Ravens Dave

Week 17: Pittsburgh Steelers At Baltimore Ravens

175 posts in this topic

The play that WAS under review was the kick return by Yamon Figurs that he downed in the endzone.

Mike Tomlin felt that Figurs caught the ball within the field of play BEFORE downing it in the endzone, making it a safety and NOT a touchback.

Of course, it LOOKED close, but the review showed that Figurs had one foot in the field of play and the other in the endzone as he made the catch, making it a touchback by rule.

That game-saving INT by David Pittman DEFINITELY may have saved his job, marking the 2nd pick of his day AND career...

Well, those last few minutes were a little painful to watch, but all-in-all, a win's a win, and it's nice to be able to end the season on a high note.

Great game overall played by the Ravens, and now, it's onto the playoffs (where the Ravens sadly won't be this year) and next season.

5-11 hurts, but here's to a great New Year's Eve, and better luck next season. :)

It's been fun posting in these game threads, but all good things come to an end. Until next season. ;)

OK, I'm going to go ahead and apply some male logic to this victory.

we have won 3 of the last four meetings between PIT+BAL, thus we are the better team.

thus we are the best team in the AFC north.

the AFCN is arguably the hardest division in the AFC,and thus league.

thus we we are the best team in the NFL.

when someone says thus that many times, you know they're right!

First half, great game and wet. Second half, some of the same ole thing, colder weather. It wasn't too bad, but I couldn't believe all of the empty seats. I wasn't surprised by the number of Steeler fans, but I was disappointed.

I may have missed him, but I don't think I saw Anderson on the sideline, much less in the game. Anyone have info on him?

Time to go to sleep and hybernate until August.

Think Anderson was out with a hamstring injury.

Here's to avoiding a divisional sweep! Yay.

so yeah i think we should rethink our RBs for next year. I'm thinkin:

Willis

Ross

Smith

although Ross and Smith could be interchangable...Anderson is old and didn't look nearly as sharp in the little time he had. Ross showed me a better game last night though so thats why I put him ahead of Musa. Ross would be a nice compliment to McGahee's power because after McGahee is done runnin people over with his stiff arm they'll have to deal with Ross who's good at getting low, has a really quick cut, and a lot of power in those tiny legs of his. Musa I still like, but he's just another Willis (just not as good). Of course I'd need to see how each of em do next year to say for sure which is better, but right now thats where I'm at.

Btw, Troy Smith played pretty decently. There were a couple times where he should've been picked (that could've potentially screwed us in the end) but as for a second start by a rookie, I was impressed. Troy made some really nice throws (great spiral) and when nothing was there he was quick enough to pick up the first on his own. if he can limit or eliminate the careless mistakes and hone his technique he could actually be a great player. He hadn't really impressed me before (besides his college career) but the game last night gave me some hope.

Devard Darling may just give us that 4 wide option we want, and if Figurs improves as a reciever we might even get a 5 wide set next year....which would be rpetty cool if it actualyl worked for us. Our recieving corps is pretty strong actually, and if we aren't hit with the injury bug again we can have some threatening packages in store for people.

I agree with whoever said Pittman saved his job last night, but I can't say as much for Martin, I think he's gotta go. Pittman's first pick was a thing of beauty (although he fumbled). If he can keep in position he might actually turn out alright. I still say we need a high draft pick Corner though.

Let's see let's see.... our o-line cut back on false starts and dia decent job of protecting troy (Yanda did have a false start that brought back a 1st and goal situation though) and our d-line was as dominant as it had been all year.

all in all I would've loved to see us hold onto that 27-7 lead all game but now im just glad we didnt let it slip away. now we have something to build off of next year instead of a 8-9 game losing streak.

Bring on the easier schedule! Playoffs here we come! (next year :) )

I thought it was funny how this week when the Steelers fans came on these boards, they had to cheer us up with "Come on guys. These games are always close" instead of the usual (but brief thanks to the mods) trash talk that goes on.

I'd hate to say "I told you so" (especially when it means my Steelers lost to the Ravens) but.... I knew it'd be competative. Congratulations!

In fact, I just threw up a little in my mouth reading that.

Hold on now, let's not forget that it was a meaningless game of back-ups. (shamefully) I stopped watching as I just wasn't interested in a game that meant nothing.

Hold on know

1) that was a joke

2)you had most of your starters out on the field, let's not just lie!

3)there was 3rd seed up for grabs, the seed that might have helped you avoid the pats

4)yes you should be ashamed!

Does losing to a team that lost to the Dolphins make you worse than the Dolphins?

Why yes...yes it does.

That's weird that I answered my own question, isn't it?

Why yes...yes it is.

So, if you put it like that, the steelers are the worst team in the NFL!

I KNEW IT!

I beg to differ :P

We're in the playoffs.

Speaking of shameful though, does this quote sound familiar?

"It's hard for me to get pumped for this game, not least because now I wont be able to watch it, but also because i see us getting slaughtered."

I believe you were one of the b-more fans I addressed when I posted that it would be competative and not to worry too much, yadda, yadda.
