Dwan Edwards Signs With Bills

39 posts in this topic

With the exception of Ray Rice, Chris Chester, Jamie Sharper, and Kim Herring, the Ravens are deplorable at drafting players in the second round, especially considering the success of our 1st round picks. Dan Cody, Adam Terry, Dwan Edwards, Gary Baxter, Anthony Weaver, Patrick Johnson, DeRon Jenkins...granted, several of the guys were serviceable, but for teams that draft as well as the Ravens in other rounds, you don't want a serviceable player in the second round, you want a good player. If we draft crap like this, just trade our 2nd round picks for a known commodity.

Hope Kruger breaks this trend.

I think we'll let him go. Kruger, though he isn't an NFL sized DE at the moment has experience as the position and is looking to bulk up. Look at Ray Rice, Ray Lewis, etc... neither were BIG their freshman year but came back with lumps of added muscle and dominated.

The Ravens are known for drafting players, putting weight on them and molding them in to exceptional NFL starters. Kruger has the ability, he's quick and he had no problems getting to arms reach of the QB. His only problem was he couldn't separate himself from the O-line to complete the play for a sack. He has the leg strength, just not the arm strength- something the Ravens are hoping he improves on.

Wow, Bills fans are really pooping their pants over this. Edwards was never anything special here..a decent backup at best.

Side note: They are also talking about how they want Gaither, and some of them think that they could get him in a trade for less than the 1st round tender. LOL.

Many websites report that's a done deal, others still have him as a Raven.
If he does go eventually, which is the most likely scenario anyway, we will address our focus to a DE at the draft day; I can see us picking up Odrick to be honest.
Edwards was a good DE and he improved significantly the last two years. He's not the guy that will make the huge play but he is solid. If he does move to Buffalo, he will probably regret it with the kind of D-line they possess.

It's kind of crazy that Edwards/Bannan are getting 20+ million dollar deals despite being backups in Baltimore.

By the way, it's quite encouraging that almost every player who leaves the organization, especially on defense, says that they wished things could have worked out with the Ravens, but went to another team due to monetary reasons and/or growing into a much bigger role.
Meanwhile, Edwards was introduced as a newly-minted Bill during a press conference. He had visited the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, but didn't get offers because he didn't pass their physicals. Edwards told the Times that the Ravens wanted him to have neck surgery after undergoing spinal fusion surgery two years ago where his C3 and C4 vertebrae were fused and his disc was removed with another surgically inserted from a cadaver.

However, he insists that he's healthy enough to play without a major risk. He said the Ravens wound up withdrawing an offer to him during the free agency process.
Kruger is listed at 6'4 265. Thats beyond the prototype for a 4-3 DE, his problem is hes not strong enough at the point of attack yet. 3-4 DE completely different story. Needs to throw on 20 pounds.
