Yes, its possible but not very likely. With weapons like Rice, McGahee, Boldin. Mason, Heap and Stallworth, I'm sure Troy could move the football. However, he's still an average at-best QB and the team would struggle to make the play-offs with him starting.

Joe was average at-best in his rookie year. I won't compare him to the below average QB we had that won us a super bowl just because that defense was better but hey, if we pick up the right guys in the draft you never know what our D could look like next year.

THIS is the kinda thread we need more of. :baltimore-ravens: :baltimore-ravens: :baltimore-ravens:

For a rookie, Joe had a good year. Not a great year, but a good year... for a rookie. Especially with the poise he showed for nearly the whole season. Smith was solid in the few games he played in... filling in due to injuries. While solid, I didn't see a quarterback that could carry a team for 16 games and into the post season. Smith may be average at best, but he's solid as a back-up.

And exactly how is this the kind of thread we need more of?

Rewind! Joe Flacco did NOT get us to the AFC Title game. He certainly helped though. Our stellar D and Run game got us there. I Love Flacco as much as the next fan, but he did not do it alone. Game Manager at the most, His hands were tied up in double knots from Cam and Harbs not allowing him to make crucial throws when we could have used them. Just getting the facts out there

If Joe Flacco were to get hurt and out for the season early in the year, would we still have a chance to get into the playoffs?

Without Flacco the Ravens would be mediocre with beck or Smith- we should snag hasselbeck while we got a chance!

It'd have to be a pretty significant injury to bench Flacco. The guy earned my respect when I read that he couldn't even sit down on the plane after the week 3 game and played the whole season with a hip/ankle injury and was constantly in physical therapy and limited on the practice field.

Well considering we are a running team and we got by with an injured flacco last season I definitely think we could.
I will take Troy Smith with Q, D-Mase, and Stallworth almost as much as an injured Flacco with D-Mase, Clayton, and Washington. Troy has some potential and I'd give us a good 65% at making the playoffs with him but I think we'd just sign the best vet on the market unless and at least have him on the bench like Marc Bulger.

I know I said Bulger but Bulger isnt actually too bad, he just had the worst line in football. He wouldnt be too bad with some good protection and would be a viable option if Troy sucks the nut
