Just though we'd reminisce a bit. That first play involving Ray made my jaw drop the first time I saw it.

Anyone else have any memories involving Ray, Boulware or Sharper that year?

Sharper's Int against Oakland in the AFCCG forsure. That play preceded an Offensiv PI call against Oakland on a brutal push off on Starks in the endzone. Rays tackle in the Super Bowl on Tiki Barber on a sweep was unreal. Ray's pick 6 against Tennessee in the Division game. Ray's tackle on George when he met him face up in the open field and just totally stood him up. That group was a special special group, and an odd one if you think about it. Boulware was a classic 3-4 OLB pass rusher, but played LOLB in the 4-3. Sharper could play any LB position and proved his worth as a MLB with the Texans for 4 years. And then Ray is and was the best ILB arguably ever.

How are they NOT number 1?!

I kind of feel like Jarret Johnson is our Bouleware, he's the unsung hero, making clutch plays and things work. J.J should've gone to the pro bowl this year instead of Terrell Suggs

will always be one of the most prominant Ray moments for me. Seeing him drag Eddie down the field with his leg.

I have to say the Sharper hit on Amani Toomer in the Superbowl was one of my favorite moments. Also, I've always liked Ray's hit on Steve McNair in the divisional round. It was a brutal shot and a hit that would now recieve a flag and a fine. Man, I miss when QB's were considered football players!

Although they're asked to do different things, Boulware was a better OLB than J.J. in about every category of being an OLB except for rush D. If we had Boulware healthy in his prime instead of J.J. we'd basically have a Woodley/Harrison combo like Pittsburgh does. No hate on JJ, just JJ cant do what Boulware could.

I actually watched that Divisional Game today at lunch, if you want to see how you open field tackle (ahem, Taylor Mays should watch that game), watch how many times Lewis hits George straight up, grill to grill, in the hole or the open field, and how many times he takes George down. Its unbelievable how Lewis wouldnt even try to go at his legs, or take an easier angle to bring down George, he just went face up on him all game long, daring George to break one of his tackles. Ray Lewis, was the baddest ****** machine to walk onto a football field in 2000.

In addition to all the other plays that everyone mentioned, I always think of Ray's tip of Kerry Collins' pass that Sharper picked off in the Super Bowl.

Ray's INT at the beginning of the 1st playoff game against the Broncos comes to mind as well.

Those three are my heroes along with Shannon Sharpe and Chris McAlister, the reason I got into football that much afterwards.

That first tackle by Ray would have been a 15 yard penalty today.
[/quote]

We can thank Roy Williams for that.

It was still an increible play. Derrick Brooks aside, I can't think of a LB who had the speed to make that tackle.

Its so disappointing that I wasn't a fan back then. But I've seen many videos, and the one thing that stands out is when Ray told the Tennessee crowd to be quiet after he clinched the playoff game with a TD.

I was watching Americas Game, and got chills watching that moment. I can only imagine how it felt watching it live.

You can imagine how heated, ashamed or stunned those Titans fan were when Ray scored after they had jeered and taunted him before the game.

Ray was pretty tame in shooshing them. I would have started doing the running man, robot or Primetime shuffle.

"I remember I put my hand to my mouth. And I told the Adelphia Coliseum to be quiet. Because you're all done."

That gave me chills.

No doubt, but I think Rays talk back was tight. He was jawing with everybody that game if you have the chance to look back and watch it. He gets into it with George, the Titans LT or LG(forget names), and at one point he tackles George in the open field and starts jawing at the entire Titans bench. When he picked off McNair and ruined the Titans dreams, the finger to the mouth to shut up was just sick. Like I said, baddest mother of all time in 2000. No one comes close at the LB position, before, during or since.

I didn't watch the game. Can't blame Ray though. If I was taking it to George and the Titans the way people have described, I would have had something to say too.

Like Preston said, best player in the NFL in 2000.

Ahhh man...I have the 2000 Ravens playoffs(as I am sure a lot of us do)on dvd and I watch that probably once every week or two. I love the Titans game...so many good moments. Right before we returned the field goal for a touchdown the announcers were talking about how Eddie George will probably get the 100 yard mark against our D. Just a part I thought was funny. That whole game was really good. George played a hell of a game for the Titans and to see Ray snatch the ball right out of his hands was a thing of beauty :). What a great season and I am hoping to have to buy another Superbowl run on dvd after this year!!!

Lol at Billicks comment after Ray did his entrance to the field at the end of the video. Wouldn't it be nice to get that kind of LB corps back for the 2010 season?
