I can't believe that Essendon lost to Fremantle, but I have to - because the Dons lost to them.

With six sides undefeated so far after two rounds, there should be some interesting play in round three.

SSSShhhhhh. I'm still in denial. Terrible, terrible performance. Oh well, the season is but young and this week against Carlton should bring us our first win. Isn't that right Ninja?? ;)

The way that we usually play against you, you probably will post that first win. Although, without Lovett, Lloyd, Lucas and McVeigh who almost always carve us up when we play you, and us without Judd and Fev, it should be closer. Remember the last time we beat you, when we came back from eight goals down to win by three? That was one of my favourite Carlton v Essendon games. It should be a good game, I can't wait till tommorrow. Also, one thing, why did Essendon drop Howlett? I thought he played alright in the first two weeks. Good to see Melksham and Lucas making their debuts. I have a good feeling about this one.

Good luck though....
Carlton by 72565 points. ;)

Player management. Last week he faded badly in the second half. After a tough round 1 against the Cats and a good 1st half against the Dockers he then faded. My guess is rest him.
No Fev, Stevens and Judd will/could hurt you guys although Judd has only had 1 good game against us for the Blues.
My tip - you will come out strong, we will lead at 3/4 time, you will win by about 3-4goals. Hate to say that!
Enjoy the game. I'll be at work so won't get to watch it until Sunday morning when I get home.

Should I mention the result Ninja, or do you want to?

Oh, OK then, I will.

Woohoo, first win for the year! 6 in a row against Carlton. 20 point win in a scrappy game but a win is a win!!

Happy days!

See the Bombers fly up, up...

I agree, Mex, who better for the Dons to beat for the first of the campaign than Carlton?

Now, the next opponent. We shall see.

Hey Mex, what did you think of Mick Malthouse and his comments about Milne, I thought that he was way out of line. For him to then go and blatantly lie to the media like he did, I think that he deserved something other than a fine.

I am still depressed about that loss on the weekend, honestly, Essendon should have won by at least 10 goals the way we played. That was a terrible performance, but I don't see why all these supporters are calling for Ratten's axing. Well, at least we get Judd back against Adelaide, which I see as must win clash. Although, I still don't see us making the eight.

How funny was it when Adelaide lost to Melbourne?

ps. I can't stand Kyle Reimers..... :argh:

Malthouse is, and has always been,a self-important grub. He has given the media the finger for years and they are now lining up to sink the boot in. Justifiably too. He and Milne are actually my two least favourite AFL personalities, closely followed by Fev, Didak and Brad Johnson. Mick crossed the line, lied about it and then tried to take the moral high ground. He and Eddie Mcguire will take a big credibility hit over this, I hope.
You should get up over the Crows because of their injury count. Couldn't have got a better time to play them as I actually rate them this year. You should win by 3-5 goals.
I hope we can break our travel hoodoo against WCE this week. Really need to pick up another 4 points before the biggest regular season game of the year. I hope we smash the Pies on ANZAC day but gotta get through West Coast first. Hurley back will certainly help. We are starting to get some decent depth too, which will help.
p.s. - Reimers is the new Aker and I love him!!

I totally agree with the statement about Malthouse.

Although, I'm not so sure that it'll be that easy for the blues this week, if we kick like we did last week we'll have absolutely no chance, injuries or not, Adelaide are still a good side. Even though they lost to Melbourne. ^_^

Yes, Mex, the rivalries are just heating up for 2010. But first things first, especially when crossing the Nullabor Plain to face West Coast at Subiaco.

I can still recall that Sheeds would swing the jacket when a win against West Coast was in hand, so this rivalry should make for good stuff this season.

As for ANZAC Day against the Black and White Army, I certainly hope we can get our fair chances against the Pies. I feel we must do better against them this campaign.

For some reason, I have a feeling that the Dons will sweep the Pies this year, don't ask me why. I just have a feeling.

That wasn't the greatest performances last night from the bombers, was it Mex? But, to be honest, you never play good at Subiaco.

Haven't won at Subi since 2001 (?) from memory.
Was just a disappointing performance and hopefully just "one of those games". Will want to pull our finger out soon or the season will slip by.

