Mash Up

Ok so I was really bored today and decided i'd do a mix of Eminems Stan and Green Days Time of Your Life. Eminems dark lyrics with Stan and Green Day's sad tone with Time of Your Life almost fit perfect together. I didn't think the two fit well together. I don't really think "Time of Your Life" sounds sad, it really has more of a sense of longing or just some sort of nostalgia. It doesn't blend well with the dark and depressing mood of "Stan." Additionally, the vocals don't match up well; the vocal inflections that Eminem has in his verses in that song are too strong and it doesn't work well. Also, the verses don't even match up with the tempo of the instrumental track.

As a general rule of thumb for any mash-up, you have to experiment a lot with varying tempos throughout the vocal track, and you sometimes have to compromise and also mess with the overall tempo of the instrumental to make sure it fits more snugly with the vocals.

Thanks 4 the advice, like I said, this is my first one and kinda just threw it together and thought it sounded kinda cool. It was kinda fun though and I'll probably be screwing around more with my next one.
