This morning I checked the AFL web site, to learn that this year's Grand Final ended in a draw. That's right - a draw, Collingwood and St. Kilda each scored 68 points.

From what I recall, the last time we had a draw in the Grand Final was 1977, when North Melbourne and Collingwood played to a draw, and had to play a rematch one week later. The 'Roos won the rematch.

I just hope that St. Kilda can win the rematch when it should come up.

Nearly everyone apart from Collingwood supporters are with you there. The match was great and the rematch should be even better, did you get to see any highlights?

Still disappointed about Carlton......

From the highlights I've seen, the Woods were doing things on the fast run, and their kicking for goal was on par, yet the Saints did manage to find it within themselves to come back, especially in the Premiership Quarter - and the result is the first drawn Grand Final since the Woods and the 'Roos back in 1977.

I just wonder who some of the big name legends of the league will choose for this rematch. Of course, I can imagine who "Louie the Lip" - Lou Richards - will be choosing.

Bombers in for a good year next year I think with Hirdy. I hope we get Luke Parker in the draft, he looks very good.

From what I understand, Essendon have signed James Hird to a four year deal as coach. I am hoping that the Dons can do well with Hird as coach, and should we get Luke Parker, this sounds even better.

I am expecting something big from this combination, as the Windy Hill faithful will not settle for anything less than a premiership.

I highly doubt that Essendon will make the top eight let alone win the premiership. Essendon aren't the powerhouse that they used to be, they are in a rebuilding stage. With developing players like Michael Hurley and the next superstar CHF in Scott Gumbleton, they may become good again.

Also, Luke Parker is a bit of a reach at pick 8, much better players will be available.

Yes, Ninjaturtle, if that is your real name, that is just what we want you to think. Essendon are the sleeping giant of the AFL and next year we will wake up. Just you wait and see.

I would much rather getting Luke Parker with pick 8 than Brock McLean with pick 11. Carlton will struggle next year.

Brock McLean is still good, even if we had pick 11 still, we would have drafted Kane Lucas anyway. In the end we ended up getting Henderson, Lucas and McLean for Fev.

Essendon will not win many games next year. You is not good. Silly Duffa.

Here's my predictions and in-depth analysis:
Adelaide:
Too many duds, 12th-17th

Brisbane:
lol - 16th-17th

Carlton:
Wasted draft picks, need Fev. 15th-17th

Collingwood:
Beware the premiership hangover, might scrape into the top 8, but I doubt it. 10th-14th

Essendon:
New coach, young players will star. Gumby to win the Coleman, Watson to win the Brownlow. 1st-2nd.

Fremantle:
Looking good. Ex-essendon coach and players will help, watch out. 2nd-3rd

Geelong:
lol. 13th - 17th.

Gold Coa$t:
Too many kids. 16th - 17th.

Hawthorn:
Lost their best player (Wayde Skipper), 13th - 17th

Melbourne:
LOL. 16th-17th

North Melbourne:
Will be lucky to survive the year, let alone play finals. 14th-15th

Port Adelaide:
see above

Richmond:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAhahahah. Houli will help, but they will still finish bottom 4. 17th-18th

St. Kilda:
Gone. Premiership window has slammed shut with nothing to show for it. 10th-14th.

Sydney:
The Roosters should do well this year, Anthony Minichiello will have a big season. 2nd-4th

Western Bulldogs:
Too old, too many duds, they have a nutcase and full forward and their coach is useless. 17th.

West Coast:
Will become the first team in history to finish 16th and then get worse. 17th, bookmark it.
So, as you can see, things looking very good for the Dons next year.

A+

I especially liked the Wayde Skipper and Sydney roosters parts.

(I don't think the Smokin' Joe Flacco thing is going to catch on.)

Henderson > Gumby

I disagree with you on both.

Essendon should be okay next year. Consistency comes with experience and a good coaching staff, last year we had neither. This year we do and I think if we can play at our best throughout the year than we should make the 8.

As a mad Bombers fan, I hate to admit that Carlton are a bit further along the development trail than us at the moment. If we can get a good season into our young talls and gain a couple of high quality mids in the draft then we are on track. When our "spine" clicks into gear we will trouble alot of teams. We are still a few years off being serious contenders. 8-12 next year. 4-8 2012. Top 4 2013.

Sorry Gumbleton but you are a bit deluded - passionate - but deluded.

Ninja - Henderson is nowhere near as good as Gumby. I like him but take the navy blue blinkers off buddy! An injury-free run and people will see why he was a number 2 draft pick. If he can develop some core strength he will start to dominate games within 2 years.

Ill still be cheering hard, revelling in the wins, lamenting the losses and bleeding red and black.

Shaun Atley/Josh Caddy/Dion Prestia as pick 8 (prefer Atley)

Not delusional, optimistic!

Delusional is Carlton supporters who think they have a chance of making the 8 next year.

This can be a general purpose Australian sport thread.

I hate:
- Michael Clarke
- Seb Vettel
- Joel Monaghan

I also think that Cameron White should be in the Australian test side and that Mitchell Johnson is bad.

I understand the hate towards Sebastian Vettel, but what did Michael Clarke do?

Also, who is Joel Monaghan?

I think Bruce will go to Werribee Reserves and Anthony will become a property developer.
What about Neagle and Atkinson? Surely they have something special lined up.

But seriously, what do you think the chances are of Neagle getting a rookie spot?

Neagle... I dunno. He could be really good if he just lost weight and got fit. He turned up to the Essendon B+F with Hungry Jacks, true story. I hope we rookie him.

Atkinson is a decent depth player and I was a bit surprised when he was delisted, I think he will get picked up by someone else.

In other news, BOMBER!

That is good news for your team, but I can't help remembering what he said to Gary Ablett after he left for the Gold Coast.

He is a bit of a hypocrite, although he was captain of your club.

I really don't think that he will make that much of a difference for your team. You'll still manage to beat us though....

Also, I hate our new slogan thingo.

The draft is this Thursday, hopefully Carlton can get one of Darling, Watson or McCarthy. I would be happy with any of those three, as long as we don't draft another midfielder with our first pick.

FACING THE GIANTS!

Looks alright, same colours as the West Tigers though which is pretty stupid. Giants is okay.

Carlton had a good draft with Matthew Watson, Pat McCarthy, Luke Mitchell, Andrew McInnes and the 26 year old Nicholas Duigan. Hopefully in a few years we can have a backline that can actually defend.

Essendon did alright to get Heppell didn't they?

I don't like the Gold Coast.

lol at St.Kilda with Dean Polo.

I'm happy with Heppell, Carlton seems to have drafted very poorly. Do you like their new clash jumper?
I believe that Carlton drafted quite well. To be honest I don't like the clash jumper at all, the white one looked so much better.

I also like this story, Carlton announces $2.2 million profit for 2010
I assume Essendon made a profit as well, it has been a great year.
