I heard a rumor that Bill Cower left Pittsburgh because they wouldn't pay him 8 million dollars a year. Has anyone else heard this?

Why would you want to see Cowher coaching the Ravens? I think bringing Cowher to Baltimore would make us look like bigger idiots then the Browns do when they take our washed up players. We do not need the scraps from another team in our division. I am sure we will find a great coach not named Cowher.

Plus the Ravens would have to shelve out

Big, big, bucks to Cowher in order to leave

As they would be dumb in order to do that.

Which I know they aren't.

Well I believe that he is the most quilifed person out there, i think he would do a fine job, and that he is not washed up, and from what i have seen Jamal Lewis doesn't look washed up or Derak Anderson. Also i dont believe im the only one wanting Cowher, since according to yahoo and the baltimore sun he is one of the people there most considering

Why is everyone complaining about the money situation? If Biscotti wants to win, he needs to put up the big bucks. Also, its his money. Not ours, dont act like it is.

I agree, people seem to forget that until their SB win 2 yrs ago that Cowher was known as Bill "Choker", and why was that? c-mon people sure he was a good coach but not this great HC the media and alot of others make him out to be, and on top of that, how long will Cowher stick around? possibility 3-4 yrs at the most, do you really think this team right now can win the SB in a 3 or 4 yr window?.........this franchise needs another guy like Billlick that can led them 8-10yrs, not simply 3 or 4 yrs at best

What? A fluke? Yep... winning a SB is a total fluke... no talent needed at all. No Defence? Look at the past few seasons stats, boy. AndyMac joined today, perhaps he hasn't done the research yet.

i believe that we will pick the best possible option for us to go with...i mean our search started with over 30 options and its been tweaked and wittled down to less than that now...to me Cowher seems like the most reasonable, most logical and the most smartest guy to with at this point after reading more into everything

and Ray Lewis has never been that great

no offense dude, but what planet are you from?!

None taken.... he had his good years, but they're long past. He was a better motivator for that defense than a linebacker.

I firmly believe that the only way the Ravens are going to get back on track next year is to hire an experienced head coach with a track record of success. That means either Bill Cowher or Marty Schottenheimer. End of conversation. If the fans want more of the same kind of nonsense and visual punishment that we were subjected to this year, then go ahead an hire someone of unknown qualification, including Rex Ryan. Hopefully, either Cowher or Shottenheimer can be convinced to come to Baltimore instead of staying away from the game for another year. Personally, I've wanted Cowher right from the get go. I know some of the members here have expressed concern or distaste for the fact that he's won only one Super Bowl. Well, that's all Brian Billick won too. What I'm most interested in is someone at least giving us a chance to get there and building a team that will play with intelligence, discipline and professionalism-all ingredients sadly missing from this past Ravens team. I can assure you, Cowher will give us that much. Show him the money and get it done!!

.... No offense, no defense! The SB was a fluke, and then they let the winning QB go. This HAS to be the dumbest franchise in history!

Firing Billick was a good start...

LOL...how can someone say that our super bowl was a fluke? You have no idea about football nor the Ravens at all. Lets see in 2000 we set a record for the fewest points allowed in a single season. We set a record in the SUPER BOWL for the fewest total yards allowed in a super bowl. Plus we were almost the 1st team to pull a shutout in SUPER BOWL HISTORY. I guess we shouldn't have scored so many points or we would of. I guess all that was a fluke too?

Overall hes the same as Billick. 1 championship.

in championship terms, yes. but he is a disciplinarian and demands only the best from his players, and that is exactly what we need!

Newsome needs to get canned too, so you can get someone who knows how to find good players.

Find good players? I think that's what he does, and he's damn good at it too. The Ravens for the most part, drafts excellent. We aren't a cut and paste team like the Redskins.

Newsome stays , he's one of the best at what he does.

well...as of right now...it really LOOKS like Cowboys Assistant Coach Jason Garrett will get the job (just seems that way) but seeing how there are more aspects to be taken into account here, we will wait until then make the best possible Option for us to go with.

You want to win people? The bring in a guy with a proven track record. Bring in MARTY SCHOTTENHEIMER. Our defense can take Marty-Ball to the next level.

Jason Garrett is an unknown as head coach, Cowher is loving his studio gig way too much to return to the sidelines, especially for a former division rival. Forget bringing in guys from college, the way college football is now, they don't transition well to the NFL (Petrino, Spurrier, Saban, etc).

