There's a big difference between the Fabula Nova Crystalilis collection and every Final Fantasy in the future. I could understand the FNC games being more like that, as they aren't traditional RPGs. But I think you're misunderstanding that (along with your friend) and thinking every FF will be along those lines. If I remember correctly, the SE stated that they are going back to traditional elements when it comes to exploring (aKa towns and NPCs) for their future Offline entries in the series. I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Plus, a local game store isn't a very reliable source, let alone GameStop.

I really do hope you're right. I used to love & enjoy Final Fantasy, even 12 for that matter. Not so much 11 or 13 but the rest have blown my mind. I spent over 320 hours playing 9, over 150 hours playing 12, and over 100 hours playing 7. I would take the advice of SE over GameStop that's for sure.

When is the release date of Versus? Do you know? I never even heard of it till I read about it on this message board.

There's no release date for Versus yet, that I know of. And the part you bolded, I'm almost 100% sure I read that in an interview with SE in GameInformer. They also stated that they intended to include towns and NPCs in 13, however, they were rushed to finish it and ultimately had to leave something out. Therefore, the towns and NPCs were the odd ones out.

It's not really milking it. X-2 was milking the cash cow with a crappy game. Fabula Nova Crystallis is just a collection of games set in the same universe, it's alot like the Final Fantasy VII Collection. Only there won't be many (if any) returning characters in the other XIII games.

It wasn't very long ago. I'd imagine it was in the next issue after they reviewed FFXIII. If I remember correctly, it was in the Afterwords column.

looking thru the mags to find the SE interview still,haven't come across but I am looking but I did find the interview with the FFXIII developers and this is what was said

Motomu Toriyama:In Final Fantasy XIII,Lightning and the other main characters are persucuted and on the run within their world as dangerous L'Cie.The concept of exploring towns and shopping did not make sense in light of the plot,so from the very start of development we had decided that "towns" would be incorporated in the form of a handful of large cities.Instead of achering to the traditional style of RPG gameplay,we wanted to involve players by presenting one dramatic situation after the other.The residents of each town are fully voiced,which is something new to the series,and something we hope the fans will have fun with.

Final Fantasy XIV is getting released on September 30th for the PC... and "early March 2011" for PS3. Seriously? I have to wait til next year when they originally said that PS3 would be the only console you'd be playing FFXIV on in 2010? THANKS SQUARE-ENIX!

as of right now no,it is a PS3,PC exclusive but that doesnt mean that wont change

SE was in talks with Microsoft regarding a 360 version, but was apparently unable to come to an agreement. So chances of it coming to the 360 are extremely slim.

there will be no characters from FFXIII in XIII Versus. It si set in the same universe, differnet planet, its going to be a more dark, more realistic, and in a more modern world similar to todays Japan. I seen the trailer for this game and I must say I am liking what I am seeing. For some reason, I believe its going to be a really strong game unlike XIII. If you have not seen the trailer. I suggest you do so. I would find it but frankly I am too lazy at the moment lol. Its almost 2 in the morning, cut me some slack
