Browns Game

In light of Derek Anderson's 4 INT performance against the hapless Bungles yesterday, it's time for Brady Quinn to get the starting job. And also, Romeo Crennel should be fired for not realizing this sooner.

If by a brick, you mean comedic gold, then you're right. I thought you people (i.e. Brits) appreciate dry humor.

Haha right? That's what people all over the message board have been saying which is why I *never* post on there. Let's completely forget what Anderson has done all year and how good we have been *unexpectedly* and just put in Quinn. I really just laugh when I watch people write on websites that it's Quinn time. We go 9-6, win a TON more games than anyone thought we would.. stand a good chance to win 10 and while yes, we blew our playoff chance.. still had a GREAT year and all you read is the following:

1.) Derek Anderson sucks.

2.) Start Brady Quinn.

It really is hilarious. Some people just don't get it. I do appreciate the humorous post however. =]

It was definitely a meltdown that is for sure! And thanks for the text messages. :P

It's all good as I've said, I'm still happy for how well this team has done and all I can hope is they learn from their mistakes and do better in the future.

i think that it was just one of those "fluke" type of games in which nothing seemed to go right as compared to their previous weeks/experiences.....i feel as though they will work hard to get things back on track and better themselves in teh long run for the home stretch but ultimately faultering at some point.

I think the Browns are a fluke. They have an incredibly soft schedule. No defense and too many close wins. Next year, people will declare them early AFC North favorites, and it will blow up in their face.

I'm sick of hearing about how Derek Anderson and Jamal Lewis were the biggest pro bowl snubs. Really? Derek Anderson has so many weapons on that team it's ridiculous. I don't know why he gets credit for being able to throw really high balls to really tall receivers. And he's probably playing behind the third best offensive line. Ditto for Jamal Lewis, and he hasn't done that much. Roethlisberger definitely deserved the third spot.

Sorry Brownsfan.

But, people tried to make the same argument for the Ravens' 13-3 success last season, that they had a soft schedule.

But that's what parity is about in the NFL -- winning the games you should win, and well, just plain WINNING, period.

Though, I can agree that Jamal Lewis was NOT a Pro Bowl snubs. Touchdowns or not, note that he got most of his TD's in short-yardage situations. He only had two truly GOOD games this season I believe (against the Bengals and Bills), and his stats are misleading.

It's one thing to watch a struggling LaDainian Tomlinson run, because you KNOW when he's doing well. But to watch Jamal Lewis run is torture, because he gets shut down at the line more often than not. Though Lewis is breaking off far more long runs than last season with the Ravens, I don't get the sense that I'm really watching the Jamal Lewis of old, despite what the analysts may say. That's why I feel better having gotten Willis McGahee, as he was the ONLY shining light on offense this season for the Ravens, and played well DESPITE having a poor run-blocking offensive line.

You could say whatever you want, but this team is much better than last year. Not division champs but to even win 9 or 10 games is a big improvement considering this team was considered one of the worst in the NFL.

After being the doormat of the AFC North for so long, this reversal of fortune was bound to happen since the Browns had shown signs of improvement for a while, but always had something catastrophic hold them back.

Whether or not they're a fluke remains to be seen. As far as a soft schedule yes, it was definitely lighter than others but is that our fault or problem? To a degree, we don't control who we play or where we play them. I thought we'd have at best 6 wins this season so the possibility of 10 is remarkable. While the defense has played better the past 6 weeks, they played so god awful the other 10 that they will remain last overall at the end of the year. They're a young defense and have shown improvement and stepped up for the most part in key situations. Hopefully that'll improve through the draft/free agency.

As far as Jamal Lewis being a pro bowl snub, I personally haven't heard anyone say that but I would not say he is having a pro bowl season at all. He's having a great season for us and is proving he has stuff left in the tank to be a productive RB in the NFL yes but pro bowl? Nah, I wouldn't even put him near that category for this season. As far as Anderson, he's having a solid year and IMO, if there were 4 QB spots then he'd be the 4th. Big Ben ultimately deserved the 3rd spot so I don't have any complaints there.

I'm curious as to your comments about those guys not doing that much.. do you think because he is just simply a "product of the system" in a sense that diminishes what he's done? His 28 TDs effectively mean nothing or significantly less because the OL is playing so well? Are you also one of those that thinks Tom Brady is overrated too because he is a "system QB?"

I agree 100% that it's not about who you play or the schedule or whatever else.. the bottom line is victories.

With regards to Lewis, most of his TD runs have been short-yardage and he's had some subpar games. I think most of his recognition right now is coming from the past 5 weeks because in those past 5 games he has really turned it on and showed up for us big time. I still wish we'd utilize Jason Wright more in the running game but so long as Lewis is producing well, I won't complain.

All I can say is I'm just happy to see a winning team for the first time in 5 years! To win 10 games this year would be an incredible accomplishment. A potential 4,000 yard passing QB, possibly 30 TDs, 2 1,000 yard receivers (one of whom has 15 TDs) and a solid #3 WR in Jurevicus.. plus Lewis nearing 1,200 yards is an offensive season that has been great to see. Whether or not we make the playoffs remains to be seen and odds are we'll be ousted in the 1st round if we make it but even with that being said, I've had a lot of fun this season watching my team perform.

It is definitely nice not having 4-5 wins again. And no that wasn't a shot at you all just what we've had the past couple of years. =]
