what do you want?

I'm bringing Essendon jumpers for you

As long as you don't buy it at the stadium, I don't really care.

I was going to wear my Carlton jumper but whatever....

EDIT: Well done, you made it to 100 posts. :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047

I'' admit to hoping for an interesting season this year, mostly due to the expansion Gold Coast side, but also to see what the established sides will be doing this campaign.

Earlier in this thread, when I mentioned the "Curse of Norm Smith" in regard to the Melbourne Demons, I also have to state that - in my belief - that Melbourne took a serious hit during that time after the Dees let the Old Dark Navy Blues have Ron Barassi as captain-coach.

How do any of you who are clued to the footy consider this possibility? I welcome your comments on this topic.

Well Melbourne haven't done all that much since Barassi left, so you might be on to something.

Looking forward to Bombers vs. Saints on the weekend, think we'll get over the line again and set up a big final vs. Collingwood.

If you don't like it, simply don't click on it. It isn't like this is on the main board or anything, it's in the Off-topic forum where it belongs.

I created this thread to show people the sport the game of Australian Rules Football and to see their opinions of it. There are some people who like to discuss the sport and follow what is going on.

Yeah, you're right, we should talk about cricket instead.

Anybody see England lose to Ireland? I think this is proof that minnow teams such as England should not be allowed in the World Cup, it just wrecks it for the other teams.

Sri Lanka will beat Australia easily on Saturday.

Well it was a stupid thing to do. Please make sure you get Bloodraven's approval before creating any future threads, you can't just go making off-topic threads in an off-topic forum. It's not on.

Good to see Collingwood win the NAB Cup Grand Final on Friday.

While I was at the Geelong v Carlton match at Visy Park on Saturday, nearly half the Richmond squad walked past me trying to scout Carlton for Rd.1. Hopefully we give them another 80 point drubbing.

The home-and-away rounds are coming in just a few days...only a matter of time until we ball it up at the center of the grounds.

Earlier today, I was checking the AFL web site, in regard to the current scores and the ladder.

so far, we have three matches left to conclude Round Three of the season, and I find that The Woods are in first, followed by the Swannies. The rest of the ladder can be found on the web site, but I was wondering what those of you who are into the footy think of the season so far.

I welcome your comments.

So far the only real surprise of this season is the terrible start St. Kilda have made to the season, after making the grand final last season, they remain winless with only a draw to show from the first three rounds.

Another big talking point of the new season is the inclusion of the new team the 'Gold Coast Suns.' From the two games they've played they have lost by a combined margin of 190 points, including a 119 point hammering at the hand of Carlton. Considering the massive draft concessions they were given, including the first 3 picks and 6 of the top ten draft choices, they are performing quite terribly. With the talent that they have on their list, I find it hard to believe that they won't be a serious contender in a few years.

I had been hoping that Essendon would get the best of the Maggies in their Anzac Day match at the MCG, but it was not the situation. True, the Dons pulled to within one point by twenty minutes into the third term, but I suppose the Woods were just to much for us.

Still, we have quite a bit left in the home and away rounds to go, so I will still hope for something from the Bombers for this 2011 season.

I know that we haven't spoken of the footy in some months, but I just thought I would mention that I was over at the AFL web site a few minutes ago and learned of the passing of Allan Jeans, who, as I recall, played for St. Kilda for a number of season and also coached the Saints to the lone premiership win in 1966.

Jeans also coached Hawthorn to some premierships in the late seventies and even in the eighties. I recall his coaching the Hawks against Essendon in three straight Grand Final appearances from 1983 to 1985.

I welcome your comments on this topic and hope to hear from the Aussie members of the forums here soon.
