Why is Nobody Talking About Our New OLB Coach?

12 posts in this topic

Ted Monachino, who comes from the Carolina Panthers, is now our new OLB's coach. He knows Suggs from college.

I don't know anything about the guy but, unless I missed the thread, no one cares to talk about it.

If theres nothing to get excited about.....well....thats cool as well. Just curious why no one has even mentioned the hire.

Thanks!

Most of that discussion has taken place in the News section of the boards (a/k/a the comments section of BR.com), but for the most part, I'm surprised that there hadn't been a thread started until now.

The familiarity with Terrell Suggs is huge, especially since he helped develop Suggs into the rookie phenom that he was in 2003. He and Dean Pees should work wonders with this entire LB corps.

Those were my thoughts after reading the article. Welcome back T-Sizzle. (see my sig for the visual) B)

Ummm... this might mean something if Suggs was just coming out of college, as he'd have an easy transition having the same coach he did the year before when he was back at school.

Suggs has been in the league a while now. This coach probably hasn't seen him in years.

A new coordinator might help Suggs numbers, but a new position coach? What's that going to do?

The Ravens lost Rex Ryan... who probably puts together the best plays at the best times... better than anyone else in the league. When you lose a guy like that, production is going to dip.

When you lose Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle, and try to put in Dominique Foxworth and Chris Carr... Suggs isn'y going to get all those sacks. Receivers are open too quickly.

Notice how the Jets defense, even without that stud nose-tackle Jenkins, came out of nowhere this season? There's a reason for that. That reason is Rex Ryan.

Now just sit back watch how scary they are if they end up getting Adalius Thomas!

The only thing that is going to help Suggs get more sacks is better talent around him, and better scheming. I really don't agree with anyone who says he was "out of shape" or "not trying."

No it isn't. The Jets had a top-flight D last year as well. Rex brought more pressure and with Revis' growing as a player, the D got better but its not like Rex built anything. The foundations in Revis, Harris, Jenkins, Pace and Rhodes were already there.

If Jared Allen needs his own personal pass rushing coach to be elite, then giving Suggs the guy who basically molded him in college cant hurt whatsoever.

Maybe because it really aint nothing to talk about, we have to wait and see what he does, basically I am tired of thinking these coaches will be the one and they end up being the last one..... nothing personal... I guess we just have to wait and see right.....
