Brandon Manumaleuna

Apparently the Ravens are showing a lot of interest in this TE out of San Diego. I, personally, who love for them to sign him as a blocking TE, and to take the blocking duties of Heap and just have Heap as a receiving TE. Another thing is Cam Cameron and Manumaleuna are familiar with each because they together in San Diego. I think its a great fit if it goes down.
The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly interested in tight end Brandon Manumaleuna, who is about to become an unrestricted free agent.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens want Manumaleuna to be their blocking tight end, and that Manumaleuna's relationship with Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, who coached Manumaleuna in San Diego, makes it a good fit.

Manumaleuna is also expected to draw interest from the Chicago Bears, where he'd be reunited with his old coach in St. Louis, current Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

Technically, it's against the rules for either the Ravens or the Bears to signal their interest in Manumaleuna before midnight. But since teams tamper and get away with it all the time, it would be foolish for either the Ravens or Bears to hide their interest in Manumaleuna and potentially give the other team a head start in wooing him.

Manumaleuna played the last four seasons for the Chargers after playing the previous five for the Rams.
He would be a good signing as he'd relieve Heap of his blocking duties and keep him fresher. Even still, the Ravens will have to draft a TE this year for the long-term.

This is the second or third time that I have heard about this scenario this off-season and the more I hear it the more it makes sense. I'm not sure how much more Todd Heap has in him but pulling his blocking duties could only help you would think, and Manumaleuna seems to be quite the beast when it comes to blocking. He reminds me of the TE version of Lorenzo Neal.

I think if will sign Manumaleuna this year and get McCoy or Pitta in the draft we'll have taken a few steps in the right direction towards solving the TE issue. And doing that is much safer than trying to draft a TE in the early rounds.

Good point. Even though he didn't have a big Combine, I'm big on McCoy. He has prototypical size, is a good athlete and can block. Pitta is a quality TE too.

Manumaleuna is reported as taking a trip to Chicago, meaning that the Ravens likely won't have a shot at him unless the Bears' sales pitch fails. The Bears have been on their grind tonight. (LINK)

Damn, and they also want Chester Taylor??? Since when did Dan Snyder take over the Bears.... and from what Adam said on ESPN the Skins are going to be QUIET this off-season and not make a big splash in signing the big free agent. So the Bears are going all out and the Redskins are being calm? Ok what is going on???

Not that he's some fantastic talent, I hope the Ravens didn't actually want him. It seems like they are NOT a team to actually reach out to players. They go for players that "fall" to them. Sometimes, I dont get it but I guess we'll see if this works for the future. We alwyas seem to get the guys that very few teams are interested in.
