Marlin Jackson

Solid move to add depth and insurance to the corner backs. Mid-season our starters will be Foxworth and Webb, but to start its a good idea to sign a vet. Nothing flashy. I get the feeling the Ravens really like their corners and aren't seeing the position as needy as most on this board.

He's a good corner but has torn both of his ACLs. If he's fully healed and comes cheap, he'd make a good band-aid till Webb is ready.

Beat me to it >.<

"Former Colts CB Marlin Jackson is scheduled to visit the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday."

I personally don't know what to think of this. A cover 2 corner adjusting to a different scheme.

He could turn out to be Jason David (got torched a lot in NO) or Jabari Greer (Played exceptionally well last year)

Here's a ProFootballWeekly scouting report:

"Jackson, a tall, physical zone corner, has been limited to just 11 games the past two seasons because of injuries, and he missed the majority of the '09 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The Colts are expected to re-sign him, but his durability looms as a concern."

Like RoflDogs said, considering he's been a zone CB his entire NFL career, I'm not sure how he would it in to this team if he's signed.

Carr is still under contract.

You're probably right about Jackon being insurance.

Yep. The market is pretty thin on talent but a working out a few guys wouldn't hurt.

Q: do yall still think were goin to draft a corner
Yes. You can never have too many cornerbacks and WRs, especially in November and December when injuries become more prevalent. Those two positions are hit the hardest with injuries every year for every team. Linemen on both sides of the ball get hurt a lot too, but many of them find a way to play through pain.

If he comes for cheap, which he most likely will due to the multiple ACL tears, I'm all for it.

Marlin Jackson is coming to the Ravens for a few reasons. First, he brings versatility. He played safety in college and is known for his tackling, his physicality is a trait the Ravens value. We are a little thin at safety with Haruki's ACL injury last year, although we have a couple young guys like Paschal and Fitzhugh, who we signed mid year, but I'm not sure if they received more than 1-year deals. I like bringing him in for some depth now, he is another low risk, because he'll come relatively cheap, high reward, because his is tough, young, and versatile, move by the Ravens. I wouldn't be surprised if we also addressed the position through the draft, because Webb's injury shouldn't be taken lightly.

Walker is a UFA, so technically he is not on the team.

We will still probably draft a CB in later rounds or maybe the 2nd or 3rd if we trade down (AOA).

Good corner and great band-aid. Would help us a lot

ACL tears take time to recover. And I don't mean a whole offseason, I mean a whole offseason plus about the first quarter of the next season for one to be entirely healthy again. Sometimes even longer.

Given that, if we're looking for someone to get playing time while Webb and Washington heal, this would be a bad signing because Jackson is on the same boat as them. Remember, Webb was unfortunate enough to tear his ACL right at the end of the year. He may not be ready to go week 1 of 2010.

But this may not be the case. As some of us have stated, we he may just end up bringing him in for depth.

Oh yeah, we still need one. Who else could we draft, this team is stacked up pretty well. We addressed the WR position, now it's time to start to look for CB, TE, DE and maybe FS. A lot of it depends on comebacks by Mason and Reed. I would hope we get Marlin Jackson, keep Carr and release Walker. I'm not worried about next season.
IN OZZIE WE TRUST. AMEN

Marlin jackson would be a pretty good addition..i also like leigh bodden..i would actually rather get him but wouldn't mind jackson..if we get either of the two..we could draft odrick from psu in the first who would be a solid addition to our defensive line and still draft a corner in the second or later rounds

Just because the Colts defense seems to always shut down the Ravens offense... doesn't mean they're actually good. Ravens just always shut themselves down when they play Indy for whatever reason.

I'd look elsewhere for some decent corners.

i like this move if is it a small deal money wise. Jackson is a big physical corner who could do very well here. The Ravens play more zone that most people think and i think with his size and hips he could be a very good press man corner like Al Harris. The injuries scare me but that all comes back to the price thing. I would be happy if we could sign him and then going into the draft all we would have to worry about is the pass rush as Jackson is great insurance until Webb and Washington are healthy.

1 - Foxy
2 - Jackson
3 - Webb
4 - Washington
5 - Carr

Very good depth there!

This guy isn't a star he has suffered some injuries early on... He might be a help to our special teams unit or a stand in when our other CBs are under the weather/injuries I really don't see this guy getting whole lot of play time unless he shows the coach something awesome on the field.
