Merged - Marshall Traded To The Dolphins
The Denver Broncos are trading wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick in next week's NFL draft and what league sources say is an additional second-round pick in 2011.

Marshall
The trade is contingent upon the league processing the paperwork and Marshall passing his physical, neither of which is expected to be an issue on Wednesday.

Marshall is scheduled to fly to Miami to take his physical and, if he passes, sign what will be one of the most lucrative wide receiver deals in NFL history, according to league sources. In return, the Broncos will get two high draft picks for a player who caused them headaches in addition to making plays.

Just over one week before the draft, Miami will match and arguably top the deal the New York Jets made earlier this week, when they traded a fifth-round draft pick for talented but troubled Steelers recevier Santonio Holmes.

Marshall is one of the game's best young wide receivers, a mercurial talent at the position Miami needed help at most. He is in the prime of his career. But like Holmes, he also brings a reputation of being difficult to handle and a legal record that has him one strike from a year-long suspension.

Once Marshall signed his $2.5 million tender with the Broncos on Tuesday, it freed Denver to begin shopping him. Miami was hot after Marshall, as was Seattle. Tampa Bay showed some interest and even the Jets considered making a play for Marshall before their deal for Holmes, according to sources.
WOW. Two second round draft picks. Holmes and Boldin really lowered the market price so it seems.

I bet Jerry Jones feel super ridiculous for paying that kings ransom for Roy Williams.

However, someone made a similar point regarding Holmes, If he couldn't behave in Denver, is really going to behave in MIAMI!?

WOW

I was really hoping to get him out of the AFC..my buddy who is a Dolphins fan text me early this morning estatic abou the move..

They had to do something to keep up with the Jets..it's also gonna be fun to see Marshall vs Revis twice a year

It will also be double the fun to see Marshall and them come to Baltimore this year...a game I will be at... Period.

Someone in the other thread mentioned they have no one to get him the ball..but I think Henne has looked very well at points last year and has shown signs of being able to be a good pocket passer...not to mention that rocket arm he has..

He will be put to the test, there's no doubt about that... if he wants to get paid like an elite WR then he's going to have to act like one on and off the field because anymore incidents and he'll be facing major discipline.

WOW!

Every team is upgrading their offense to catch up with this passing league that it has become. I would have never guessed Miami for Marshall, well now we get to face Marshall next year as well. This is going to be a very interesting season.

Good thing Porter isn't with the Dolphins anymore.

We could've had an eternal feud between popcorn muscles and disgruntled.

We'll see how Marshall enjoys watching the wildcat.

Brandon Marshall did go to Central Florida. So I bet he's loving the move. Get out of crappy, cold Denver to Hot, Hot Miami.

How long before he gets in trouble in Miami (i.e. punching a female)?

Nice move for Miami. They've been looking very good since their nightmare '07 season...they're now one piece of the puzzle closer to being contenders. A good draft this year should get them into the playoffs within the next year or two; maybe even this season if Henne plays decently.

Henne played alright last year, and it was mainly because of the defense that had them miss out on the playoffs. Now the Dolphins not only improved their passing attack and gave Henne Marshall, now they can focus on defense and get a pass rusher like Brandon Graham or Jason Pierre Paul at 12 to take Porter's spot on the team. I think the AFC just got a little more tougher and it may be another year where a 10 or 11 win team misses the playoffs.

In my opinion, the AFC East is gearing up to look like the best division. Even the Bills have a lot of talented youth.

But those other 3 teams... WOW. This season is going to be fun. Isn't it funny how the year we play that division, they all start making huge moves. I'm happy Brandon Marshall stayed on a team that the Ravens play this year instead of going to some place like Seattle. This way, we can see the receiver the Ravens could have got... play against the receiver the Ravens did get. Going to be very fun. Now, RELEASE THE SCHEDULE!

From our boy Adam Schefter at ESPN..... Marshall has now signed a 4 year $47 Million contract extension. Adam says that he will get $50 Million over the next 5 years, $24 Million Guaranteed and $29 Million he will make in the first 3 years.

So now the Dolphins have to pay one of the most troublesome receiver's his weight in gold while likely having to pay a baby-sitter a kings ransom aswell.

