This guy had double ACL blowouts? Sweet jesus... I'd take Walker over this guy. Signing a CB that has blown out both his ACL's is like signing a WR that lost all his fingers in a freak accident.

Keep in mind Marlin Jackson is still young. And he's a big physical corner. I believe he had a huge interception against Tom Brady a few years ago?

You can never have enough corners and Jackson is young, a 1st round talent, and has size that the Ravens have always lacked at CB.

I do like the fact that he has made big plays in big games as well.

If he is here for a small deal, I would be on board for it.

I really hope this happens but if not there are still tons of talent of the market who can come in and play the same role of Jackson would for about the same price

other CBs i want us to look at:
Roderick Hood - lots of experience, and played under Harbaugh w/ the eagles
Ellis hobbs - starting experience knows Dan peas system and verbiage, rfa though, not sure on his tender or if he did
Ken Lucas - experienced and would be a good mentor to some of the young guys, physcial player
Lito Sheppard - experience, could be cheap

(I know I am going to get some bad rep w/ this, but whatever)

If we sign Marlin Jackson, we should rename our team to the Baltimore Torn ACLs

Now that I think about it, there are a lot of holes on this team. DL is the biggest, CB is probably 2nd or 3rd. I'd go with someone other than Jackson just because signing someone with two torn ACLs is called taking a chance. My hope and guess for signing a CB veteran would be Lito Sheppard. He'd do well in our system I think.

2 torn ACLs? that is a lot to come back from and be productive. should we have gone after Dunta Robinson?

Marlin Jackson is coming to the Ravens for a few reasons. First, he brings versatility. He played safety in college and is known for his tackling, his physicality is a trait the Ravens value. We are a little thin at safety with Haruki's ACL injury last year, although we have a couple young guys like Paschal and Fitzhugh, who we signed mid year, but I'm not sure if they received more than 1-year deals. I like bringing him in for some depth now, he is another low risk, because he'll come relatively cheap, high reward, because his is tough, young, and versatile, move by the Ravens. I wouldn't be surprised if we also addressed the position through the draft, because Webb's injury shouldn't be taken lightly.

thought Haruki broke his ankle? And i agree with you, Jackson is a low risk high reward type of player that comes cheap. I like the thought of grabbing him. I can see one of two things happeneing, either he atleast fills in as good depth, or he turns out to be even better than that.... considering he was a 1st round pick and plays well when hes not injured.

Robinson would have cost way too much.

Oh... and on Carr.... he played extremely admirably at the end of the year. It was like he woke up one day... i enjoyed watching him step up.

Are the Ravens going to at least look into any of these other options?

I know Hood got a look from the Bears last season but was released pretty quickly.

I'm sure they'll look into other options but the players on the market really aren't much better than the CBs already on the roster.

I've said it before but I'd rather see a rookie CB start who has a legitimate future with the team than a a below-average band-aid.

If he checks out medically, he could be a nice pick-up, depth-wise. Not to mention he knows the Indy D ;)

Yeah I am glad we did not go after him.

If we can get Jackson for a decent price (we may not be able to), then I still want to draft another young corner.

I really like Amari Spievey out of Iowa.

Our CB's opening day would then be...

CB1 - Foxworth, Washington, Carr

CB2 - Jackson, Spievey

Then Webb could come back Week 9 and regain his starting role and we'd be pretty stacked at CB IMO.

Mort just reported that he has agreed to terms with the Eagles via twitter.

"Eagles & Marlin Jackson agree to terms, according to team."

Yep, confirmed: @Adam_Schefter "Filed to ESPN: Eagles agreed to a two-year deal with free-agent DB and former Indianapolis Colt Marlin Jackson."

Aight, so back to square one...

In a way, I'm okay with this. What we really don't need is another DB with knee issues. We need a young, healthy, lad.

the guy i want us to look at now is Rod Hood..would be cheap, has experience, relatively young and can play most schemes and has played under Harbs before..bring him in!

I'm happy he signed with someone else. I'd rather wait and get some CB's in the draft.
[/quote]

Man, we're going to need some CBs cause AFC North is heating up with WR arms race.
