I caught a report on the ESPN crawl at the bottom of the screen this morning that the coach of Inter, Marinho, is going to step down to take over the reigns at Real Madrid.

I wonder if there will be confirmation of this.

Indeed. At the post-match conference, he hinted at his departure from Milan to go to Madrid.
I can't say I'm surprised really.. As much as Jose loved the club, he hated the media down in Italy.
Plus, every player's/manager's ambition when it comes to soccer, is to work for Real Madrid one day.
Finally, Mourinho is probably the only manager out there that can rejuvenate Real.
He has the guts to get the club far.

We will see soon..

Agreed.

If Mourinho can't get the best out of the Galacticos, no one will.

The 2010-11 Champions League campaign is now underway, at least I think it is.

Does anyone have an idea of who would be the favorites to win the League at this stage of the competition? I welcome your comments.

Sadly, it usually comes down to the teams that spend the most.

its the usual suspects really barcalona, real madrid, inter milan, man utd, chelsea and arsenal are the ones most people will be expecting to do well.

that will all change next year when manchester city inevitably enter the competition and will probably spend another £150 million or so!

Neither can I. City is the laughing stock of England and pretty much everyone hates the club. It's sad that FA lets just about anyone get involved in the Premier League that way.

Unfortunately, Manchester City has actually put together a decent squad that can compete for a place in the elite four of the EPL.

yeah they've bought their way into the title race really. the did announce record losses for the financial year earlier this month but i doubt that will affect them in the same way it is affecting liverpool.

I had no idea that Man City was so reviled, especially from those who know the F.A. Premier League very well.

I suppose that this doesn't bode well for Tottenham Hotspur. If Man City isn't that good, then what does that say for the 'Spurs?

i think the only problem people have with man city is that a few years ago they were a mid-table side who every now and then would do well in a cup competition.

then out of nowhere they get financial backing and can compete for everything. and they do seem to buy players simply to stop opponents having them, which is something the spurs boss accused them off a few months ago.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I'd respect them so much if they built there squad up through a combination of player development and shrewd moves. But they've done with basically mercenary tactics. I can't respect that.

Maybe I'm bitter because my team refuses to make moves but still, I hate City.

Yeah, it is. Mine too. A lot of question marks surround the current Arsenal squad and it looks as if (even though it's still early in the season) we are en route to another trophy-less season..

yeah i'm an arsenal fan too, going to the next champions league game actually.

to be honest we started pretty well, and then the loss to west brom really derailed the season a bit. i wouldn't say we'll be trophey-less this season, considering all the big teams that got knocked out of the carling cup arsenal are in a very strong position.

its not a big competition but it gets that winning mentality going.

It's quite odd that most of those select few who watch soccer from this forum are Arsenal fans.. :D
I've been to the Emirates myself once, two years ago when we played Portsmouth at home with that fluke goal from Gallas. I was at the VIP that day out of pure luck and I didn't pay a single penny. Quite a memorable experience I must say.

I agree but don't forget that we have yet to face top opposition in the Champions League. The only thing that matters now is the game at Manchester. We had better come away with a win there or else....

very true. well fabregas played yesterday so he'll be back for the city game. if i would take a draw on sunday, although with them being 3 points ahead a win would be very useful, especially as its away from home.

Getting through the Champions League group stages has rarely been a problem for Arsenal. It's the knock-out stages that they usually get overmatched.

Since this has become the "Arsenal Thread", it was great to see them beat City 3-0 on Sunday. It would have been even sweeter had Fabregas not got his penalty saved.

My wish has been granted; domination of the overrated Mankers (#2) inside their home.
An overall exceptional game from all sides of the pitch if I may say.

good win, but i'm still backing chelsea to win the league. this win might mean arsenal are the team that pushes them closest though

and it shows we can win big games which should serve us well in the champions league and other competitions

Wow there are a lot of Arsenal fans here. I feel really out of place as a Spurs fan.
I know how you feel. I'm a Chelsea fan though.

Winning the Premiership and Champions League is a real possibility if we continue to play the way we have.

I didn't really consider the number of supporters the Gunners had here.

I will admit, when it comes to the Premier League, I am one for the Merseyside Derby, as well as noting the 'Spurs. I just hadn't expected this sort of response here in this thread.
