49ers Aquire Ted Ginn

Questions remain though:
How well will Alex Smith perform this year at quarterback? He's horribly inconsistent, and I don't see them starting David Carr. Unless some big moves are made by them to draft a quarterback (which I don't see happening), it's going to be Smith throwing again.

Will Ginn improve or show any consistency? Same issue as Smith only at wide out. Ginn disappears more often than not (although he is explosive in the return game), but shows promise every now and then. If he progresses, it could give the Niners a nice corp for the future.

It's a decent move for the 49ers. Adds more young depth and a kick returner.

I'm just glad that we can notch another WR off the new threads section in Ravens talk.

Hmm so who is gonna start for the 49ers at #1? Morgan, Crabtree or Ginn? I would think it'd be Crabtree, but Morgan led team in receptions and yards last season didnt he?

No kidding...
You'd think after getting Boldin and Stallworth to play alongside Mason, the masses would be satisfied...

I'm more concerned about rejuvenating the "vaunted Ravens D"

Crabtree. Morgan led over Crabtree mostly because he held out for the majority of the season. Honestly, if he had played all 16 games, I think he would have had as solid a year as you can have with Alex Smith throwing the ball. There is no way Ginn would get the #1 spot over Morgan and Crabtree.

I figure it'll end up with Crabtree at #1, Morgan at 2, and Ginn at 3. However, with Vernon Davis, Ginn will probably not get very many looks.

Well said, AwakenTheDemon.
The only major role I see Ginn having in SF is that of the kick returner and we all know he excels in that role.

Well it depends, I mean the SF offense is different from the Dolphisn offense. I think Ginn will be more effective because SF is a spread offense and Ginn can get deep. Plus it depends on the QB.

Smith has a weak arm though so I'm not sure Ginn will see many deep balls.

Ginn went from one team that focused on the run to another team that is more run focused. And like Ed_Reed said, Smith is not known for arm strength. Last year on Miami, Ginn played in all 16 games, and started 12. He finished the season with 38 receptions for 454 yards and 1 touchdown. I would be very surprised to see him improve over those numbers at all. At most, he may have maybe two touchdowns. Despite what kind of system Ginn is going to be in while a 49er, there's just too many people ahead of him on the "Go-To Guy" List.

You and me both, we will be injecting youth to the D come draft day.