I'm wondering why we're even bothering to interview Marty's son. He's been the OC for the NY Jets for the last 2-3 seasons, during which their offense ranked 25th and 26th. How can this possibly look good on a resume? Maybe this is why Marty requested to be interviewed last...in order to give his kid a shot first.

MARTY dude...we need you. Bring your fired-up a**-kicking self to Baltimore!

MARTY SCHOTTENHEIMER, HEAD COACH, BALTIMORE RAVENS "WE'RE ON A freaking' ROLL!!"

Personally, I think that we should get a coach who has a lot of experience with a winning offense. I think that if Cowher is out of the picture than we should get either Caldwell from that team in Indy who shall not be named or Garrett from Dallas.

well now i think that Cowher has ultimately elimated himself from our coaching "race" as there has been no further talks and cowher sent out a statement stating that he plans to stick by what he said last season and stay out of it at least for a few more seasons if not for good.....

in which is why i feel that Jason Garret...is our best possible man to go after and i feel that with his mind set and his offensive way of thinking and what not....will have great pay offs for us in the long and short run of things....and bring a new sense of "offense" to this team...and show that this team DOES have offense and in which we must be respected, on not only one side of hte football but BOTH sides...having a strong offense, compliemented by a high power Defense....

Apparently, Cowher hasn't been even contacted as of today. That's a pretty good indication that the Ravens were never seriously going to pursue him, although that surprises me. Maybe I'm just looking at it from my perspective if I was owner. I just don't know what hiring an unknown quanity is going to prove with a team that's set in it's ways, does what it wants and runs the asylum. If Cowher isn't coming here, then Marty would have to be my second choice. I hear that's who Ozzie wants so hopefully his opinion will override the owner's fixation on Garrett from Dallas. Come on Steve, the guy's only 41 years old. These players will eat him alive. Schottenheimer to the rescue!!!

i think that when Cowher stated that he wanted to stay out of it at least for another season or so....possibly forever, he ultimately spoke for himself again....because in the end...its neither you nor i that decides whether he comes back or not...the only that can decide that...is Cowher himself.

Even Marty Schottenheimer started out as a cordinator somewhere. All they need is a chance you never know Jason Garrett could be the next Jon Gruden with his offensive schemes. To hear people like Troy Aikman say that Garrett is a genius is just helping Garrett's case to be given a HCing job, whether its with us or not.

and in which i could see Garrett has a logical option to go with....i mean if we dont get Marty...then i think Garret would be the best runner up (in my oppinion) but again...that decision is made by the ravens Front office, not the fans.

Hell Yes! I don't want some former steeler yelling at my player and telling them what to do!

I like Jim Caldwell, Jim Schwartz, Marty Schottenheimer, Mike Singletary, and Rex Ryan. I think Rex will be the best decision so far. It will be an easy transition, he knows all the staff, knows all the player, and the players would walk through fire for him. I don't know if he gives out tough love or wants love by being someone's friend. Ever since he was our defensive coordinator we've had some disciplinary problems. It could be because of Billick's treat em like a men policy aka I'm too tired to yell at people and help them become better men as well as players policy. I just don't want any reports of powder puff practices. I want a tough as nails, hire an ex-Navy SEAL/Marine Corps drill sargeant, run till you pass out, to be the best you gotta beat the best kinda off-season, pre-season, post-season, inbetween-season, regular season practices we need. I think we should to take a clip out of the movie Remeber The Titans. We will train to be perfect in every aspect of the game! Poor discipline and non-imporving procatices might not be the case because after all it was the Brian Billick Show staring Brian Billick not the I Dream of Rex show.

A person I do know who will have respect and run a tight and tough ship is Mike Singletary. He used to be our linebackers coach. Singletary is probably the only person who can intimidate Ray Lewis.

My perfect staff would be Rex as HC, Mike Singletary as DC, and Josh McDaniels as OC

You have to check this out this is some amaizing stuff!

Mike Singletary

i saw that video! hehe....i think that he's also in the mix but only the team and its officals know for certain on whether he is or he isnt....if we can just get a guy in here that can run this team well and get it back to where it needs to be at and get back to its winning ways while maintaining its identity of a powerhouse while having new faces emerge (like an explosive offense)...i think we could very well have a good coach on our hands..but that takes time..and with time comes knowledge and with knowledge comes respect and Victory....
