Aren't we SUPPOSED to be disappointed when out team loses? You know what's worse than being disappointed when your team loses? Expecting your team to lose. It's just pathetic, being to scared of being "disappointed" to have any confidence in your team. Someone with that mindset loses before they even play the game. Competitors don't think that way. ALWAYS expect to win until you're proved wrong. After the Ravens lose do you feel fine? I mean its not like you expected them to win right? Being optimistic, having faith in your team, means that you take the highs with the lows.

On the whole of the season, I think the Ravens will probably lose a couple games. But come kickoff time, I will NEVER go into the game expecting to lose. And I won't ever be satisfied with a loss. The people who spew "doom and gloom" aren't real fans either, being optimistic means that there's always the next game to look forward to and always knowing your team can win that game. I'm disappointed after a loss, of course. But I won't ever give up on the Ravens and I'll always expect them to come through when it counts.
Exactly the way I feel thanks for sayin that.......I will before the season starts predict a few losses but during the weeks before the games when I make my weekly predictions i never pick the ravens to lose and have complete faith in those predictions

10-5-1 you heard it here first. I think we are gonna get a tie with either the steelers or the jets.

That's a bold prediction. :o Are you expecting Ben to be suspended or something?

You know that saying "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me?" I think that NE will be ready to handle us, but that's just me.

For all passing yards that Houston put up, they actually scored fewer points than the Ravens did. Between the expected improvement for Baltimore and Matt Schaub's fragility, this game might be alot easier than one might think.
The Ravens were clearly just better than Pittsburgh last season. Ofcourse we'll have to see what both teams do in the draft, but if the season was NOW i'd say the Ravens sweep them. Ben hasn't been suspended, and there's no reason to belive that he will be so I don't buy into all of that.

As far as the Patriots go, I know it's Tom Brady, and Bellicheck,Moss, Welker ect.. but the Ravens actually should have beaten them in the Regular Season as well. Let's not forget that 14 of their points came on drives extended by shoddy "roughing the passer" calls when the Pats would have had to punt otherwise. I thik their stigma preceeds what they actually are at this point...gasp..beatable..

again..just my opinion as always.

Don't under estimate the Patriots. They have 3 2nd round picks, and they draft just as well as the Ravens. Imagine what they could do with 4 picks in the first 2 round. Also Brady was just coming back from injury last season. Hes one of the best QB's ever. You know he'll be back to pro-bowl shape next year, even if Welker misses a good portion of the season.

Also, the Steelers weren't hungry last year. Because of continuity, I'd say they have the better passing game, and if Polamalu is healthy, and they get Wilson or some other good corner, they'd be deadly on defense. Of course Ben's case hurts, but barring any jail time, or suspension past a game or 2, the Steelers will be back next season.

Now I hope we beat the Pats and sweep the Steelers, but just trying to be realistic.

Pittsburgh lost to Chicago, Kansas City, Oakland, and Cleveland and we still managed to lose to them. I really don't expect the Steelers to be that bad next year, but that's just me. I'd be far less surprised to see us sweep Cincy (proven perennial losers) than Pitt.

The Ravens coulda, shoulda, woulda beaten the Patriots in 2007 too, but they didn't. I'd like to see Baltimore get their first regular season win against them, but I'm not holding my breath.

What are you talking about expecting your team to lose? This is a prediction thread, right? My Prediction was that the Ravens finish with a winning record. So what's your point? Some people like to be uber-optimistic (like you) others like to play it conservative.

Predicting a record is a complete 180 degrees from "expecting your team to lose". A true fan wants his team to play hard and leave it all out on the field, Win , Lose or Draw. I expect the Ravens to play hard every game and when they don't that's when I get upset. The better team is not always the team that comes away with a win you know, right?

So on paper it's easy to say this team is a 13-3 team. But what about our history of finishing off games, bad luck and penalty calls? And history usually proves, that these games do not go our way. Does that not merit a few losses to go against us?

