That sounds familiar...

"You can have false accusations once, maybe twice. When you start getting to multiple (arrests), you're putting yourself in the wrong position, you're making the wrong decisions in the wrong places. At that point in time, you're reflecting poorly on the NFL itself, your teammates." - Roger Goodell

Doesn't count if you're an NFL icon.

I guess this could really mess up Pittsburghs draft board. Kind of sad really but, then he should be smarter than that. Guilty or not, the court of public opion is already deliberating. Ben, the next time you ride your cycle, try wearing a helmet, could'nt hurt.

Maybe the NFL should have checked out that concussion from that motorcycle accident he had a few years back, could have done more damage than we thought.

I've got really mixed feelings again...

but innocent until proven guilty regardless of the court of public opinion.

My guess is nothing will come of this. He'll pay the 1st and 2nd woman money to disappear.

NOW, if there's a 3rd case of sexual assault against women... the NFL will intervene.

the first time i was on bens side but this time im not so sure. if things like this keep happening ur either guilty or u just like drama. look at OJ his guilt drove him over the edge with some help from the public of course lol.

I'm sure most of you remember the Raven's Hard Knocks series from HBO. Billick actually had a speaker come in and talk with the players about the importance of not putting yourself in situations that could end up like this. I'm not saying that Ben is guilty or innocent, but to have TWO accusations pop up in less than a year isn't good at all.

You're right, especially about NFL intervention after a third case. Celebrity status aside, it's a bit too convenient for the same player to face allegations more than once in such a short span. The Tiger Woods scandal is one thing, as I don't believe Woods actually was involved with half the women who publicly claimed to have been with him and subsequently went to the tabloids. But in the case of Roethlisberger, if a third and fourth accusation comes to light and these cases keep getting settled out of court, it gets to be a bit fishier.

That fishiness could go either way though, it could mean that Ben is actually some type of predator (which I personally have a hard time buying in to), or that other women who've been with him see their chances of successful exploitation going up by adding to the number of cases alleged against him.

I'm on the fence, and will just wait to see if any provable facts come from these investigations.

This new incident could be used as evidence in the Nevada case from last year.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/07/lawyer-for-roethlisbergers-nevada-accuser-will-monitor-new-case-closely/
...Even though anything Roethlisberger did or didn't do in Georgia or anywhere else doesn't change what did or didn't occur in Nevada, the new incident could be used to help convince a jury that the plaintiff in the Nevada case is telling the truth...

Innocent until proven guilty. I want to let the investigation play itself out and see where this all goes. In this day and age of big money and fast living, anything goes. Sad if it's true, yet not hard to believe, a symptom of the times in which we live.

The part that piqued my interest was that the girl didn't wait...
That part got my interest too. Women who are out to screw over celebrities will wait a while, get their ducks in a row, talk with a lawyer, have witnesses lined up... then boom.

This woman did not waste any time. She was in the hospital and visiting police ASAP. I hate to say it... but this one LOOKS credible.

And what's really scary for Ben... Nevada can use this most recent "sexual misconduct" as admissible in the case to sway jurors (of a character pattern) against Ben for the first sexual assault he has against him still.

ON A SIDE NOTE: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/08/roethlisberger-hires-lawyer-who-defended-ray-lewis/?related=1

Roethlisberger hired the same lawyer that defended Ray.

They were talking about it on the radio a bit ago... apparently at the hospital she was hysterical, sobbing uncontrollably and continued crying for hours on end. Gave matching accounts to the physicians and police- people at the bar were interviewed and all gave the exact same accounts as the woman did. ON TOP of all that, Ben was aggressively pursuing women at the bar before the alleged sexual assault and even tried to forcibly kiss one of the women who was talking to him (based on numerous matching stories by those at the bar that evening).

Not looking good :o

His actions must violate the personal conduct policy... if these allegations prove true, which they seem to be, I hope the NFL comes down hard (or as hard as allowed).

If it proves true the NFL will suspend him "indefinitely" (aka until a ruling for the trial), the Steelers will release him before you can blink your eyes... and if he serves jail time... his career will be over.

We can forgive people who abuse animals, kill pedestrians who are jaywalking, etc, etc, etc... but one thing people will NOT forgive is rape/putting your hands on a woman/forcing someone in to a sexual situation.

The Steelers wouldn't release Ben unless he got serious jail-time, which isn't going to happen, but a year-long suspension would be warranted if it's proven he did assault this young woman.

Ben just hired the same lawyer Ray Lewis used when charged with murder in Atlanta today. Just reported on ESPN.

These allegations must be really serious...

P.S. The Steelers' fans have zero room to talk about us being a team full of "thugs"

The report ESPN gave today. I will only state was was said on ESPN and not twist anything to make an opinion.

ESPN stated that police did release information today.

There is no question an assault took place on the young lady. It was also confirmed by doctors. Their investigation was not based on if an assault took place but by who.

The young lady gave statements to the doctors and later gave statements to police. It was reported it took time for police to get statements because the young lady was very upset however her statements were identical both times.

Witnesses in the club have been interviewed. These are people who did not know the young lady and their stories are matching hers as to events that occured in the club.

It was also reported that Ben tried to force another lady in the same bar to kiss him. They did not give other details to the extent or if she was able to walk away or received assistance to get away. It was only stated he did try to force another lady to kiss him.

Wasn't Vick suspended as soon as he was indicted?

I saw this report on MASN. I turned on the TV to see the Ravens Press Conference for Anquan. It was on around 2:30 when they gave the report on Ben.

^ Wherever it came from, it's interesting. Police are usually a bit more tightlipped.

Chicken Little has arrived:
"If you're running the Pittsburgh Steelers, you need to do a couple of things, and you need to do them fast. First, even with the judicial system still trying to determine fact from fiction in Roethlisberger's latest mess, you need to pull the guy aside, tell him to enter a closet at Heinz Field and order him not to leave until further notice. Second, you need to start looking for another quarterback -- you know, just in case, or in an attempt to scare Roethlisberger back into reality."
http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/03/07/big-ben-is-officially-brain-dead/?icid=main|htmlws-main-n|dl4|link1|http%3A%2F%2Fnfl.fanhouse.com%2F2010%2F03%2F07%2Fbig-ben-is-officially-brain-dead%2F

After I saw that, it reminded me of an article that I read on PFT back during that whole concussion, Hines whines, Dixon starts, Ravens win thing was going on.

"...What if the goal, however, is to groom Dixon to take over for Ben Roethlisberger? Coach Mike Tomlin likely won't be leaving before Ben's career ends, unless Tomlin decides (like Bill Cowher apparently did) that he wants the kind of market deal the Rooneys never will offer.

... It's not all that ridiculous to consider the possibility that Tomlin might at least toy with the notion of ultimately picking Dixon over Roethsliberger.

Tomlin drafted Dixon; he inherited Roethlisberger. Already, the tailback Tomlin picked in 2008 -- Rashard Mendenhall -- has supplanted Willie Parker, one of the stars of Super Bowl XL.

We're not saying it will happen. But we're thinking that maybe it could.
