Them Jets Man, I Dont Know About Them

19 posts in this topic

The jets have recently signed LT to a 2 year deal, they also got the CB from the chargers, which has had his up and downs but who hasn't. I also seen where they are in play to land Marshal......If this happens i think the jets are going to be a very strong contender for years to come, as much as i hate to say it lol...But i feel the ravens will be just as high as them after this draft....Just thought i would get your opinion on the jets off-season moves let me know, Thanks...

I think it was ridiculous to cut Thomas Jones a much better RB in their system, obviously, and take a shot with a player with not much left in his tank, FOR A BIGGER DEAL than Jones wanted. Hopefully LT does well with them, to prove that maybe the Chargers just suck at running the ball, (which I hope is the case)

I'm not afraid of the Jets one bit, I actually look forward to when we play them next year and was hoping to play them in the playoffs. However best of luck to them, I'm a fan of Rex Ryan and believe in an alternate universe he would've been a great head coach for the Ravens.

Confused by their recent moves, mainly their ditching a premiere back in Thomas Jones for a washed up has-been like Ladanian Tomlinson.

I hope they'll be a great team for a long time, we need someone in that division to challenge the Patriots. Tired of Patriots domination year in and year out. Also I like Rex Ryan and Bart Scott.

I think Mark Sanchez needs to develop a bit more before they become a *serious* threat though.

I'm of the opinion that LT can fit in well in the Jets' running game. They need strong RBs rather than fast ones and that's what they got in LT. I'm not too sure if it was a mistake when they released Jones but most Jets fans claim he is not such a loss. I doubt Greene can step up next year for the starting job but the fact that Sanchez will be much more experienced come next year and also the fact that their defence was extremely good last term with Revis as the leading man, will certainly make them competitors.
Although, I don't think the Jets will deliver when it matters most because of inexperience (see Greene and Sanchez) as well as the lack of a solid second receiver behind Edwards.

I personally think it's a slap in the face to Thomas Jones; the deal he wanted was $100,000 less than they gave L.T. and they chose him instead. L.T. is still a solid RB but over the past couple of seasons overall Jones > L.T. The Chiefs are stacked at RB now.

That's sad. Every penny counts I guess, so $100k is too much for the Jets to afford. Both TJ and LT are respectable RBs. Good luck to them.

L.T. was an absolutely amazing back for many years, to call him a washed-up has been is a bit harsh, considering his credentials. He's been fighting through injuries, but I think he can turn the corner and be very productive in New York. I hope he proves you wrong.

Any RB can run behind a great O-line. This is what made Thomas Jones replaceable because right now you they could sign JaMarcus Russel as their RB and have him go for 1,000 yards. Though TJ will probably look more successful then LT as this is his first year in the system. LT may have a more Willis McGahee role of being a TD Vulture then anything else not that this would be bad as long as he can maintain a decent YPC.

The only chance LT has of going back to a resemblance of himself is if the Jets Oline absolutely mauls for 16 weeks like none other. He doesnt hit the hole like he used to, and cant shake tackles anymore. Jones had 1400 yards, if Jets fans dont think theyll miss him theyre kidding themselves. LT isnt going to pick up half of those yards.

Hopefully they don't expect him to, the person being held to expectations should be Shonne Green.

If they finish this rumored trade of sending Braylon Edwards (and more compensation, problem in the form of a draft pick) to Denver and the Jets get Brandon Marshall to team up with Cotchery... they are definitely my favorite for Super Bowl Champion.

Of course, injuries derail a season faster than anything. So only time will tell.

But yeah, ignoring all other factors... I love the Jets defense to dominate this year. And Marshall and Cotchery is a LETHAL combination of receivers. Mark Sanchez might not be Peyton Manning... but with those kind of receivers and that kind of defense, you don't need to be Peyton Manning.

Joe Montana won four super bowls, but I don't want him quarterbacking the Ravens this year.

They had the #1 defense last year, and didn't even have a premiere pass rusher. They basically shut out the Chargers offense in the 2nd half with no legitimate #2 CB, and gave the Colts all they could handle until Manning exploited their weaknesses.

The only question mark at the moment is if Sanchez can play like he did in the playoffs for a whole season. Also, RB is a concern, but Greene has potential to be a star.

As a Raven fan, this team does scare me. I really hope we beat them, because it will hurt pretty badly if we don't.

They have their defects just like every other NFL team, they lost twice to a pretty mediocre Dolphins squad, and once to the Bills (ill chalk that up to Sanchez), the Falcons were another team that was pretty wishy washy this year as well. Both our teams matchup against each other well, our front 7 is better imo, and their secondary is better. Our WRs are better (wow, i can say that now?) they Oline is better. This comes down to which team can draft 1 or 2 immediate impact now players for next year.

So at the moment, they have the better D, we have a better offense.

One of the many reasons this years draft is so important.

Was Brandon Marshall playing when we faced Broncos last year? If he was then I'm not worried about him.

And to be quite honest, I see Cotchery as nothing more than an average receiver.

I wouldn't go as far to say that they have the better D. I will give them better secondary even though I want to just say they have the best CB and thats it. I like Rex Ryan and hope he does good up there and is a very successful coach(except against us). I for one don't have a doubt that we will have a better draft than most teams :).

lol not quite that simple, their LBs are not good in coverage, their safety play is not what I would call good either. Leonhard is a drag down tackler, with average coverage skills. Where they have a clear edge is CB, Oline in general, and maybe schematically defensively for our type of team. We have the upper hand in QB play, HBs, overall WRs, Dline, and LB coverage, if Reed comes back we have the upper hand in safety play as well. Also if Suggs comes back like the guy he was his whole career minus last year, the Jets dont have any OLB close to his game changing ability.

Statistically, we allowed a whopping 1.5 points more per game than the Jets did and scored an awesome 2.6 points per game more on offense (but that is the difference between being 9th in scoring and 17th).

I think the difference will be greater this year.
