It's Official: Ravens Trade for WR Anquan Boldin

58 posts in this topic

im so glad that Boldin is a raven, but we still have issue's at the reciever position. Stallworth and Boldin are only part of the equation. I thikn we need to draft a rookie reciever this year, but Flacco needs targets, Boldina dn Stallworth are great targets, but we need some youth to this offense, sure there Harper and Riley, but someone like Williams or Gilyard could be drafted in the 2nd round and they'd be perfect. A + B + C(?) = stronger offense

Nah, let's see what we have with Harper, Riley, and Smith. We dont need to draft any WRs in the first two rounds this year. Theres no really "whoa" person out there. Rather draft defense so that, you know, we can be a balanced team....

We will have to draft a WR in the first 2 rounds if Mason, or no one to replace is brought here through FA.

I'd rather not go WR in the early rounds, but we would have no choice if there isn't a good #2 with our team.

While I would certainly like to see the team go D in the 1st two rounds, I wouldn't blame them if they drafted a WR or TE in either round.

Every time I start thinking that Ozzie can no longer surprise us, he goes ahead and slaps us in the face with something like this. I cannot WAIT for next year.

The bargain rate and shrewdness of the deal almost completely vindicates Ozzie Newsome for his perceived missteps in the pursuit of Brandon Marshall less than 24 hours earlier.

Not only was Boldin acquired at little cost to the Ravens, but Ozzie was also able to get the Cardinals to package a draft pick with Boldin and an affordable contract extension was agreed upon immediately thereafter.

In Ozzie We Trust.

In Ozzie We Trust, is right. Spectacular move. Everybody in Purple Nation got reason to be pumped-up, I know I'm.
Boldin is the perfect fit for this offense, without a doubt. Now, it would be nice if we could bring Mason back,
get a good corner and draft few rookies. What number is Boldin gonna have? #81 is Marcus Smith, right?

The team may just force Smith to give up his #81 jersey like James Hardy did when T.O. went to the Bills.

Stretch the field so Rice can run FREEEEEEEEEE!
I don't know, alot of those big runs last season were when they stacked everyone close to the line, and by the time they spotted rice emerging from the hole, they were S.O.L.

I just wanted to add again, mark my words, Anquan will be in the top 3 in receiving next year! You people who are saying that you gave up too much have obviously never seen Q play! Its just crazy to hear people say a 3rd and 4th rounder is too much for a man that will single handily win you ball games, and trust me he will! The man can do it all, he is a former QB so hes perfect for a wildcat or can line up at RB. Again I'm just trying to let those who don't know about Anquan Boldin know how much this man will affect your team. He is such a damn stud who will shred every opponents defense. Have fun, enjoy, and appreciate this gift that the Arizona Cardinals sent you all once again!

HELL YEAH BABY!!!...When I found out about Boldin becoming a Raven.I couldn't believe it.The magnitude of this acquisition still didn't fully sink in.I can't wait to see him in a Ravens uniform...I think Joe Flacco is going to have the season we all have been knowing he's capable of having. He's gonna light defenses up.

Not if we don't get back Mason or a good Number 2 receiver he won't...teams will just double cover Boldin and then Flacco would only have Clayton or Stallworth to throw to, who are not formidable #2 receivers.

teams/opponents that now have to face us, (especially within our division) now have to game plan for not only trying to stop the run and rice out of the backfield but also a heavy dose of playmakers along the outside, now that we have Boldin and Stallworth, with Heap manning the middle of the field, with the possibility of Mason and a potential first round reciever....all running along the outside and throughout the middle...

Giving Flacco a wide range of recievers/options to throw to, spreading out the defense a lil bit more (if not alot) and causing defenses to double take on certain players and really expand Cam's play making abilities....creativity is a virtue that Cam has expressed throughout his time being here...

so bottom line is...defenses now will have to respect our passing game a little more this year more than now that our passing attack is being a little more than a "passive attack" than previous years, due to our recent additions of play making speedsters.....this is the year that we really establish ourselves as threats along the outside, and either way you look at it....whether the game plan is gameplanning against our new threat recievers OR our 3 headed monster of a rushing attack....

so its offical....our offense is getting to the point of being multi threats....

So this year Ozzy is treating us to an early christmas. We get a top notch wideout, add Dante Stallworth, which I beleive can be a huge threat if we choose to re sign Mason. Even if we dont his speed can make him a great downfield threat while Anquan is roaming the middle, using his size to make a play after the catch. Now we sign Marlin Jackson to add some depth to our corner position or maybe a new nose tackle, Jamal Williams is in the market and has played a 3-4 in san diego. It'd be nice for Haloti Trevor and Jamal to be one of the biggest defensive lines, making things more interesting for our blitzing packages.

Anquan Boldin on becoming a Baltimore Raven:

“I’m definitely excited. For me, I’ve been hoping for this for a year since I first heard that the Ravens might be interested in me. I even talked with Ray [Lewis] about it a year ago. I really look at this as a great opportunity for me. They love football in Baltimore. I know that from when the Cardinals played there a few years ago. That place was loud, very impressive by the fans. The Ravens play a certain way. They play as hard and as physical as any team in the league, and I want to add to that. I think I play the way they play.

“I’m a piece of the puzzle for them. They have a great group of guys over there. They can run the ball behind a very good line with three running backs as good as anyone’s. The young quarterback, Joe Flacco, has already made his mark – two playoff teams in two years. That’s obviously pretty good. And, that defense… Everyone knows what they bring to every game. I’m just happy to be going to a team that has a lot going for it. I believe I can help them, maybe get them to another level. I think I’ll fit in with them. It’s going to be a lot of fun being a Raven.”

Thats what I'm talking about sign good players that want to play here !!! Classy football player :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

lol, Marcus Smith got the BOOT. Normally the roster on the team website shows the new acquisitions with no number until they pick one, i.e. Cromartie with the Jets....In this case Boldin is already on there as 81 and Smith is numberless. Obviously everyone knew Boldin would get his number, I just think its funny that Smith is the one now listed with no number :229031_rofl:
