Why We Haven't Sign Landry And McClain?

23 posts in this topic

I noticed Ravens haven't signed S Dawan Landry and/or FB Le'Ron McClain. Any idea why not? Is there some other plan in works. I thought it would be good idea to sign your full-time starters first.

Both players will likely be signed after the draft.

Why are they waiting exactly? I'm pretty sure both of them are coming back, regardless of the draft. Are they trying to gauge the market or are they listening to trade offers?

To be honest, I don't why they're waiting. They could be gauging the market or waiting till the draft where they may find better players(tough to imagine).

I don't see either being traded though.

Actually, both players are restricted free agents and have been tendered meaning if there is an interest in either player, the Ravens would recieve right to match other offers or draft pick compensation depending on their tenders respectively.

That said, it's just a matter of the players signing their tender if no other teams express interest. They usually don't sign their tenders until closer to training camp so it's no big deal that they haven't signed yet. Both players are likely to be wearing purple next season.

Lol, he knows. McClain isn't going anywhere. I highly doubt Landry is either. They will either play with those one year deals and get extensions next year, or be released. McClain should be top priority along with Gaither to get deals, assuming he isn't traded.

Good point. It could mean Ravens would like to see if they could get additonal draft pick from other team. We should definitely keep McClain, even if it requires to spend more money.
With Landry, I don't know what we could get for him, if we could get maybe 3rd or 4th rounder, it would be interesting, considering we have good young safeties.

Draft has passed, month go by and Ravens still have not signed Landry or McClain.
Landry is practicing with the 1st team, but still has not been signed. Any word on McClain?

Le'ron wants a long-term deal but isn't negotiating right now.

Sticking with Le'ron, Rotoworld needs to check their website.

Just another McClain? Next time they might show Marcus Smith being our backup QB.....LOL
What's up with locking down the "TOPIC" - was it Garcia's underwear story that caused it? Just curious

And here we are, almost 2 months later, and they have not been signed.
They both have been participating in the minicamp, so obviously they like to stay with Ravens, so what's the wait?
Are the numbers ($$$) too far apart between both sides??
Any ideas who wants what? Need Negotiator? :mord-hamecon:

I'm pretty sure we'll resign McClain he's a beast. Landry is a maybe because we have Zibby backing him up and he did a great job this season.

McClain is definitely not a must. He's a great player, but he's just a fullback.

Okay......you're wrong, but okay!!

For the dollars, he's the best FB (partial HB) in the league.

You couldn't be more wrong!

Here comes the harsh "I'm an internet hero" routine......for what its worth, I'm just messing with my opinion.

McClain is just a fullback? McClain is JUST A FULLBACK!?

Well, yes, he is just a fullback.

But the best in the league. Look what he did for Rice. He's made the Probowl in two consecutive seasons, and he's only getting better. Plus he's a darn good recieving threat as well. You pay for players like that, especially a FB. By your logic, since he's "just a fullback", he'll only get fullback money, which isn't Ray Lewis money. So it's worth the investment.

People just don't understand the nuance and grace it takes to be a great fullback, let alone a fullback that can also run the ball. Some people just see stat lines and don't get what some of the less 'headline' positions on the field really do.

Just a fullback? That sounds like the analysis from someone who thinks the only important positions on the team are QB, RB and WR.

Isn't today the deadline to sign restricted FA's? I can't remember where I saw that but I'm pretty sure teams have until today to sign them or they are available to the rest of the league. The final eight rule for the last eight teams in the playoffs will also lift soon so that those teams including the Ravens will be able to sign FA's regardless of contract amount and all of the in's and out's of the rule.

Yes today is the deadline. I think Landry would be ok to where he played on a 1 year tender, but McClain is MUST to sign long term. We have had seen many Fullbacks come and go in Baltimore, but McClain is a keeper. I just wonder if we can't get McClain under a multi-year contract are we allowed to Franchise him to save us from losing him? I know it wouldn't make sense to Tag a FB but McClain is that valuable to our team.

Like I said Landry, if he plays under a one year deal, fine but McClain I want him under contract long term. Git-R-Done Ozzie and sign McClain long term!

Yes, today was the deadline. Anybody heard about any signings? Which means Ravens Front Office still has the rights, but has to come up with new offer. After that, players could become available to the rest of the league.
Doc Negotiator has the offer - 2yr deal for Landry and 2yr/maybe 3yr deal for McClain, everything above would be a stretch.
Frankly, they should of been signed while back, now I would be pleasantly surprised if we sign both of them.
GIT-R-DONE Today? Tommorow?
