V. Jackson Pleads Guilty; To Serve a 4-Day Jail Sentence

11 posts in this topic

To all of the pro-Jackson/anti-Marshall fans on here, take a look at This Article... Still think Marshall is the only big-time WR with off-the-field problems?

Looks like Malcolm Floyd is the better option at this point!

A very large number of players drink and drive still even after their peers have been in trouble, its just a matter of time before they get caught as well.

Yeah, it's amazing to me how often it happens. These guys are millionaires, or close to it, all they need to do is hire a limo service or take a taxi and they would avoid all of this.

When I taunt my co-workers about Bears players, my favorite (besides Urlacher's fragile wrists) is Briggs' DUI Crash-and-Dash.

Like he really thought he wouldn't get caught leaving his very expensive and rare care wrapped around a light pole.

While true, DUI has the potential to become manslaughter. Thankfully that didn't happen, but let's not downplay the seriousness of drinking and driving.

It's pretty amazing to me how men who have been through college, worked hard their entire life to get to have the profession of playing football, and are millionaires can be so stupid as to get drunk, and then get behind the wheel of a car. First of all, they can afford a taxi service. Hell, they can afford a limo driver. Second, look at what they risk. The chance to play football as their life's work, boatloads of money, not to mention the intangibles of being a part of a community and team.

Amazing how stupid people can be sometimes.

We signed Donte Stallworth who killed a guy. Off field problems dont matter anymore to the Ravens.

But that could happen to anyone that gets behind the wheel drunk. Stallworth isn't a worse man than Jackson because his mistake had greater consequences. That's what I find so frustrating about the whole anti-Stallworth backlash, DUI's that don't end in such tragic consequences are barely met with a raised eyebrow. It's a huge problem that no one seems to care about until it's too late.

There's a difference between making a mistake which leads to an accident with severe consequences, and actively deciding to assault or kill somebody. Stallworth isn't a murderer, he made a mistake and he's gonna have to live with those demons. It's different with guys like Michael Vick, whom didn't make "mistakes", but actively decided to cause harm to other living things, and then only repented 'cause they got caught.

Yea true. But it shows they are willing to face the adversity and criticism they will get from some angry people.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying DUI or DWI are acceptable...

and if you want to go that route... you could beat someone to death as well.....

if someone dies... regardless it is never good

but drinking and driving... it was a mistake, a lack of judgement

beating your girlfriend or wife.... that is anger issues among other things
