Crazy Ravens Superbowl Superstitions Anyone?

30 posts in this topic

So I read the news article about how Ravens are excited about Boldin coming to town. And I posted a comment about McClains 'tweet'. “Let’s get Ravens Dallas bound!!! Maaaaaaytrixxxxxxx!!!"

Note this thread is just for fun. and here is the post I made.

“Let’s get Ravens Dallas bound!!! Maaaaaaytrixxxxxxx!!!"
Would it be a Coincidence or Destiny that we beat the Cowboys in their last game of their old stadium only to come back and win the first Superbowl in Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys precious new stadium???? Can't wait for the upcoming season already! Go Ravens!!

So then I thought of some more superstitions or coincidences..

We won the Superbowl in the 2000-2001 season (the start of the past decade). Now we are approaching the 2010-2011 season (another start of an new decade) Getting back to the Superbowl victory, We won against the Giants right? Well remember how when Peyton won a Superbowl then next year Eli won the Superbowl? Well this year Peyton lost the Superbowl, So could it be? That the Ravens will play the Giants and beat Eli in the Superbowl, for the 2010-2011 season in the Cowboys stadium after beating them for their last game in their old stadium!! It would be weird but REALLY awesome.

Just thought I'd share this. If anyone else has anything else that they have thought of themselves and like to share I'd love to hear, again this is just for fun.

Superstitions? Not about the Superbowl but games in general.

- I don't go to football parties or bars to watch the game- we always lose when I do

- I HAVE to wear my Ravens jersey (Flacco jersey since I burnt my authentic Clayton jersey in my neighbors bonfire)

Well shoot, if that's all it takes... I'll go out and buy a couple Clayton jerseys for the sole purpose of burning too!

Sacrifice the jerseys to the performance gods, and ye shall receive! I like it!

In regular seasons I have to wear my alternate Reed jersey. I will only sit in one chair and refuse to move a muscle during a ravens offensive series. But that's just me lol seems to work!

Good topic! I've been known to change into a different Raven's jersey during the course of a game to try to invoke "the momentum gods." Plus I only wear the color the Ravens are wearing, but in an exteme fit of aniexiety, I'll grab a black one.

I really believe the ravens are going to the super bowl this coming season. I have been a ravens fan for 5 years now and I have never once said I think they're going to the super bowl on any said year but I think 2010-2011 will be Baltimore's year. If everyone is healthy and depending on what we draft our shot is looking really great at the moment.

Mine seem to change from year to year. Back in 2006, I wore the same jeans, hoodie, and hat every sunday. In 2008, I wouldn't wear the same jersey two Sundays in a row. Last year, I decided to grow a playoff beard, and I refused to move or even touch this old wooden cat figurine thing in our living room that was my grandmothers. The wife hated the "playoff cat," but he was not to be touched until we were knocked out or won it all. He is presently in a box in the attic. Obviously, none of those superstitions worked.

My dad and I have Ravens hats that we put on when we need some momentum.

He also has a Ravens gnome that he brings out and puts in front of the TV. The gnome has been known to will us to victory. His catch phrase is "Gnome power!"

My girl paints her toe nails purple and doesn't repaint them til the end of the season. I dont do much, except try not to have a heart attack every week. I used to do a lot of praying for divine intervention, it always seemed to work maybe we should start doing that more often.

That would be awesome if we could win the first SB in Dallas's new stadium after beating them in their last game at their old stadium. Now I'll say this, Dallas fans aren't going to take it well if an NFC East Rival represents the NFC in the SB nor will Jerry Jones. That's like The Patriots playing and winning the SB in the Jets/Giants new Stadium, or (god forbid) Steelers winning the SB in Baltimore. All I know is we have beat the Cowboys and Texans the last time we played them, so Ravens have good record in Texas, and plus it will be 10 years since we won our first SB, so just maybe it will happen. Plus hey, we could go back to back like we could have done if they would have kept Trent around.

At the beginning of the season there should be a thread posted where only positive comments about the team are posted (no player/coaching/front office debates, no blame games or any of that drama). We would have to keep the thread alive until the Ravens season is over or if/when the Ravens win a Superbowl. It could end a lot of pointless thread starting about how excited people are about how good the seasons going and what not.

That can certainly be arranged. ;)

Meanwhile, something interesting I thought of: the last time the Ravens had a solid team from top-to-bottom, heading into the regular season with this much excitement was 2006 after the acquisition of Steve McNair. Fall 2006 also happened to be my senior year of high school.

Fast-forward, and Fall 2010 will be the start of my senior year of college and my (probably) second-to-last semester. 2006 was a franchise-best 13-3 season -- could 2010 match it or top it??? We'll find out soon enough...

I dont think praying will need to be involved this year with THAT offensive line up. Teams already had trouble shutting Rice down. Im still in shock at just how AMAZING our offense will be this year. And as A Raven fan i've never thought Id say that in my LIFE.
