I'll take that in a heartbeat.

If we knew the Raiders would've been interested we should have put a third round tender on him.

But I can't really see this happening. Because Troy's 40 time is too slow for Al Davis's liking.

yeah if troy ran a 4.3, he would be the Raiders starting QB. I didn't capitalize Troy because he doesnt want to be part of this organization anymore so he doesn't matter to me

Why hate on the guy because he wants a promotion? What if you had a job where you knew you were NEVER going to be promoted... a place you'd been for 4 years? Not only that but you've got a boss who's telling you you deserve a chance to be promoted but it's just not gonna happen where you're at right now. You ask for a good letter of recommendation and look for another place where you can get your chance, that's all Troy's doing.

I commend him for his perseverance and his work ethic in general.

At this point, I could care less where Troy lands. I'd just like to see him land the Ravens a draft pick.

The team could then draft a QB with more potential late in the draft. It never hurts to have a back-up who you have confidence in if the starter goes down.

Agreed. He clearly wants out of baltimore so i have 0 interest in what we do with him get us another pick and c-ya later troy. He's already burned the bridge with us fans he's nothing to me now.

If he wants out of Baltimore then he NEEDS to go. What if Flacco goes down? We'll have someone who's head and heart is clearly in a different place, starting for us. I don't like that.

Original poster just wanted to know if anyone had anymore information on this. You know, like people who pay to be an ESPN insider.

So unless you do, find one of the other million "let's bash Troy Smith" threads to voice your hatred.

I realize I don't contribute anything towards more information regarding Troy Smith to Oakland, but hopefully this will stop the useless posts so we don't have to sift through them in case someone actually does have more info.

Rather than senseslessly rushing to his defense, how about reading what people have written. Has anyone bashed Troy on this topic?

People are sick of hearing about a back-up QB who hasn't proved a thing trying to force a move.

Screw all of this wildcat B.S. That bubblegum is about to lose its flavor. Trade Troy Smith for a 6th or 7th and let's sign Derek Anderson to back up Flacco.

I'd take either of those picks for Troy and Anderson would get his wish to see the Browns get "rolled" if the Ravens signed him. LOL!

I dont have information on this and I didn't see anything at rotoworld.com either.

Im laughing at all of you haters who are sour for Troy wanting to go somewhere else. Like you would wanna spend your NFL career being second fiddle. You are all full of it. He is not asking for a starting job, he is asking for a chance to compete for one and if this organization wont let him do it he wants to go somewhere he can. No hard feelings are meant. He is ambitious.

How are we "haters"? Because we are tired of his agent constantly casking for him to be moved?

No one is of full of anything. He can be ambitious but why aren't young back-up QBs across the league demanding a trade in the middle of the post-season. Because it's unprofessional.

Intriguing thought:

I think this Smith thing has been cunningly used as a motivational tool for Flacco. Whether intentional or not, Harbs and Co. have kind of created a never-ending competition between these two. Although Flacco has clearly outstripped Smith to this point, in the back of his mind he has to consider the fact that, had Troy not gotten sick, their roles could be reversed.

Honestly, how many snaps has Troy gotten? How can any quarterback really improve with as few snaps as he's had? I'm not saying he would be better than Flacco given the same margin-for-error that Joe's gotten, I just think it's possible that Troy could've surprised us had he not fallen ill.

And I think Joe knows that too. So now, with Harbs constantly baiting Smith with "I think he'll start some day" talk, he motivates Troy to work hard for the opportunity, and simultaneously challenges Flacco not to be outworked.

The real genius (again, deliberate or otherwise) is that since both QBs are young, high character guys, there's a low-risk of malcontent about the situation, and the result is that we fans get a great starting QB and a viable back-up to ease our minds going into each game.

Now, I really don't understand the ire some of you have for Troy's attitude. Has he really been all that toxic, or has he done his job? In my opinion, the reason we hear about him so much is that we've got such a well-oiled machine of a franchise that there's not too much else on the fringe to talk about. We signed some receivers... awesome... and? Troy Smith works hard and wants to start somewhere. It's the offseason, lighten up. If our worst problem is that our back-up quarter back (who due to NO FAULT OF HIS OWN missed out on his chance to start) aspires to greater things, I think we're in pretty good shape. :baltimore-ravens: :baltimore-ravens: :baltimore-ravens:

Keep it coming, boys! By my count, if my 'Crazy Al Calendar' is accurate, when Al Davis sees 143 more negative posts about Troy Smith he'll be compelled to trade a first round pick for him!

More negativity for Crazy Al!

The last thing that we, as Raven fans, should worry about is who is on the bench behind Joe. Don't get me wrong, any team is one hit away from having to answer that question, but face it, whether Troy stays or goes does not really matter. One, he deservers the chance to leave and try to fulfill a dream we know he has had his whole life. Two, if John Beck is not the "insurance" we need Ozzie will find a vetern back up to fill the void. You may not understand my logic, but the Raven's , with one move are in a better position than most teams in the NFL.

A unanimous user intentionally choosing not to capitalize Troy's name and calling it out seems like a bashing to me...

I would like to see Troy get a good opportunity on a different team. He has done nothing wrong asking for a trade as some of the others have posted.

I see Beck as a pretty savvy, but physically limited quarterback. Not a scrambler, not a great arm, but makes fairly smart decisions and knows Cam's system from Miami. Decent game manager, not a guy you want to lead comebacks.

Probably middle of the road for a backup, just depends how much priority we place there. I like the idea of signing Derek Anderson, though.

I haven't heard any rumors, but the Rams need a QB. They took Boller, why not him as well?
Because they have the first draft pick and can get any Qb they want, probably Bradford.

Why would they want our sloppy seconds?
