Samari Rolle Not Expected To Play Again

Found this little story today. I know Samari said this a while back but I didn't hear Harb's take on it.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Baltimore Ravens don't expect veteran cornerback Samari Rolle to play football again.

Rolle has undergone a couple of neck surgeries and has said he is extremely unlikely to continue to play, but hasn't officially retired.

"There’s been no indication that I’ve heard from anybody that Samari is going to be physically ready to play," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "If that changes, great. We would have to be very convinced that he would have no risk.”

Earlier this year, Rolle indicated that he was essentially hanging up his cleats, barring some kind of medical breakthrough.

"I've had two neck surgeries," Rolle said. "And at my age, unless they show me something scientifically that says I can't hurt myself again, then I'm done."

I love what he did for us, but how is this news? I don't think anyone was expecting him to come back.

I've seen people post on this forum thinking he would be back.

Rolle will always stick in my mind for that one season he missed games to an "undisclosed (non-physical) injury." It was fun trying to figure out what the undisclosed injury was.

My guess was a lot worse than what it was.

It was a pleasure to watch Samari play. I didn't realize how good he was until 2008.

I didn't realize how good he really was until 2009 when we missed him so much.

Yep. The team certainly could have used him at times during the season.

yay! no big loss there. Maybe if he was in his prime like 99' or the early 00's, but now who cares.
[/quote]

It may not be a huge deal because he hasn't suited up in over a year but considering how much he did for this team, I'd say a lot of people care.

Believe it or not, I felt so secure on defense when S. Rolle and C. McAlister were OUR CORNERS. Maybe even more than McAlister and Starks.
Samari was the man.

Classy post. The guy is a former Pro Bowler, who could STILL be playing and still be a darn good CB for the Ravens. He had is career shortened because of injuries. You would be the only one who doesn't care btw. Ahole

Sorry to hear he has to go for this reason. He will be missed because I always enjoyed when he was on the field.
