Some of them were tendered, meaning they were assigned a value that another team would have to give to the Ravens if they wanted to pursue the player. Most of the players that have been tendered, have already signed their tenders, meaning they'll be on the team next season (unless traded -- restricted free agents cannot be traded until their tenders are signed, as they technically do not have a playing contract to deal BUT are not free to sign with any team they please.) I forget what happens if a player does not sign, but I know they do not automatically become unrestricted free agents.

They were still testing the market if they didn't signed their tender. The deadline for signing their tender was 4/15. But technically they have until 6/15 to sign their tender before they start losing salary.

These guys are now forced to sign their tenders or else they can't play in 2010. They also may be holding out for a new contract negotiation.

So expect these guys to be part of the team no later than 6/15/10.

I noticed that McClain and others who hadn't signed still participated in the voluntary workouts, so it's pretty obvious they want to be here or they wouldn't have bothered.

I thought we signed Koch to a multi year deal last year?
This is the second straight year we've given Koch a second round tender. Koch actually signed his tender back on 3/29. He will be signing a longer contract sometime soon , one has to believe.

If they didn't sign their tenders by now, they will wait after the draft. I got a feeling there might be some DEAL "cooking" somewhere..... :mord-hamecon:

So if Gaither hasn't signed his tender does that mean we can't deal him on draft day?
We can still trade him. His rights will be traded. When a player doesn't sign his tender it just means that player loses his negotiating rights with other teams. Another team just can't come in and sign Gaither to an offer sheet and relinquish a draft pick.

If he gets traded he will probably renegotiate his contract with the new team. If not, then he still needs to sign his one year tender before he starts losing money on 6/15/10.
