I'm all in on Rex Ryan -- he is a great Defensive coach, apparently a great motivator, and has the respect and motivation of his players. Before we call the Billick era a total loss, which by no means it is -- there were a lot of successes -- we ought to try to keep some continuity going forward.

Great defensive coach yes, but IMO we need a great offensive coach

No offense, but I don't want Mike Martz. "Oh great, we need to draft another reciever."

JASON GARRETT, JASON GARRETT! THE MAN MADE TONY ROMO AN INCREDIBLE QB AND YOU CAN'T ARGUE WITH RESULTS!

You can thank Mike Martz for SJAX and Marshall Faulk, so with McGahee's talent, he could become great. Imagine Clayton and Mason being the next Bruce and Holt. And we got a killer TE. Martz got an old vet like Warner to become MVP, McNair could be next. And plz, McGahee doesn't suck like Tatum Bell or Jones so McGahee would be used. We have the talent for this to work. Getting Martz as our OC would be so awesome. And we should get Marty as head coach.

mike singletary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree, he would command the respect of players (because he was once a warrior himself) also seems to be a great leader of Men, and is a Man with intergity, values, and character as well.....I think Singletary would be awesome.....

Remember though, he finished 2nd to Bobby Petrino down in Atl last season, so Blank could have him on his radar for the Falcons job, given the decision between the 2 teams, I would think Singletary would chose the Ravens

Also another guy who I like is Ron Riveria, once DC of Chicago now LB coach with the Chargers, I think he'll get a gig sooner then later somewhere

The Ravens are an undisciplined, immature and collectively stupid football team that Billick let run the asylum. And that's why they'd LOVE to see Rex Ryan as the next coach. Bring in Cowher and watch how quickly all this nonsense ends and they start playing like professionals again. I don't expect them to go to the Super Bowl every year but they should be expected to play football intelligently and not embarrass themselves. Hopefully, we've seen the last of any player throwing penalty flags into the stands.

I think you need to let go of that incident. There was a lot that led up to it and, after all, it's Bart's ONLY unsportsmanlike conduct penalty EVER.

He made one stupid mistake (which he admitted) and a lot of people want to harp on it forever.

There are a lot of better examples of lack of discipline you could point to.

Really, that's amazing! especially with a nickname like 'the mad backer'.

Just to name a strong candidate and a slightly more liberal prospect:

Bill Cowher (great knowledge of the game and veteran)

Skip Holtz (son of the football mastermind Lou Holtz and has been a success on the college level already)

What do you guys think? Any other suggestions on a potential coach?

I think they are looking at rex ryan, someone on here did mention mike singletary, i wouldnt have mined the big tuna but hes in miami now , and im sure martys name is being thrown around.

and i also think that Marty is a option that have crossed the minds of Ozzie and Steve....as he knows what he is doing and all and and get the job done and done well at that.....there are alot of options to run with here and ozzie and the Ravens Front office (im sure) will do the best possible job in picking hte right guy for each job.

I would like to see Singletary as our HC just as long as we got a great OC to go with him. I could also see him wanting to coach here since he was a linebacker coach here a few seasons ago.

I totally agree with you. Although having Rex on the coaching staff would be great because he already knows the team, I feel it would be in order to aquire a coach that can straighten out this team and get them all on the same page. Other than Cowher, not many names are comming to mind that we could get....any suggestions

One name I heard today that really intrigued me is Jim Caldwell, Tony Dungy's Asst. Head Coach and QB Coach. I rather like the idea of getting someone from the "Dungy Tree".

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Bill Cowher is the right man for this job. If I owned the team, he would be my first and last pick until he turned the offer down. Then, I would go from there. He has said that he wanted to be away from the game for two years but I think this opportunity would be enticing for him, not to mention the lucrative contract that will be offered. One thing is certain: hiring Rex Ryan will not change anything in the area of players trying to run this team. I think he's too close to a situation that went sour and ultimately, the owner will recognize that. Of all the other names being circulated, Marty Schottenheimer is the only one with a winning track record. None of the other ones know anything about coaching an NFL team and that does not bode well in Ravenland.

