Ed Reed Concerns

I think that Ed Reed will be ok but we have an excellent replacement in Webb. The guy is always around the ball and is as physical as reed which i love.

I could actually see Webb playing FS considering his fine tackling and willingness to mix it up. Plus, he was a safety in college.

But if Reed were to retire, I think the team would draft a safety.

Say what?

Please don't take our best corner and put him at safety :(

Webb is like a buck 70, he needs to put on at least 20 pounds to play safety and not get blown up in the open field.

Webb can definitely play Safety, but hes too good of a cornerback(A position we're constantly crying for help in) and we have too much good depth(Zbi, Nakamura) to switch him to safety

There's one thing for sure. With the talent we have and the prospects that you know the FO will bring in to be evaluated, if this is a problem we do have it covered. I'd like to think that Ed's alright but the only one who really knows is him. If he decides to hang it up, I am really gonna miss the pleasure of watching one of the best ever play the game he loves. Whatever is best for him, personally, is what I wish for him. As for the Ravens, next man up!

Face it, this will be as hot a topic as any until we finally get an answer from Ed. So for the millionth time, Zibby would likely take his place and we would get depth in the draft.

you're right - hot topic!

But no need for an "Ed Reed" topic every other day....lets just "sticky" one at this point.

Like I have posted several times on this board, NO ONE will replace Reed because of his exceptional leadership in the locker room and on the field. His position will be filled, but Reed will never be replaced.

Im more concerned for Ed_Reed the blogger than Ed Reed the player, no offense. He will be fine. He has a whole offseason to rest and most of what he initially said was from the loss he experienced. lets not forget Ray's comment, Ed won't leave me. He's good for at least 2 more years and by then we will draft a safety. Personally, I was hoping it would be Earl Thomas as I thought he would come out his junior or seinor season but unless he is left and gresham, graham, dan williams, etc. is left we wont get him

The best free saftey ever retiring would kill me, nothing is better in a Ravens game than seeing a brilliant pick by Mr. Reed and the possibility for 6.

The only thing worse would be Ray Lewis retiring that old man is 50% of our defense running from one sideline to the other like he's a rookie it's unhumanlike.

I do believe Webb played safety in college, not sure though. I know he was the fastest Cornerback last year though. Anyways I really like Zibby and Ruki so, I wanna give them a chance. I Actually like them both better than Landry as of now. But Ed will be back, when did our team become the Baltimore Favres? First it was Mason now Reed? And there's old GOAT himself keep trucking along haha.

If the doctors clear him to play, Ed will be back... he has more pressing concerns than his football career, as his life is threatened by this impingement.

The last time I checked Webb is a corner back not a safety, so for him to be a replacement for Reed does not even make sense. Now if you were saying that Zibikowski played well enough last season, I can agree with that. If the G.O.A.T. does not return either Zibikowski or Nakamura will replace him with Zibikowski running in the front since Nakamura will be coming back from injury.

Webb has also been used multiple times on blitzes, and when I saw him last year, he was all over the field. I like this kid, and he's not a true shutdown corner. He's more like that fast and explosive defender that the QB has to locate before he takes the snap.

Not to mention, the return game. Parmele and Webb competing for the job as returner on kickoffs? I like the sound of that.

If Ed Reeed leaves we would not take our best corner and put him at FS. We would have Zbikowski take his place, and we'll do fine. Zbikowski had two int the first two games he replaced Ed Reed, so we know he has potential.

I highly doubt Webb will be returning kicks next season. We may not see him till mid-season.

As for Parmele, unless someone else wows the coaches in camp, I think he has the kick-return duties locked up. Someone definitely needs to step up in the punt-return game though.
