Benjamin Watson...

So I just look at Adam Schefter's twitter and saw that Ben Watson was visiting the Browns. Turns out he's a UFA, which I was unaware of. We need TE depth and a guy to play across from Heap in 2TE sets. Watson is 29 and would most likely be a cheap option compared to drafting a TE in the 1st Round. He's a solid blocker and has good hands.

Just throwing it out there but what do you guys think?

He is worth a look if his price tag is cheap enough. The Browns are probably willing to pay him a higher salary because unless your Troy Smith, Cleveland isn't the most attractive of locations to play.

We need youth at the TE position behind Heap... maybe if we brought in Watson for cheap under a 1-year deal that would be appealing, but anything long-term, not so much.

My thoughts on the TE position is now that we got our pro bowl wr it should open the door to draft J.E. gresham. this kind of player only comes around once in awhile. I wasent to impressed with him at the combine but this guy is a football player if you disagree watch film.

Watson would be a good addition but I'd rather see the team draft a TE for the future who will learn from Heap this season.

Wouldn't mind it to be honest. After the LJ Smith experiment, I'm up to take a risk on this guy.

I think we definitely need more depth at TE and having both a veteran FA and a promising rookie would be nice. We ended up using Chris Chester and Edgar Jones by the end of the year. Now, they are both pretty good blockers (jones originally came to the team as an OLB/DE) but their recieving abilities are unkown. A rookie coming in may struggle blocking and picking up protections so it may be a good idea to bring in another veteran so that there is stability and depth at that position.

Ozzie likes to eliminate as many needs before the draft so that the Ravens can simply take the best player available. This is epecially true in the first round.

If we don't get Greshem or Gronk in the draft Watson would be a viable option, just hope he gets more looks than LJ Smith
