Uncapped Year!

A. Boldin, D. Mason, T.O. and D. Stallworth can you imagine this for our WR corp? Mason is likely to sign soon, I'm sure we can come up with a way to give T.O. worth wild contract with our elite 8 restrictions. I do not see how a team could defend this group of WR's.

Im sure you wouldnt need to give TO some sort of wild contract to fit within Elite 8 rules, I may be wrong though.

TO's contract would be 1 year for $2M - $3M or something along those lines.

It's weird because for once I am actually not adverse to bring Owens in for one year. But it doesn't look like that will happen.

All honesty, I would still love to see us sneek away with Dez Bryant. We still need that young WR to mold with Joe Flacco over the years.

i think talent wise, TO would add alot to us right now. Unfortunately, he'd be like a little school girl when he has to share the ball with mason, stallworth, and boldin, and become more of a bad thing than a good lol. I hope Dez falls to us, but im not sure thats gonna happen. I dont even see us drafting a WR until the second round, or third if we can gain some picks in that round. Ozzie may trade back to gain another second rounder, or third. If we stay at 25, think we'll draft a TE.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Ozzie trades our #1 pick for more picks.

This draft is stocked with talent and Ozzie doesn't want to be stuck with his lowest total of 5 picks. Luckily we should get some compensatory picks for the 2009 free agents.

Two Second round picks can be very valuable in this draft.

yup i agree totally. Hes prob gonna trade the 25th, move back and pick up 1 additional pick, 2 maybe depending on how far back he moves. And this draft is deep. Unless there is something really intrigueing there at 25... i see him moving back.

Yea I agree and have been saying that a move like this makes so much sense for a quite some time. Unless somebody that Oz and company truly love falls I think that there is a good possibility that this happens, however, this draft is top heavy with CB's and I think it would be a mistake to not grab the one that we want if he is there at #25.

Uncapped year yes but Mr. Bisciotti has already said that the Ravens are going to spend as though the cap was in place and plan a budget.

A move that I would say is very smart. We don't want to be like the Bears and have to unload a bunch of talent in the future just because we got greedy. I love the way our organization has molded itself. We have become a very organized team in the league that looks to stay competitive every year versus going for the must win now attitude. This mentality has to be there to keep up with the other power houses in the league.

I agree 100%. I'm VERY glad that Mr. Bisciotti doesn't have the Dan Snyder complex.

true, but they could always grab a reciever in the second, and a decent CB in the 2nd or third if we trade back

Yeah, I am getting the feeling that Ozzie is going to move out of the #25 slot to secure numerous picks in the 2nd-4th Rounds (and even a #1 next year?)...

I understand what you are saying here, but my point would be why settle for less if you have the opportunity to snatch an immediate play-maker at the CB position. I understand that nothing is guarenteed when it comes to these players but my personal belief is that there are a few CB that will go in the first and early second that we immediately impact the team that drafts them.

You are on target for the contract. This would make a defense sick trying to defend.

If Moss and Welker can be defended, then anyone can. Besides, I don't think Holmes, Ward, Wallace and Randle El is too shabby either. Plus we both have secondary issues. Who knows.

yup, if someone is available that can impact the team and falls in the bpa/need catagory that the ravens tend to use, we should pull the trigger no doubt.

Warden Randle El has not been any kind of factor in the NFL since leaving the steelers and I respect the steelers WR's, but if you add T.O. to our corp along with Mason, I will take that over your hands up and down!

I think he's gonna trade down too. Only way he doesnt is if there is a player thats top10 on their board that hasnt been taken.

He's not a #2. He's a slot receiver. I'd be careful about overlooking him. The Redskins had he, Brandon Lloyd and Coles and each of them were successful prior to going to Washington. Again, our situation at WR this year is going to be pretty darn good. Yours too, but what it really comes down to head-to-head is the secondary.

The Ravens will not have Mason AND T.O.

It will be a good WR situation for the steelers all the way up to the point that they play the Raven's, then it will be a bad day for the steelers Warden.!!! :dancingbanana:

I noticed by the time/date stamp on your post that this was before news of Mason's resigning. Not sure we need TO now. I think the Ravens's FO did a pretty good job during FA considering they were hamstrung by the final 8 rule.

We managed to get through FA without breaking the bank, without losing the first round draft pick and resigning D. Mason. This years draft is just icing on the cake and I can see trading out of the first to get more picks. Things look rosy, indeed, in Charm City.

Like all Ravens fans...I am giddy and tickled purple!

Ok, i was just thinking about a situation and wondered peoples thoughts on it. Not sure the possiblities of this. But during this uncapped year, I understand the significance of not wanting to a bunch of players and spend a lot of money long term... since there is no telling when things will become capped again. But say... a big spending team like Dallas... why couldnt they openly make it public that they want to make a strong superbowl run for one year. And any player who wanted to come for (one) year... and get paid good money. They'd sacrifice alil security with only a one year deal.. but does that matter if they get a superbowl win and end up in free agency again one year later? Dallas could pay a boatload of money into free agency this year with no limitations. Would this attract players if it was widely known that a team is willing to spend outrageous money for only one year, in a collective plan to win a superbowl?

lol. I envy the Ravens at the moment: They're in better position to do great things in the draft. We're in good position, but the whole Ben thing is a concern.