ok here we go...............I searched far and wide for something like this one........Cowher the Super Bowl XL coach in sunny Detroit? I mean of all the sites to be held at!! one in 14 yrs? was it 4 straight losses in playoffs that they hosted? Oh and the strict disciplinarian who was able to control his players from being tossed from games before they even started? The same one who his franchise QB called out after his departure, stated the present coach and he had a better relationship then the afforementioned "Jaw", because of how he related to him like a Man (cheap shot?) The one who I believed relied more heavily or Whisenhunt and Lebeau and their coaching talents instead of his own? The one who everybody needed a spitscreen or windshield wipers after conversating with him? Great move acquiring Duce Staley huh? The way I see it, after the Bettis fumble, if not for Nick Harper getting stabbed in the leg the night before by his wife, allowing Rothelburger to catch him, he wouldn't even be in the equation!! His best bet is to stay right beside Shannon(DonkeyPart) Sharpe and exchange Spit..........The Ravens may be alot of the times undisciplined and immature, but collectively stupid? seems a little harsh? Even players who left indicated they respected Billick because he treated them like "MEN", no doubt his game management was and will always be questioned, but as far as he defending his players and taking responsibility, that's what I will always respect about him

how come when i said bill cowher a month ago, no one agreed with me then?

I still don't agree. I don't see where he's any better than Billick. I don't like what I've heard from the Steeler players since he left. Other than 1 Superbowl win, what has he d one for the Steelers?

true, but players tend to feel more comfortable with their words once the coach is gone. cowher is a defensive minded coach and that is what the city is about right? we need discipline on both sides of the ball and i just feel as if he would be the logical choice. honestly, i don't think we will get him anyway. he has been pretty firm on his stance that he won't coach again until his daughter graduates school

Maybe it is time to replace Brian Billick as the head coach. The ex defensive coordinater Rex Ryan may not be the answer, the Ravens have a good defense, an offense minded coach might be a better choice. I've heard the name Jason Garrett mentioned, a former back-up, with not a lot of playing experience, only two years as a quartebacks coach and one year as an offensive coordinator. He waltzed into Dallas taking over the OFC's job from the Asst Head Coach Tony Sparano who led Dallas to the #2 or 3 offensive team in the league last year, who's hands were tied due to Parcells control freak personality. In other words Garrett had nothing to do in building this team, he took over a Bill Parcells built team that was ready to peak. Unfortunately Parcells brooding over his loss at Seattle last year deserted his Asst. Coaches leaving the door open for a has been like Phillips and an inexperienced Garrett. Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman who both were good QB's but I wouldn't put them in the great catagory, both kissed up to or slept with Jones enough for him to hire Garrett. My point is they brought in a coupla "good ol'e boys" neither one of them the best by far in the league as coaches, Garrett is still in diapers. He's not going to be able to handle the likes of some of the Ravens defensive players. But the way he's played up by the media and the usual announcers of the Dallas games namely Aikman I guess he's the second coming of Jesus, not too mention he went to an Ivy League School that alone make him the next Messiah. Whoever the organization decides to name as Head Coach "Good Luck" Ravens Fans. Jason (the Savior) Garrett may be your next head coach, Super Bowl here we come! In 2013!Maybe Mr. Bisciotti should look for His head, He might be sittin on it (get it).

I think if we wanna make a superbowl run right now, we need to get some guys with proven experience. What annoys me is sometimes coordinators are overrated thanks to them having great players. Tony Romo was playing great a year ago as well and the dallas offense has been similar. I think instead of taking a risk by hiring some offensive coordinator as head coach (like we did with billick), we need to go and get a proven vet with experience. And Marty is the best guy out there like that. Remember the 14-2 chargers, great D and great O. Then for offensive coordinator we bring reunite Cameron with him. If Cameron is unavailable we grab Mike Martz, the offensive wizard who won a superbowl, went to another, and led the greatest show on turf. Think Marshall Faulk, SJAX, Warner, Bulger, Bruce, Holt. And get Rex Ryan back as our DC. Man i can't even fathom what our team could do if we did this.

We need an old school head coach to get this team to operate as a team, rather than a collection of talented individuals. Marty would fill the bill, but I would like to suggest Dennis Green as the next head coach of the Baltimore Ravens.

One name I haven't heard mentioned is Ralph Friedgen, he has NFL expreience and is a Baltimore/Maryland favorite. I don't follow college football so I don't know how well he's been doing these days, I do know they played a bowl game this year but lost.

Rex Ryan would be a much better choice that Ralph Friedgen, although methinks that Bisciotti is looking at bringing in an outsider. Rex Ryan will get his HC chance elsewhere, and we will sorely miss him.
