Bengals About To Make Need For New CB & DE More Urgent

T.O. is pretty likely to sign with him
He's not the player he once was of course, but if you put him on the field with Chad and the other receivers, Carson Palmer has the potential to carve the secondary up like Jason Voorhees. But if the Ravens make something happen to help the pass rush and the coverage then it's far less worrying

we will be alright, and ravensgirl is right, Ozzie already is gonna upgrade our secondary through the draft/free agency... we have to justfor the simple fact we have 2 coming off acl tears, a safety that broke his ankle, reed with a neck and shoulder prob. not only that but... carr and foxworth really started to step up and come into their own toward the end of the year. The D started clicking.. i expect that to continue into next year.

With Q with us, the pressure's off on drafting a WR in the first or second round. Like I said, don't worry. Ozzie will take care of things.

And ha ha Carson Palmer said the other day "If anyone can handle diva WRs I can." Someone on SI.com (and I'm sorry I don't remember who) said 'Be careful what you wish for, Carson.'

 For real. I don't care of TO signs with Cincy....that means he's not here.

This excites me more since it makes it less likely for the Bengals to rob a good wideout or TE from us in the draft.

good point. I'm actually leaning more toward the ravens not even drafting a reciever in the first round. I see them taking a TE, or CB

Personally I like the fact that Owens could be a Bengal. With his tendency for dropped balls, it will provide a feeding frenzy for our CB's and Ed Reed. I can picture it now with the ball going through his hands right to the bread basket of Ed Reed.

You can look at in one of two ways.

1. OchoCinco and Owens together as a formidable foe.
2. OchoCinco and Owens together as a ticking time bomb.

Who wants the ball more? Who will feel inadequate if the other one is doing better? Neither of these two cats are team players. Plus both are aging fast.

The Bengals passing game has pretty much given the Ravens problems for the last... 6 years or so.

Whether it was Chad Johnson, TJ Houshmanzedah, Chris Henry, Kelley Washington, or someone else... Carson Palmer seemed to always know how to beat our secondary, even when we actually had decent corners who were healthy in McAlister and Rolle.

So the worst that could happen is just more of the same. I'd much rather make sure the Ravens OFFENSE can finally keep up with a team like this... than to try and make our defense back to what it was in 2006.

The defense is going to have a lot of holes to fill in the next year or two. While we don't have any superstar corners, it's probably our deepest position as far as little drop-off from starter to back-ups. Hopefully Lardarius Webb recovers 100% before he tries to play again. They'll pick one up in the draft, undoubtedly. But they're going to need multiple defensive line picks with the departure of Bannan and possibly Edwards. And I'm not convinced that Zbikowski is the right guy for Ed Reed replacement. I really hope they bring in someone else through the draft or otherwise. And I have no idea who is going to call out defensive audibles once Ray Lewis hangs it up. We still don't have that guy who is guaranteed to be here long term and is learning from Ray right now. That worries me.

As long as Carson continues his regression then it really wont matter who the Bengals have playing receiver.
As far as drafting Bryant goes; I would love for us to do it IF he falls to 25. We draft BPA and he'll likely be the best come pick 25.
P.S - Just lost all respect for Pat Kirwan after he said we'd pass on Bryant to draft the abomination that is FSU's Patrick Robinson. I doubt that tool could cover Bengals practice squad receivers on a consistant basis. While there have been some character questions surrounding Bryant in recent weeks, I don't think he will fall to the Ravens. I'm hoping he falls like Randy Moss did but doubt it happens.

As for Pat Kirwan, Mod9 made a comment around a week ago that certain "experts" create unrealistic mocks to get people talking and generate hits for their site. I'm sure that's the case with Kirwan and a few other NFL.com analysts who I've seen make some head-scratching mocks as well.

I don't understand how this will help them. There problem has been evident since the passing of Chris Henry that what the Bengals lack is a burner. (Evidence = Season Crumbling)

All I know the Steelers are going to be in for some tough times.

Their CBs are worse than ours. Plus the influx of Owens and Boldin into the division could spell disaster for them. If Troy can't stay healthy again, they can kiss the playoffs goodbye easily.

It will help them because now they have another receiver to get rocked by Ray Lewis... only to have the officials throw a flag and make up a penalty that didn't happen.

Well Cinci just signed Antonio Bryant. Considering they did this on the same day they have a meeting with TO they are either trying to drive his asking price down, or are not that interested in him. We'll see... I have a feeling they will still sign him.

If they signed Bryant, the prospects of them signing Owens drop significantly, unless he comes at a great price.

Deal was for 4 years, I dont really see them signing owens also, unless its a 1 year deal for pretty cheap

Looks like the division just got tougher.

http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/03/10/report-bengals-come-to-terms-with-bryant/

Bryant and Ochocinco are going to be a challenge for our defense.

Good thing, we finally have an offense to catch up with their firepower.

Interesting. Im not too worried about Bryant...what did he do last year anyways?
Who else is interested in TO now?

so after reading the espn article, Bryant's deael is 4yr/28mil.
Considering thats exactly what we are paying for Boldin id say we got the better deal, even though we gave up a draft pick for him.

Dare I suggest T.O. make a visit to The Castle? It might light a fire under Mason if we showed even minor interest in him... just sayin'

You got a point there. Shoot, even Boldin, Stallworth, Clayton, T.O would be lights out. They wouldn't be able to stop the run at all trying to matchup all those WR's out there.
