Ravens Players Say Billick Has Lost Them

28 posts in this topic

O.K. guys....here we go again! i was just watching fox pre-game show and they brought up billick's job security in baltimore. according to j. glazer, biscotti was recently seen and heard walking around the ravens confines asking players and trainers alike if billick has lost them. it was reported that the majority said "yes", billick has lost them and they don't feel as if he can get them back!

a lot of things that have been said before have been hear-say and gossip with no solid evidence to support it. once the players start expressing negativity in the coaches direction, that's when it gets sticky for real! though i was one of the ones that supported his return, if he truly has lost this team, then there really is no discussion to be had! it's time to move on.

i think that with the way this season has turned out for the team and us Fans of this team, there are alot of emotion riding/going around and in which causes players and teams to say things that they shouldnt or dont mean....

it only leads to a "team" anot being a "team" and so i think that once everything has calmed down enough for the team and Players, they will realize a few things that they shouldnt of said or whatever....

all in all....its "the heat of the moment"

I didn't actually see the segment since I was still sleeping (lol) so I can't comment on the accuracy of Jay Glazer's report.

However, to be honest, even if I had seen it, I would've taken it with a grain of salt, only because I'm jaded by media coverage of losing teams since the media likes to stir the pot in situations where job security seemingly is on the line. It just makes for a better headline.

The only time I would immediately jump upon hearing that is if a huge contingency of players explicitly said, "We don't want Coach Billick back," in those exact words or something similar. No metaphors or vague quotes where you need to read between the lines, because anything can be taken out of context these days with the written word.

exactly.......i think its more so based on the outcome of this season, the injuries we've had to deal with, no overall groove established and everthing was just overall Iffy and we never really knew what things were going to turn out as or whatever..resulting in Players responding in the heat of the moment and what not.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I can't think of an easier job in the media than taking shots at a losing team, and that's exactly what this sounds like.

Billick is good as a head coach, i think it would seriously suck if we lost him. He seriously sucks as an OC, which definately needs to be changed and will be changed anyway. I heard Mike Martz is going on the market :) . But Rex Ryan is being interviewed by the Falcons, Neuhiesel is gone to the bruins, and billick fired? We might end up with a completely different coaching staff next yr. We went 13-3 last year because we were healthy, this yr is not all billicks fault. The only fault by him i see is him deciding to be OC, which can be fixed in the offseason....but he really shouldn't be fired.

Saw Troy's post game interview and he seemed to be singing Billick's praises. I call BS on the report that Brian has lost the team. I didn't see anyone mail it in today.

I am not sure if Billick shows emotion to this team. That may be why they "lost" him. I am not sure whether to move on, or just turn the calling over to an OC and get more involved in the game and your players.

I thought the players would love him. I never see Billick criticize anyone on the team, and even when we lost to the Dolphins, he said we showed good character.

Yeah, he's not one to toss people under the bus, which is one reason the Ravens play hard.

exactly he doesnt lay the blame on any one individual what so ever, if we lose, its the TEAMS loss and they must learn from it and move on, not lay it all on one player and what not.

I heard it, and smashmouth you have it right on. Exactly what was said.

Its a shame, because I don't see a talented team getting very far without a united front.

Yeah, he's not one to toss people under the bus, which is one reason the Ravens play hard.

That's the only reason he's still our head coach. He knows that if he throws some of his players under the bus he's gonna lose his job. Heck, some of the players call him out and he actually agrees with them. Brian is done. Promote Rex Ryan and sign Mike Martz to handle the offense. We won't get anywhere with Billick on this team.

Another line of thought on this subject is that our owner is walking around trying to decide which of the players are the troublemakers. WNST is blogging that Bisciotti wants to fire a bunch of underachieving PLAYERS.

I don't have a problem with getting rid of under achieving players, its a really GREAT idea.

I totally agree!

And that is yet another reason we are now looking for a new head coach.

The ability to release/waive/let-go-of those who do not achieve is a fundamental part of being a coach.

You have to be a puppet master of sorts, know how and when to pull the strings...

Biscotti said the players had no say in wether Billick got fired or not. Ozzie had his "eyes and ears" aroudn the compound trying to come up with a solution to this years poor record and what they arrived at was firing Billick.

do you really think he would publicly say that the players were the ones who influenced his decision? i know that this season was hard on any ravens fan, but there's more to it than what the owner says publicly. i just hope he stays true to his word and doesn't hire the "sexy" pick. interview as many candidates as possible and make this right!

im sure he wasnt lying about certain things but i do believe that He had his reasons (Along with Ozzie and the Ravens Front Office) for with holding certain things that they might not have wanted the public to know about, JUST yet, as EVERYTHING about the ravens cant ALL available to the general public.

He wasn't very sincere in his conference. I feel like he was not sure why he fired Billick or was just lying.

I dont think he was lying but I agree that the decision seemed a little out of the blue and he didnt really know why he fired him. I have a bunch of reasons of why it was the right thing to do but I was a little alamared when he didnt seem to have a real explanation, although 9-7, 6-10, 13-3, and 5-11 speaks for itself. The last thing we need is a an owner like the one the Raiders have right now. Making drastic changes just because the little people in his head tell him to.

he said that his decision cam because he had been talking with other Raven Officals for a few weeks and after much talk with Ozzie and the staff (as Ozzie said in the press conference)....they though they made the best possible choice for this franchise.

I think you misunderstand me. An explanation is: we fired Brian because he lost control of the team or we fired him because the record was not what we hoped for. Not: My gut says its the right thing to do and my staff agrees with me. All I am saying is a straightforward explanation would have been nice. Bischotti didnt give us one.

lol i wasnt replying to you, i was just putting my own 2 cents in there on the issue.

bottomline of this whole thing is......New Coach, new staff means new start, new beginning, new chances, new oppotunities for us to play well and bring new hope and a fresh new look on this team.
