Bye bye DL depth, but we still got Divens, McKinney, and Talavou

We need some backup DEs

Wow - sorry to hear that. I think we should have re-signed him. Hope this doesn't play out to be a bad thing for the Ravens. Time will tell

Not a big fan of Edwards. Decent run stopper in the 3-4 but it's not gonna be hard to find a replacement that can actually generate some pass rush.

I don't think so, I mean yeah he did start over Pryce late in the year but I don't think he'll do much in Buffalo, the only thing he will do is help them transition to a 3-4 defense. Now wasn't Edwards tendered and we get a draft pick?

He had more than 6 years of service, so he was not a restricted free agent

I'll try to be positive and think of this as opening a door for the younger guys to step in. Hopefully Kruger's weight gain goes well so he can get in on the action. I want to see what he can do next season.

Tough to watch Edwards go just as he was finally to make an impact but this opens the door for Kruger, the other d-lineman and also forces the team to address the d-line with one of their first 3 picks.

He filled in when Pryce was injured and did a great job.He will be missed ,but things change sometimes for the better and not the worse.Hold your heads up the Ravens will have a plan if they didn't I believe they would have went after either Bannan or Edwards.Go Ravens!!!

Well, we probably know what Ozzie's doing with the 25th overall pick... although, don't count out Kruger just yet.

Bills fans seem to think he is a Suggs Jr; Edwards was a nice fill-in this season with Pryce/Kelly falling off, but he is nearing 30, and nothing more than a decent gap-blocker.

Nope, I meant first 3 picks. There will be quality 3-4 DEs available even in the 5th round.

Apparently there's a conflicting report. It's on the front page. Here's the link:

i'm not worried about that, we can easily fill that gab by signing UDFA's, and we got mckinney, talvou, divens, we can ask Price to take pay cut and stay with the ravens

So if there's anyone out there who doesn't think DE is our biggest need right now, please stand up.

I agree. Gregg is still the starting NT unless one of the young NTs supplants him and Ngata is a DE. Kruger will likely be the other DE assuming he bulks up enough but even if he doesn't, the team could wait till either the 2nd or later rounds to draft a DE.

Last year Kelly most certainly did not demonstrate that he can be a dependable nose tackle on a consistent basis, and Kruger has yet to see any significant time.

In terms of cornerbacks, Webb looks to be a lock if he can come back healthy, which, granted, is a giant if, and Foxworth looked pretty solid after the bye last season.

There's no doubt that the cornerback position is relatively unreliable, but it's the lesser of two evils.

All that being said, those are, by far, our two worst positions on the entire team, and they aren't even that bad.

Yes, Gregg didn't have a solid season but there's a belief two years removed from his knee injury, he could return to form. As for Kruger, he hasn't seen any significant PT yet but that doesn't he isn't working towards a starting role. He'll likely be Pryce's back-up next season and could even start stealing snaps as the season wears on.

With the CBs, even if Webb's knee heals, he won't truly be back till 2011. That's why drafting a CB is top priority in my opinion because Foxworth and Fabian/Carr can't be the starting pair again.

Keep in mind it would help the secondary and make their job way easier if they have a front 3 or 7 getting consistent pressure. With what we have now, there's no way we get consistent pressure on anyone (slightly exaggerated), making it harder for our secondary. How good our CBs play may sometimes depend on the D line getting pressure and/or forcing turnovers and bad throws.

Though I'm inclined to believe Adam Schefter given his accuracy rate over the past few years, there's always the possibility that Ozzie could've had a better counter-offer or Edwards could've had a change of heart at the last minute. I wouldn't expect Ozzie to overpay for him, though.

Is it just me or does any (former) player of our's that signs with another team always get called something along the lines of "[Insert Star Ravens' Player here] Junior"? Attribute that to the general consensus of our defense, I suppose. It's nice to have your team's defense so widely respected (and feared) that other teams' fans get excited just to have our back-ups.

I'm not too worried about Edwards leaving, but hey. It's sad to see him go, especially from a winning team... to the Bills.