So according to you, anybody that says we'll end up with a 15-1, 13-3 or 10-6 season is pathetic? C'mon Man!

I say to heck with this kind of thinking. Im always a really optimistic guy but I dont think im being unrealistic either. There is a chance we could go 9-7 but if this team plays to its full potential theres no reason that we cant go at least 11-5. I like to always shoot for the best. Ive always got my eyes fixed on winning the Super Bowl and nothing less.
+1k

When a team has this much talent on both offense and defense, it is just as, if not more so, unreasonable to expect a 9-7 record as it is 13-3.
On paper, this is probably the best team we've ever had (I'm expecting a top 5 offense AND defense this year). If you seriously dont think we'll improve on last year's record, you need to get your head checked (either that or your Steelers jersey is a couple sizes too small and cutting off circulation to your brain.)

12-4 here we come!

Yea I was wondering where you went. I left for a little while myself and noticed you were gone when I came back. An accident, huh? Hope all is getting better.

Thanks man. yeah, we were coming back from Conneticut on new years day and a car in the opposite lane hit a patch of black ice....sideswiped me; my friend that I've known since I was 9 years old was killed, my fiancee broke a rib and an arm, I got a fracture in my skull and broke my leg in two places. My friends girlfriend was 'lucky'...no serious injuries. But sadly, her boyfriend had proposed to her the night before, and she accepted....to make it all worse, my friend who passed away was begging me to drive; I just bought a new Mercedes and he has been asking me to let him take it out since the day I got it. If I would've let him drive that night, our lives may be much different now.
Had to take a break from life after that, but I'm strong enough to just be grateful that I had him in my life for as long as I did.

Anyway, dont want to hijack the thread, so...I stand by the 12-4 prediction, sorry!

That's a tough story to digest. My prayers go out to you and your friends. It's hard to understand why things like that happen, but they just do. Do not hold any guilt or remorse because life is tricky. Lost a few friends to unexplainable things. But life trudges on, painfully at times.

Once again, welcome back and I can always count on you being optimistic on the Ravens season. 12-4 it is.

Home: Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, [s]New Orleans Saints[/s], Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Away: [s]Cincinnati Bengals[/s], Cleveland Browns, [s]Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots[/s], New York Jets, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers

I crossed out the games that I think we'll lose and vs Pitt, @ Atlanta, and @ Ny are my wildcards.

I think we will beat Steelers twice, I worry more about Houston than Atlanta, and the Jets game could be a toss-up. 12-4 should be enough to win the division and have a playoff game at home.

I think we'll find a way to lose to Pitt at least once. Like I said, Houston isn't really that formidable to me. They basically just put up alot of passing yards. They didn't score alot, they don't have a great rushing game, they don't have a great defense and Matt Schaub isn't exactly the most durable player around, but who knows...

Atlanta and NY are toss ups to me. Surely Rex Ryan knows that blitzes overwhelm Flacco, and the Falcons are pretty good at home.

Home: Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, [s]New Orleans Saints[/s], Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Away: [s]Cincinnati Bengals,[/s] Cleveland Browns, [s]Pittsburgh Steelers[/s], New England Patriots, [s]New York Jets,[/s] Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers

12-4 2010 AFC North Division Champions!

Division: Split with Bengals and Steelers, sweep the Browns

AFC East: Buffalo is a W, Miami is a W, we'll lose to the Jets and beat the Patriots once again, 3-1

NFC South: 3-1 with the only loss coming against the Saints

We should beat the Broncos once again, an well it will be tough to stop Andre Johnson but we'll beat the Texans. Right now I'm thinking 12-4 but it will all depend on how the draft works out and if any team we play gets better through the draft. 11-5 if we lose to the Patriots.

Its tough to tell how tough all of the teams are going to be, esp. with Cleveland possibly not being a joke and the problems in Pitt. But it looks like its gonna be a tough season. I'm sure Flacco and company will be able to pull off that 11th win by week 17 though.
