Just to name a strong candidate and a slightly more liberal prospect:

Bill Cowher (great knowledge of the game and veteran)

Skip Holtz (son of the football mastermind Lou Holtz and has been a success on the college level already)

What do you guys think? Any other suggestions on a potential coach?

I don't think they'll hire Rex, listening to the press conference made it sound like he would be interviewed but so will other candidates that are a lot more qualified.

As for Cowher, one super bowl win in 14 years, not to mention to afc championship loses at home...jeez.

I miss Brian.

Let's hire Rex as HC and get Rob as DC with Martz as OC...we'd be unstoppable.

Sorry put I'd like to keep the ball in McGahee's hands

McGahee can catch, can't he?

haha, you got me their. But I see us as more of a run first offense. I don't think we're built to rely on the pass. McGahee is the best offensive weapon we have

Let's see - the big tuna is not available, Mike Dithka could come out of retirement, Dieon Sanders could bring some sparkle to the uniforms, agree with cowher - 1 SB in 14 yrs - plus a guy named cow - who only yells at his players???....who else?? - Rex Ryan, with Buddy Ryan?? Naw....Shannon Sharpe?? no.....rumor is levy will soon be available?? marvin lewis???

Plus a pass-heavy gameplan usually ends up giving the defense less rest.

IDK, didn't work this year.

Yeah, I meant less runs=less time off the clock=less time for guys like Kelly Gregg to get energy to put on Pro Bowl-worthy performances...oh, wait.

I was wondering how long it would be before this thread popped up. Here's an interesting read from ESPN.com:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor...&id=3152031

Its their top 10 coordinators in line for head coaching jobs. Guess who is #1? :D

With this veteran team that has run wild for the last 8 years, it has to be someone that would have instant respect coming in. Its our only chance to get back to the playoffs. Its gotta be Ryan or Singletary. Ryan already knows the system, so why look outside.

Is this a joke? It would be if they were coaches...

Marty is another option, not saying I would want to go with him. I want Cowher! That is who I will stick with until the decision is made.

Like mixing vinegar and oil with the ravens and current veterans.

I've been saying marty's style of play would suit us, and his last season was 14-2. not bad.

But look at the talent he had. I am not sure he will have the smarts to rebuild a whole organization.

I too felt that Rex will an "also ran" after watching the news conference. Either they are playing it really cool or they want someone with head coaching experience, I don't know, but they sure didn't show much interest in Rex.

They said he is a candidate. They have to have more options. Slow your roll.

I want a coach with Head Coaching experience.

Smart man..smart man. But Now that I've thought about it, I'm not sure that letting Billick go was the right decision. He was willing to let go of his play calling duties and let a new offensive coordinator take over.

-Marty Schottenheimer, NO! His playoff record is god awful! He also gets fired a lot. I don't want a coach that we are going to fire in three seasons. Plus he is going to want way too much control of the team. He always butts heads with the GM of whatever team he coaches for. Ozzie runs the show and thats how we need to keep it.

-Bill Cowher, Not gonna happen! Seriously people, do you really think he is going to come back to the AFC North? And to the Ravens of all teams? Forget about it. Money talks but not for this guy. It aint gonna happen.

-Any college coach, Not a chance in hell! Petrino proves that hiring college coaches to head coach in the NFL just doesn't work.

IMO, Rex Ryan is the best option for replacing Billick as head coach. He already knows the players. From what we know, he already has their respect. He also knows the city of Baltimore and what we expect from our football team.

Of course unless he doesn't want the job.
