lesnar. Good for him to know how to cut that weight(yet another advantage from wrestling).

I can't wait for the Shogun/Machida fight! I love Shogun so I have been waiting for this fight since the first one ended.

Another one is the Rampage/Evans fight. Love it when the two guys hate each other, makes the fight more interesting.

How do I have to try again? You explained it for me, landing 1 PUNCH is not trading. Bottom line he doesn't belong in the best MMA league in the world. He wouldn't be where he is if he didn't have his sheer size and was beating up on people half his size.

After watching that last Anderson Silva fight I don't know if I'm willing to spend another 50 bucks to watch that crap, it was completely embarrassing. Count me OUT on the next few Silva cards.

So Brock wouldn't be heavyweight champion if it wasn't for his abilities? WOW what a shocker. Who would have thought someone could dominate a division with their physical attributes?

:gaah:

My point is he's beating up people that he shouldn't even be in the same weight class as. Brock Lesnar DOES NOT BELONG in the Heavyweight divison, like I said if the Heavyweight limit was 235 or 240 pounds he would get destroyed. It's a big advantage when you have AT LEAST 30 pound of PURE MUSCLE more than your opponent, this is the reason why there is weight classes in the first place.

Do you even realize how much of a difference that is? This would be like a Light Heavyweight constantly fighting in the Welterweight division, who is going to have the advantage when it comes to physical attributes.

Mixed thoughts on Brock,I for one love his brutality and love the entertainment he brings, his fights are fast paced, unlike Silva who dances for 25 minutes and bores the hell out of you(his last 2 fights were like this),it isnt Brocks fault UFC doesn't incorporate a Super Heavyweight Division, and as long as he makes 265 weight he is fine.
Other fighters need to learn how to take Brock,Mir has submitted him,and he beat a Randy Coutre that maybe on his way out.Randy is awesome but as much as he doesnt want to admit age catches up to you, then again Brock is powerhouse.
Training my self to start a mma career and I am at 250 atm,was 275 and mind you will probabaly be 235 or so when I fight in September,UFC heayweight division is wide open 206-265,that is the biggest weight difference in all the weight classes, maybe they should incorporate a Super division but until then we can't fault Brock for being his size

Another thing alot of people say that Brock is a standup only, they forget he also has a wrestling background, and no not the WWE,he is an accomplished amateur wrestler. If he does learn some decent ground submissions tho he will be dangerous as hell
I consider myself a heavyweight ,but my muscle mass is no where near as much as Brock,at this moment if given a chance I wouldn't want to fight him, give me 2 years or so maybe

Glad I am not the only one. Hell I havent watched a Silva fight since the Thales Lettes(sp?) "fight". I don't think Silva is the best fighter in the world like so many say. He sure isn't a good entertainer.

Thats wierd I haven't heard anyone say he is standup only. I cant fault him for being good at what he does or how big he is. Lesnar is one of those guys that have people who love him or hate him. There is rarely an in between. I hated him when he first got to the UFC but I am one of those in between guys now :).

@xxSizzlexx You have a good point about him being way to big to fight most of those guys in the heavyweight division. Problem is they can't have a super heavy weight because there arent many guys his size with his physical gifts. The UFC doesn't(Dana White in particular) like to put on bad/boring fights. So I guess we will have to deal with it for now :(.

I have been watching more WEC recently. Am excited about the Shogun/Machida rematch. My money is on Shogun!!!

You guys make good points about Lesnar, I guess you can't fault him because he is an absolute freak lol. Makes sense on why they don't have a super-heavyweight division because there probably aren't that many physical specimens like Lesnar.

I for one think it will be a VERY quick fight if he tries to stand with Carwin, that dude has NASTY power in his hands. Very underrated, he dropped Mir like he was a middleweight.

Jon "Bones" Jones is an up and coming fighter(my favorite newbie), check out my sig for a clip on him. He is an amazing young talent and the brother of Arthur Jones (yes the one we just drafted :)).

I love GSP- he is hands down the best fighter. I will say that till I see someone win more than one round against him. It is amazing what he does to all the "number 1" contenders.

Forrest Griffen is just a really likeable guy, not sure how someone wouldn't like him :).

Lidell is the reason I started watching, so nuff said there. He better beat Ortiz though because man what a crappy way to go out lol.

Shogun is one of my favorite. Love watching him fight, first fight I saw him in was against Rampage(total domination). Only time I have ever seen Rampage look like he didnt want to fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKWyJg4sI6s check it out if you haven't seen it. It was only his fourth fight in Pride to.

Rampage is funny as hell so I cheer for him to, unless he fights Shogun again :).

Man I have a lot of favorites lol. Don't want to leave out Frankie Edgar, ever since WEC I have liked this kid. SO glad he beat Penn

I know the argument, I've heard it before. The spread between 206 to 265lb means most HW fights leave someone at a weight disadvantage, and the MMA heavyweights would be dominated by someone at the max weight right? so how do you explain 230lb Fedor remaining undefeated at 33 being the best HW in the world? Brett Rogers like Brock turns up at 280lb. Rogers was undefeated, stronger, and has fists like Carwins yet Fedor knocked him out.

The bottom line is nothing Brock does is an illegal advantage, every fighter weighs more on fight day after cutting to make weight. I don't remember anyone complaining or thinking they're going to lose to Brock because he turns up at 280lb. It's an excuse that fighters don't buy into.

So unfortunately Koscheck frustrated Paul Daly so much that Daly popped him a decent one after the fight. He will be getting suspended for sure, and it's something I've never seen in the UFC.

"He'll never come back, I don't care if he's the best 170-pounder in the world. He's never coming back here. There's no excuse for that. You never hit a guy like that after the bell"

- Dana White

Personally I could see why he was angry, Koscheck needs disciplinary action for trying to deceive the officials again. It was still incredibly stupid.

- I never thought I'd see Machidas lights put out.
