Ok We Have Boldin Now

25 posts in this topic

ok we have bolding, great right ? We have zero talent at corner. Reed may not be back. Bannan is gone. We overpaid Suggs if last year is any indicator of how much he wants to prepare to be ready for a season (show up at training camp). I hate to say it but we need to go all out Defense in the draft. Hope Webb can fill Reeds shoes which i think he can. I thought for sure Peppers would be here but i was way off.

We need to drop Washington and Carr and grab some decent replacements

0 Talent at CB? Um, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Foxworth: He started the season horribly, by the end of the season he was shutting down receivers, especially his last 3 games (he dominated).

Washington: He'll eventually lose his job to Webb, but he's a player that we need to keep.

Carr: I don't know what happened to Carr but he woke up one day, realized he was in the NFL and lit up the end of the season. He stepped up when he needed to and played decent corner, especially in the playoffs. Is he a starter? No. But he's one hell of a backup.

Webb: He probably won't be back until week 4-6, and don't expect him to see a lot of field time. He needs to take it easy on his knee and get back to playing shape. He will eventually be the starting corner for us.

Walker: He either shows flashes of brilliance or he plays like a moron. Too much risk- goodbye.

thats what bothers me.A lot of guys played strong at the end of the season when we could have beaten the vikings, patriots etc early on and possibly could have grabbed a week 1 bye.

i just do not want what we half early in raven history. A offense that puts up 400 yards but a defense that can be scored on fron anywhere on the field.

First of all, Reed IS coming back. Second, he is a FS. Ladarious Webb is a CB, Webb won't be stepping in for Reed when he retires. That would be Tom Zibikowski's job, and he is very good.

Suggs works just as hard as anybody, but incase you've forgotten...He was HURT. Another thing is, who has Suggs had on the other DE to take pressure off of him?

You are completely off base on the CB issue as well. Ladarious Webb looks like he can develop into something special, Foxworth was playing like a #1 CB by the end of the season and into the Playoffs. Fabian Washington was the only CB on our roster that wasn't a liability in the first few weeks and you want to get rid of him? wow.

Bannan is gone because another team overpaid for him. He's a pretty good backup, but not a starter. We have PLENTY of depth on the Dline.

As for Peppers, you DO realize that eventually there WILL be a salary cap again right? Also, we still have our 1st and 2nd round picks to adress the "need" for a CB, and the need for a pass rusher.

You DO realize that we faced all of the best offenses in the League last season, with exception to New Orleans. To think that this defense will be anywhere near as bad as the early Raven defenses is a bit of a stretch. The Ravens defense finished 3rd overall, and they were somewhere in the top 10 in pass defense as well.

RELAX, it's not as bad as you think.

I have to say, I wouldn't mind Tom eventually filling in for Reed. Especially since he's the only Raven I can see in my area. He has a camp that is down the street every summer, lol. In all seriousness, he did play pretty well in Reed's absence.

If Webb was healthy, I'd feel OKAY about our corner position. And as long as he doesn't have to tackle... I like Fabian Washington. The rest of the guys though I would not miss one bit. I'm sure the Ravens will be addressing corner in the draft. And if Dawan Landry ends up leaving, they'll most likely be addressing safety this year as opposed to next year. If Reed doesn't come back... I believe Darren Sharper is still available!

And please, stop blaming Suggs because you don't see "the numbers" on the stat sheet you wanted to. You have to actually watch the games to see what he brings to the table. If the rest of the d-line shows up(aging Pryce, Gregg) then Suggs numbers will go up because they won't get to focus solely on him.

I mean, you could look at ANY part of the defense as say they "dropped off," last year... but that's what happens when you lose Rex Ryan. Let's see if Mattison does better in his 2nd year.

I wouldnt say we have 0 talent anywhere, or that there are HUGE holes to fill. We need a DE and a CB. Should have too much problem finding some quality ones early and then a late pick on a project WR.

Yeah now that we have the WR situation fixed, I think that ozzie will either go D or BPA in the first round. We need help on the D-line, in the secondary, and a LB considering Ray isn't getting any younger.

I dont say we have 0 talent we our CBs arent that good.

Webb - i love this guy, he will be a great corner eventually, until then, #2
foxworth - he is a good #2
washington - back up material.
Carr- we got him for ST for a reason.
Walker - cut him now. i have never gotten so angry watching incomplete passes turn into penalties

How long has it been since Free Agency started? Yesterday? Oh, I can understand why someone is upset that Ozzie has filled all of our holes in 24 hours. :34853_shakehead:

We ran a new defense that in the end worked but took time. By the end of the year the defense was great, hats off to matty. Only prob I see is trying to get a push with pryce and gregg. If a terrence cody falls to us he would help alot inside.

Ray was a 1st team All Pro LB this year. Even if he falls off(i highly doubt happens), he becomes what, a top 5 LB in the AFC?

I'm saying we need to go DE in the draft. No doubt about it, Pryce is really old and we have no one really in his place. Edwards is probably going to leave too..

You forget we still have plenty of time to make moves, as well as the NFL draft. You can start freaking out after the draft, not before when Ozzie and Co. are still plotting.

This is what i believe

1. Walker, truly i hate him. But i did clap for him a few times during the final games. But he is a goner.

2. Foxworth, He will progress this year, no worries there guys. He just needed some time to get comfortable. He won't be a GREAT corner, but he will suffice for now.

3. Fabian, If he had hands he would be great. He can't catch a ball to save his life. He is quick, not as strong as you would like a CB to be, but his quickness makes up for it. Just put some damn glue on his hands or something

4. Carr, Decent backup, proved himself at the end of the season. Wish we still had Leonard though. I am actually growing scared of the jets D.

5. Webb, He will be back by week 1, no worries fellas. He will be our second starter. He will be great.

6. I believe we should still draft a CB at some point during the draft just to add depth. Depth is always nice to have.

7. We need to draft a pass rusher also, i believe that should be our first round pick. We have Boldin now, no point in getting some BS WR in the first round and have him become a bust. AKA clayton. Stallworth, Boldin, Hopefully Mason, and then draft a Low round WR or pick up a lower quality WR in free agency.

8. Pass rusher is our #1 priority now.

Personally, I thought he was playing like garbage. Couldn't cover anyone and couldn't tackle anyone

Agreed, Washington was by far and away the worst corner on the field.

I disagree, you think he was worse then Walker and Carr? I think that he was more consistent then most of our corners this year.

It's no doubt we need some improvement at corner but I have faith in Newsome's ability to work his magic in the off-season.I think our corners did good once they remembered they were playing football. You gotta reaize we lost 2 awesome corners in McCallister with his hands and coverage skills and Rolle with his wisdom of the game to be in the right place at the right time.Talent of that level takes more than a year to replace...We'll be alright!
