Had he NOT been drafted by the Raiders, do you think Darrius Heyward-Bey could have amounted to something? I know lots of folks were calling him a bust half way through the season. Do you think a team with a real quarterback could have helped?

I saw him play a lot of games when he was at Maryland, he showed a lot of talent and potential. I think he will be good one day. He could use a real QB. He is still young.

When your QB is JaUseless Russell you wont be able to show all of your talent.

Think folks thought he was going to drop into the Ravens,just seemed to be the buzz,yet we don't know if that was the plan,I'd take Oher over Bay anyday!

Well yeah me too.

I remember just being....angry...when he was drafted by the Raiders. All I could think of was 'Thanks Al Davis for screwing his career.'

My jaw dropped because I didn't think he would go that high,but then again my college watching is minimal

Were you watching the draft? Did you see the look on DHB's face??? I don't think [b]he[/b] wanted to enter that Black Hole either, although I'm sure Davis's moolah made him feel better after a while.

Bruce Gradkowski should be the starter next season. I mean he did pass DHB his first TD pass.

I just think that the Raiders coaches overestimated his talents. I honestly think if he had came here, with the way our coaches work, he would have been slot at best. Maybe eventually taking over for Clayton but not for a few years. I cant see him being a #1 guy. To me he seems really nervous on the field, kind of Justin Harper esque.

He was shown up by Louis Murphy last year,not exactly a WR I'd want to have.

Last I checked, his career wasn't over yet, so he still has time to prove himself. However, Heyward-Bey will always be linked to Crabtree and that's just not fair to him considering how different their situations are... I have a feeling that he will be a productive receiver in this league, whether in Oakland or elsewhere.

Being drafted by the Raiders today is like being drafted by the Creamsicle Buccaneers back in the 90s like Warren Sapp.

It'll take a couple huge picks to turn that team around, and taking people like DHB over Michael Crabtree isn't going to make that happen anytime soon.

He said that Heyward-Bey's eyes would tell him every route he was going to run. He did not catch one pass against Aso in training camp. Can't blame everything on the QB when you lack the fundamentals required to just play the position.
