Deangelo Hall To The Ravens?

96 posts in this topic

Would you be mad if the Ravens were able to pick up disgruntled Atlanta Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall in the offseason?

According to a story on NFL.com, Hall refuses to be a part of another losing season, essentially saying he'd want out of Atlanta if the Falcons do not have a good offseason, which includes bringing in a head coach that meshes well with the team.

Should the Falcons not rise up to Hall's expectations, would you be angry if the Ravens were to pick up a so-called "malcontent"? After all, Hall has had a history of publicly criticizing the Falcons organization for their miscues, and has had a history of behavioral issues.

I, for one, wouldn't mind DeAngelo Hall coming to the Ravens. Although he's had some attitude problems, his swagger fits right in with the demeanor that embodies Baltimore football. He's still young and has a lot of potential, and could turn out to be a coup for us like Willis McGahee, who also had "behavioral problems" in Buffalo during his departure from the Bills.

Also, this would add depth to our secondary, and provide a legitimate insurance policy, should Samari Rolle and Chris McAlister remain on the sidelines next season with injuries again. In addition, drafting a corner with the first round pick and pairing him with Hall would give us a glimpse of what our defensive backfield could be in the near-future.

Thoughts if this were to happen?

He is nothing but trouble, I wouldn't want him on our team at all. If he wants out of a losing team then hes looking to join a team who is usually consistant with making the playoffs every year. IMO no thanks.

I'm not too big on picking up other another team's attitude problem, especially one that can't handle losing.

i'd have to say that if the ravens were to even consider picking him up, they would first and foremost have to sit him down and hammer it in his thick head that he would be on a one strike and you're out basis. he has the type of passion that would fit this defense, but i am always weary of an overspoken ego in the locker room.

I think I'm inclined to agree with BirdFan, he may present too much of a risk as an attitude problem. He just got fined for a "uniform violation" for wearing a "Free Vick" shirt under his jersey LOL. Another fine, go figure on that one, but he must have expected it. He has good stats over a 3 year career, and hasn't missed any games, though.

I'm sure the front office will know what to do if he really does become available. Bad boys TO and Randy Moss have grown into real team players. But they are on winning teams also. That's a tough call that Ozzie Newsome would know how to answer if he met him face to face. Everybody deserves a second chance, you know what I mean???

I would love to have him here in Baltimore. Hes kinda like a T.O. He can be a distraction at times, but hes worth it.

i think that Hall can offer to be a overall Good talent and athlete for this team and its system, seeing how he doesnt really want to be a part of the Falcons anymore....i think that he could offer us a New way of direction and a new aspect of where or how to do certain things, i think Hall as a Player and as a overall person still has what it takes to compete and compete at ahigh level and have that winning internal drive, he may also offer some people over here (whether it be players and/or the Coaching staff or a combination of both)....i think he could bring over a new and possibly unique way of playing certain situations at a particular point in time.

After reading some of these responses, I can understand the sentiment that no one wants a malcontent. But I believe in giving second chances.

Look at how Randy Moss and Terrell Owens, two of the NFL's premier bad boys, have become team players almost overnight. Though the verdict is still out on Moss since we still have yet to see a full season of this in New England, Owens has become considerably tame and has contained his circus act that ran rampant in San Francisco and Philadelphia. Though T.O.'s TD celebrations, for a time, were still mean-spirited, he has done nothing to disrupt team chemistry like everyone predicted, and has not played his way out of the NFL.

There are others, admittedly, who refuse to change, such as Pacman Jones and Chris Henry. However, those two didn't have the benefit of a respected veteran to guide their behavior as Hall does in Deion Sanders.

As older fans may remember, Deion in his prime was the epitome of the "me-first" superstar in the NFL. But time has made him considerably more mature, and though his demeanor as an analyst on the NFL Network is reminiscent of his Primetime persona, he is far from a malcontent these days, as evident in his brief two-year stint in Baltimore in 2004 & 2005.

I believe that with the watchful eye and proper guidance that Deion Sanders, Ray Lewis, and Ozzie Newsome can provide, as well as the tutelage of Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle, DeAngelo Hall can legitimately develop into one of the greatest to ever play his position, should he wear purple & black next season.

YES!!! Lets take him!