He's very likely to get into trouble in Miami and will end up receiving a huge suspension. This may be another case like Haynesworth, except the Dolphins gave up 2 2nd round draft picks to get him. Pay the man and he'll probably stop ballin'.

On the other hand, the Broncos just threw away their offense for 2 draft picks and judging by the way <they> draft both of those picks will contribute nothing. I know he's only had one draft but he made awful picks including trading one of this year's first rounders for Alphonso Smith...Heard of him? Nope? Didn't think so. The idiots running the show in Denver handed their team over to an ego-maniacal midget who subsequently destroyed it. I doubt McDaniels will get a coaching job for a long time once the Broncos sack him in the middle of next season.

This is a great move for the Dolphins. They already swept the Jets without a good passing game. Imagine what they can do with this beast of a player.

Moreno was actually pretty good... Smith is a wait and see player, but yeah, that was an awful trade.

The best thing about Marshall finally being traded is that FINALLY the people who were still scraping the bottom of the barrell for reasons and ways to trade for him now can finally shut up. THANK GOD. case closed.

Marshall wont be wearing #15...
Brandon Marshall was just made a $50 million man, but the agent for Dolphins wideout Davone Bess says all the money in the world couldn't take away Bess' number 15.

"His No. 15 jersey is not for sale. Davone entered the league with it and will finish with it," agent Kenny Zuckerman said in an email to our buddy Alex Marvez at FOXSports.com .

We're not trying to make this a controversy. Zuckerman was careful to preface that remark by saying how excited Bess was about Marshall's addition to the team. The decision on the jersey was all Bess.

"I told Davone we can probably name our price, especially with the contract Brandon just signed," Zuckerman said. "If I had anything to do with it, bidding would have opened at $500,000."
Who is this guy and agent to say what number Marshall can or can't wear? Didn't someone here wear 81 but changed his number with Boldin coming over, no complaining there if someone did wear 81, and yet this kid who is a virtual no name receiver unless your a Dolphins fan is telling a Pro Bowl WR who obviously will make him a better receiver he can't wear 15, what an idiot. Coaches and the Front Office makes up who wears what numbers right.... well Bill Parcells should call him to a meeting and say that he is no longer wearing 15, and go as far as showing him Marshall's Miami jersey with the 15 on it and if he wants to cry about a number than we'll find a place for you through trade or cut you. Actually thinking about it, I could see Parcells doing that and don't tell him and his agent I forced him to give it up in Madden.... what you going to do about that Bess???

No wonder the Ravens told him to take a hike. He's now the highest paid WR in the NFL, that's terrible. He's going to make 12M or so for the next 4 years, more than Fitz's and SSmiths 10M per. He's rewarded for acting like a baby? Calling out his coach, not giving 100% in practice. Asking to be traded.

Marshall has great talent sure, but is he committed to being a great teamate and busting hump to be the best player he can be? I don't see that, he's working off talent alone. I say he's great for this upcoming season at best then he'll default back to his old antics.

The Ravens got Boldin for 7M per, 3 years older, but I'm proud of our Ravens, great signing.

Ummm... no, not really. He's not the highest paid player in the NFL at all. It's not even close. And it's debatable whether or not he's the highest paid receiver depending on which money you actually count and how it's divided up.

And I don't think anyone can argue he's not one of the top 3 receivers in the league OR that Boldin is better than him. Even if their numbers were comparable, Marshall is much younger than Boldin. So, ummm... great job TRYING to convince the naive that he's horrible and it's a blessing from above that the Ravens didn't get him... but no cigar!

It was a good move for the Dolphins but they're making a huge commitment to Marshall.

Looks like the Dolphins might be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Well I'm damn glad I won't be worrying about Boldin's:
1. Toughness
2. Effort
3. Team First Attitude
4. Desire
5. Skills
6. Commitment

I could care less about Brandon Marshall. Didn't exactly light it up vs us last year either.

As far as individually talented but troubled WRs, how many Super Bowls has Randy Moss won again? Terrell Owens?

With our issues at CB, I'm a tad nervous about him this year. Not much, but a tad.
