I hate when these athletes talk about wanting "security." Does D-Mase not already have millions upon millions in the bank/invested somewhere? Give me a break. We offered him a 2-year deal. Take it or leave it.

Security? For what? How long has Mason been in the NFL? What kind of security do you need at the tail end of your career? :baltimore-ravens:

It just irritates me that he has to drag this out. If we get Mason back, we can focus on our defense in the draft and pick up a receiver in the later rounds, which would be huge for us. He needs to just hurry up and sign before the draft.

We need to get this resolved as quickly as possible. With the draft coming up, I'm hoping for us to have no distractions.

Yeah, April 22nd is going to be here before we know it (damn Thursday scheduling!!!) And we need to have our #2 man locked in!!

Then build the "D" back thru the draft and grab another WR in the later rounds that's hungry to push the others!

The way I see it is like this.
Boldin is 1A
Mason is 1B
Clayton because stats are similar, knows the o better 2A
Stallworth is 2B

This will be an unstoppable lineup.

I'd rather see Stallworth in the slot. He's quick and consistently picks up YACs.

Clayton can battle the rookie WR(s) and whoever else for the #4 spot.

To be honest some players like to go back to the team they started with and retire.
He maybe one of those players that want's to end his career with a team that drafted him.

I think Stallworth would be better off in the slot myself. I think right now the team just needs to let Clayton go and draft someone young that can help us and grow with Joe. We traded for Boldin, picked up Stallworth and we have Kelly Washington and Derrick Mason floating around in Free Agency. It seems Kelly Washington may not be on the team next year because I haven't heard anything about re-signing him at all and the main focus is on Mason. Just getting Mason back along with Boldin on the same team makes our offense 10x better than it has ever been. Come on Mason, the Front Office just made things a whole lot easier on you by getting Boldin and picking up Stallworth. I say just sign a new 2 year contract and come back, hey Ozzie go ahead and throw in an optional 3rd year just for the hell of it, going to Miami and New England won't get you a Super Bowl ring this season or the following season, Parcells is still building Miami into what he wants it to be, and the Patriots haven't been the same since 2007. The Ravens of this season is being put together to win now, and I like our chances better to reach Dallas than Miami & New England. Think of Dallas Mason, we beat them in their last home game at their old stadium, now think how cool it would be if we can get you that 1st Super Bowl ring in their new Stadium.

I'd like to see Clayton gone too but the team appears set on keeping him. As long as he's 4th on the depth chart, I'm fine with that.

I agree with everything else you said.

I'm all for keeping Clayton. The guy has shown glimpses of having the "it factor" and knows our scheme and playbook well. Right now he can't be relied on to keep a starting job on the outside but i think we all agree that he could become a terrific slot receiver. Clayton is still young and has room to grow into a better WR and taking a backseat to some of these veterans could be the move to kick start this. Even if he is nothing more than a back-up guy, wouldn't that be better then what we have now?

I like the thought of clayton being a backup/#4

Agreed. Clayton is a pine rider.

Hey guys, in my opinion simply put. Baltimore is a blue collar town, and its team is an exact replica of this. To me, that alone makes me proud. This team is unique in that it has a personality, and this personality has not changed since 1996. Our mentality is, and has been " sound the horn, and lets have a physical slugfest on the field, and at the end see who's standing".

Typically we're standing, bloody, bruised, and proud. We stand regardless if we have the most "high priced talent", we stand because we have the most heart.

Mase, as well as Boldin, as well as all of our "stars" fit this mold. This sets us apart. Keep Mase, and lets inflict our will. This is our year. Lets not only build on talent, but character too. This is why our draft picks typically shine, and end up as pro bowlers, and even H.O.F'ers. We have personality. Mase carries this well, and that should not go unseen.

Bring him back, and lets win this thing. Remember, "play like a Raven". Mason embodies this statement. The man played with a partially separated shoulder. We owe him, and we should let him retire a proud Raven.

hey i agree totally. Mason is one tough dude, and he plays his heart out. Hes been one of just a handful of players on offense that has kept us in the playoffs. I want him back, the team wants him back, he will play a key role in a superbowl run. Even dispite the few things he has done negatively since the loss to the colts in the playoffs the other year, I love Mason. Thing is tho, we offered him a contract, we gave him an opportunity to come back even before we signed boldin. He wanted to test free agency, which is fine, ray did the same last year. Unfortunately for him, he didnt get much interest, and now Ozzies mentality is, (cause ultimately its business), lets get through the draft, see whats available, and go from there and see what we can allocate to masons contract after that. He deserves to be here, deserves to retire here, and he deserves what he wants IMO. But he shouldnt try to strong arm our team either (like favre does every year no matter what team hes on). I really hope he comes back, and i hope he gets what he wants as long as its fair. .... Again, Mason is a great player, and hes played his heart out for us, and suffered through alot of pain just to keep us moving. I hope regardless of what goes on in the draft... i hope hes able to come back. We have other pressing needs tho... defensive line, CB, TE, LB

Having Mason as the opposite receiver of Boldin is critical. Stallworth is and should be used as a #3 WR.

Good point and also leading up to the draft, the Bengals might play a bigger role in our pick as some might seem to believe. Lock down corner, vs. TE, or WR, call it!! Thursday night? No, another Saturday tradation, kicked in the, well, by the Rog. Come on man, go to the table and give us 2011, aka, CBA!!

I really think we shoould keep mason, he is a great player and also a leader on our offense. Even though we have Boldin now, we still need Mason. While teams are keeping thier eyes on Boldin guess who they wont be watching our former #1 reciever Mason. With Mason Boldin and Stallworth i see our team finally with an offense

Its a no brainer that we need to keep Mason i say give him a 2 year contract. the guy is tough he personaly has carried the ravens WR's for years. Put him next to Boldin Stallworth at # 3 and you got a guys that can spread the Defense and allow that one two punch. And keep in mind mason has been with Flacco from the beginning so mason has the chemmistry already boldwin needs to develop it. Draft a wide reciever and have him learning from Boldwin and Mason and when masons contracts up instant starter.

we defently need to bring Mason back next year for the simple fact that hes got some seniority not only with our team but in the league and with a guy like Bolden whos know to have an attitude problem and Stallwotrh whos been out of the league for some time we will defently need Mason to return and take on a leadership role with out new reciever corps. BRING MASON BACK!

A camera catches him arguing with his OC and he has an attitude problem? Please...

Almost every article about him mentions his leadership qualities. The night he was became a Raven, I heard John Clayton say on the radio he's a "master" at making those around him better.

I highly doubt Boldin will clash with the players on this team.