At least the thought of the mighty blues winning will keep your spirits up. ;)

Big clash for you next week, hopefully Zaharakis can fluke another game winning goal. I really hope that you win, I can't stand the pies.

In all, Round 4 wasn't too bad.

Terrible performance from the Dons today, I was at the game and the way that the bombers played in that first quarter, it made the pies look a lot better than they actually were.

I was with my mates, one who barracks for Essendon and even he went with me when is said that your strategy was handball, handball, f-up.

In all I think that there were a few positives to take out of the game; firstly you didn't put your heads down after a terrible first quarter performance, the effort of Gumby was encouraging and he showed glimpses of what he can do further on in his career and the way that some of your younger players played for example; Colyer, Melksham and Gumby. I am sure that there were many more but in all it wasn't the greatest game ever.

Also, I cannot believe Melbourne, what is happening to our world? :o

Carlton are gonna take on St. Kilda this week, and I don't have a very good feeling about this one. Although last time it was only 9 points the difference.

From what I've seen lately from the AFL, Collingwood has been top of the ladder, followed by Geelong and then Fremantle, although I have to wonder how the Freo Heave-Ho will do for the next few weeks, due to the club holding one of their players out for a while due to disciplinary problems.

I see the Dons are tied with Melbourne and West Coast for eleventh with identical 3-5 records, separated by a few percentage points.

Still, this week sees Essendon take on Richmond in the Dreamtime match on Saturday night at the MCG. I can recall that there have been some very good players of aboriginal descent on both teams - Richmond legend Maurice Rioli and Essendon star Michael Long.

This should make for some very good football this week.

After nine rounds, there is still a jam at the top of the AFL ladder, only this time Geelong holds the top spot on percentage.

Also, the Dons drubbed Richmond in the Dreamtime match at the MCG. This puts Essendon, along with Melbourne and one or two other clubs, just outside the top eight on percentage as well as record.

I wonder what round ten will bring with it.

The Bombers are slowly getting their season back on track. 3 wins from the last 4 games with the other being a 3 point loss that we threw away at the end. This week we've got the Bulldogs who are in ominous form after dishing out some beltings recently. We've actually got a big 3 weeks which could define our season. Bulldogs, the Sydney in Sydney (always tougher there) and then the reigning premiers Geelong. We pushed Geelong for 3 quarters in round 1 so I think they will want to prove a point and we may be on the receiving end of a footy lesson. They are a damn good unit at the moment and their coach is an ex Bombers premiership legend who likes having the upper hand against his old side.
If we can turn the half-way mark of the season at 6-5 I will be stoked but it could quite easily be 4-7.
Fingers crossed we can maintain some intensity and keep improving.

Hello Gentlemen,

I myself am quite the AFL fan. I have been an Essendon supporter my whole life, my favourite player is Scott Gumbleton. I hope we can beat the Saints on Friday, although I don't think we will.

Ninja Turtle, Carlton are a bad team and you should feel bad for supporting them.

Why hello,
I think that Essendon will actually win against the Saint on the weekend, you beat them last time and now Gumby is in form, you might just win.
As for this talk of Carlton being bad, you can't really talk.

I agree, I think we have a chance.

Yes I do have a Supercoach team. They're called the "Baltimore Bombers". I'm doing okay at the moment, scored about 2000 on the weekend, just saving my trades for the finals

EDIT: Hey Mex! Good to see another Essendon supporter on here!

I can imagine the actions that can transpire when the Blues and the Maggies get together, especially if it should be on the One Day In September at the MCG.

I will be sure to check the AFL site for more information as to match results, as I'm also hoping for something decent from the Dons.

So, the AFL campaign is almost over, and there have been quite a few games and quite a few plays, but at the moment the field is down to two - Collingwood and Saint Kilda - in this year's AFL Grand Final.

I am hoping for the Saints to win, but I'll just have to wait and see.

This morning I checked the AFL web site, to learn that this year's Grand Final ended in a draw. That's right - a draw, Collingwood and St. Kilda each scored 68 points.

From what I recall, the last time we had a draw in the Grand Final was 1977, when North Melbourne and Collingwood played to a draw, and had to play a rematch one week later. The 'Roos won the rematch.

I just hope that St. Kilda can win the rematch when it should come up.