This guy is an awesome corner! He is upset because the falcon have been mismanaged for a long time. Why don't people think players have the right to be upset? I think it's wrong to show that publically, talk bad about your team, coach, and the management. But these people are hoping someone will listen to their complaints and change something. I think DeAngelo Hall will follow in Randy Moss's footsteps and become a real team player that everyone on the team likes and admires for their skills. Who can't take pride in the fact that they are apart of the Raven's Elite Defense? Plus, do you think Ray, C-Mac, and Reed will let anyone run their mouth about the players and mess up off the field? Plus, I hear the way all the players talk about Rex Ryan and they seriously love this guy. I think Hall and Rex will get along fine and Hall will explode with his best season ever!

I think it would be a great move!!!

He's one of the most talented and fastest CBs in th NFL.

I go with the opinion of "theFRANCHISE". I think Ed Reed and Ray would bring him down. He's the only leader in the Falcons' defense so he has the right to speak his mind.

But I dont really think the Ravens would pick him

if we do pick him up....(after our Main Guys we are focused on) we need to make that he doesnt become a distraction whether it be on OR off the field, because that would only lead to poor performance from the guy, which most Definately affects the rest of the team at LEAST some way, shape or form....

Having DeAngelo Hall would be a dream but leaves too much lent in our pockets. Like many defensive players Hall would have too much respect for our defense to be a problem.

Drafting a CB would probably be a much cheaper solution. We do need to invest in our secondary but our Offensive Line first.

I dont think so...our OL is young with a lot of talent...Adam Terry will start LT next season, and he's solid there, Jason Brown will start LG, and he's solid, Chris Chester will start at Center, and he's still learning but he's getting better game by game, Ben Grubbs will play LG, and he's still learning but even though, he's still solid, and Marshal Yanda is playing RT, and he's learning but he still has a great upside to him. So by next year they should be more of a solid line. So I think that we can invest on the secondary first.

Also, if we were to invest in our offensive line, we're better off picking up a dark horse in the 2nd or 3rd round, as a first-round offensive lineman is a steep investment if he likely won't start.

We have enough depth on the offensive line right now to pick up a couple of stopgap solutions if any unforeseen circumstances were to occur.

But we don't have enough depth in the secondary to last another season like this.

It's one thing to never be able to score on offense, it's another thing to never be able to STOP the other team from scoring.

He could be good here. But do you really think he is going to leave Atlanta??????? They will continue to put up with him as long as he plays the way they want him to.

We need help on the corners, but I would prefer that the Ravens try to sign Marcus Trufant. If Trufant won't sign with us, the DeAngelo Hall might be an option.

That'd be like how we almost got TO a few seasons back. I wasn't sure if I would have even wanted him here despite his talent (for dropping balls, that is.)

id rather not bring in a troubled DB when we can invest a high draft pick to get someone up and coming with more upside and less baggage attached. we don't need another player comin' in here actin' all high and mighty and then talkin crap when we don't do amazing. It'll just divide the team more, rather than bring them together again after a tough year.

We don't even have the cap space. But if we did I would rather draft in 1st round for a corner or like someone else said Marcus Trufant.

but my question is...is there any cornerback in the draft that is worthy of the 6th overall pick??? i mean seriously, I would go pick a draft pick that would be worthy of 6th overall, no matter what position.

No and I actually dont think Rolle will be around much longer. He is a young guy and with all the veterans on our squad that attitude would be held in check.

Deangelo Hall would take the spotlight off of our harderworking,

diligent CBs and Safeties. He is a good player, but as you've said, he

will be complaining non-stop if we dont make it to the playoffs.

But Overall, he wont be the best addition to the team. It's not

a good idea to take him in.

Don't like the idea of Hall, especially after watching him melt down and singlehandedly drive Carolina down the field in that one game. Think it was something like 60 yards of penalties in one drive.

Though I have to admit, if Steve Smith can get under his skin that much, it would be awesome to watch Hall explode the first time Hines Ward helmet-to-helmets him.

D. Hall here in Bmore.....I certainly hope not....not after his actions this season in Atl....with the whole talking to Bobby Petrino the way he did on a normal basis (weather Petrino deserved it or not he was the HC, show respect) and then the whole Vick T-Shirt situation and then as mentioned above the whole melt down in Carolina......no thank you
