Speaks to how much of a monster Ray Lewis is. The man is amazing. He's one of the few players who I'd say it's a privilege to watch.

I know many of us hate the Irsay franchise BUT I sat in the stadium last year wondering how many more matchups between the best offensive and best defensive players maybe of all times and just marveled at being there.

Who else really? Ray is the most exciting guy to watch on AND off the field.
He can pass up that motivation to everyone around him and he is simply unique.
What a draft year that was for the Ravens with Ogden, Ray and Jermaine Lewis.

Damn, I miss Ray already and he's still playing... I just can't imagine what it's like to be an Ellerbe or a Gooden and get sit down and just learn from the man. I mean, Bart Scott and Adalius Thomas should be cutting Ray a percentage of their salaries...

We're privileged to have this franchise.

Boulware and Sharper were both in the 1997 Draft.

In addition to Ogden, Ray, and Jermaine Lewis 1996 gave us the immortal DeRon Jenkins!

I looked into it and there are only a handful for players active from that ENTIRE draft.

1st Round- Ray

2nd Round- Lawyer Milloy, Muhshin Muhammed, Bobby Engram. Brian Dawkins

3rd Round- TO

4th- Phillip Daniels

Others
Walt Harris- was hurt last season but still wants to play in '10

Jon Runyan played with the Chargers last season but is running for Congress now.

Willie Anderson- apparently still has a desire to play?

Simeon Rice- played for UFL last season.

Either his agent or he himself(can't remember now) released a report via Twitter. He supposedly contacted the Ravens too.

The only thing that comes into my mind when I hear 1996 is Ray Lewis and J.O being drafted.

How did we do that again?

Very few teams in draft history have hit on two superstars in the first round of the same draft; for those two superstars to be stalwarts on opposite sides of the field is even more impressive.

He was the reason I became a Ravens fan in the first place.

Same here.

I remember watching a game in 2003 where he shot through a hole and just flattened the RB in a split-second. Because I hadn't watched much football up to that point, it was the most impressive play I'd ever seen. Fast-forward to 2004, I'm watching the Ravens play the Steelers in Week 2 and the defense is completely demolishing Pittsburgh. From that point on, I was hooked. The Madden NFL 2005 commercial only further solidified that, as his charisma and intensity instantly grabbed me. I wanted to be as charismatic as him, and it was only natural I gravitated towards Ray Lewis much in the same way I gravitated towards The Rock.

Because of Ray Lewis and The Rock, I developed my gift of gab and started doing radio as a result.

I've been hasseling my dad for the past decade to take me to Baltimore to watch the immortal Ray Lewis play. I'm finally getting to go this year and, cheekily, asked BR.com support if there was anywhere in particular that was good for being able to meet him, other than the locker room.

He and J.O are two of the best to ever play their respective positions and I still believe it was that draft that set the tone of our Franchise.
