Troy did great, all things considered he kept battling -- the O line stank up the joint -- NO pass protection, and NO run blocking. Tom Brady would have had to scratch his head in frustration after this one.

The O line coach shows me nothing this year. If we want to make a change, make one there.

Well,

I don't think he did very well. I know he can do better. In his defense, he had a couple of well thrown balls dropped, but he hurried a couple, and made a couple of bad throws. I may be a little too critical though. He had absolutely NO pocket time at all, and was running or his life on many occasions. The play where he fumbled, the O-line actually disolved like Sweet-n-low in iced tea.

Another pet peave of mine is NOT having any answer for the blitz. For crying out loud, (or as I like to say, "for F#@$ sake") you KNOW they're going to "blitz the rookie" on 3rd and long. Who on this board did NOT expect a 3rd down blitz???? Yet, there was NEVER an answer for it. No quick slant or trap or draw. COME ON!!!!!! When the opponent sells out on a blitz, you BURN them. Of course, that does require that the play actually EXIST IN THE PLAYBOOK!!!!!!!

Our O-line didn't let Troy do anything.

Boller and McNair didn't get any help either. Now the difference is, you're mad because they didn't protect your favorite qb. If it were Boller playing today, everyone would have been bashing HIM, and not the O-LINE.

It looked remarkably like Boller's first game against Pittsburgh. Only time will tell how much Troy can develop at this level.

That is essentially the only thing that needs to be said.

Troy played like a champion.

The O LINE played like the rookies today!!!

End of story.

Not so. A rookie under that much duress will not have great numbers, but there were some good things that happened as well. I don't think everyone is playing favorites, the fans are a patient, and will likely hang with Troy for a few more games. Boller has had over a season to win the fans over and it hasn't happened. It's only fair we give Troy a little bit of time to improve.

Troy Smith had a rough outing, but showed that he was cool under pressure and much more mobile that McNair or Boller. That is sufficient reason to start him next week given the mediocre state of the Ravens' O-line. Smith can definitely stretch the field vertically, although Boller can as well. The edge goes to Smith based upon the fact the O-line can't protect the QB and Smith can run better than Boller.

No better or worst then any other rookie with a team like the ravens. All yea , no better then Boller his first time starting.

Boller won his first start.

And the WR's dropping some passes that hit them in the chest didn't help either.

I thought Troy did an excellent job considering. McGahee goes down, running game suffers. Sypniewski get injured (although no Todd Heap), but that even lessens the receiving corp. An offensive line that can't give the QB time to make any plays, and the #1 factor is that he did not throw an interception. He managed the game pretty well with a play calling that resembles very much like my son's high school football team. The fact that Troy, a 5th round draft pick outplayed Jamarcus Russell, the #1 draft pick at 6'5" is pretty amazing if you ask me.

I like Troy. He is poised, doesn't look rattled, and has the look of determination in his eyes. He has nothing to prove because the standards are not set as high as a #1 draft pick. If anything, I think Troy wants to prove to the media that height is irrelevant and it is usually what is in a players heart that brings out the best in players (i.e. Ray Lewis). Troy has heart and I like his demeanor.

Good job Troy. You did what you could and I didn't expect you to win the game, but what I did watch was how you protected the ball, how you threw to the receivers (who dropped balls that should have been caught), and managed the game as well as you could under a very hostile environment with key players missing from the team. Keep up the good work. Hold you head up high as you did as well as anyone could have expected.

I wouldn't be complaining about how bad Kyle is. I've been complaining about the O-line for most of the season. McGahee single handedly has all the yards. The O-line just isn't very consistent this year.

I disagree, there is a difference. The difference is McNair and Kyle could get used to the fact they didn't have time to throw the ball. They played many games under an O line that was sub par (Being nice there..). Whereas this is Troy's first start, that's why people seem to be giving him some slack. Have him start VS Pittsburgh next week so we can see more from him. I will admit things you don't always see when watching the screen (Due to close ups from QB's standpoint) is how open the receivers may be. Maybe some weren't getting open, so can't judge there.

troy smith is able to make plays to get those extra yards....to get first downs....thats the difference between troy smith and all the other qbs on our team

Uh...they had 1 first down before the 2 minute warning in the first half and only converted 4 of 15 3rd downs.

Troy did just as well if not better than Kyle Boller would have and he is a rookie making his first start, Kyle Boller is in his fifth season in the same offense. Give Troy some credit.

Credit was given but he did pretty much nothing as you would expect a rookie to do. You should give Kyle more credit, the game would have been a lot closer if he started.

I woulda bashed boller until I was blue in the face because it can't be disputed that he would have been sacked at least 6 times.

It was third and long almost every third down in the first half--other than when we were backed up billick ran the ball for no gain on 1st and 2nd and when seattle wasn't blitzing on 3rd n long they were busting through our o-line with 8 man back in pass protection...pathetic? When Mcgahee got knocked outa the game--the entire week of practice on the raven's "gameplan" went out the window.

How can you give Kyle any credit. 5 years is more than enough time to learn an offense and play decent football. It is time for people to give up on him. We saw what Steve McNair did when he was healthy last year.
